Men's Basketball Selected Seventh In NEC Preseason Coaches Poll

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac University men's basketball team has been selected by the Northeast Conference's coaches to finish seventh in the league this season, the conference office today announced. Defending NEC Tournament Champion Mount St. Mary's received nine first-place votes in being named the league's favorite to return to the NCAA Tournament.

Sacred Heart was picked to finish second, while Robert Morris received one first-place vote and followed the Pioneers. Central Connecticut and Fairleigh Dickinson tied for the fourth-place position, with the Knights receiving one first-place vote. Long Island preceded the Bobcats in sixth-place, while Wagner followed in the eighth spot. Monmouth, St. Francis (N.Y.) and Saint Francis (Pa.) rounded out the 11-team field.

The Bobcats begin their season with a regionally-televised game at the University of Hartford, Nov. 14. The 7 p.m. tip-off can be seen on the New England Sports Network.
