Quinnipiac Acrobatics and Tumbling Tops Fairmont State, 279.085-275.87

HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac Acrobatics and Tumbling team defeated the Fairmont State Falcons, 279.085-275.87, on Saturday afternoon at the TD Bank Sports Center on York Hill Campus. With the win, the Bobcats improve to 4-2 on the season while the Fighting Falcons drop to 1-5.  The Bobcats came away with four out of the six events in the competition.

Quinnipiac opened strong as they took the Compulsory event from the Falcons (37.5-37.2). However, the Bobcats surrendered the lead as they fell behind in the next two events, Acro (28.5-27.25) and Pyramid (29.2-29.15). Quinnipiac took two out of the three Acro heats; however a 1.25 point discrepancy held the Bobcats from the sweep. The Fighting Falcons carried a one point lead into intermission, 94.9-93.9.

In the final three events, the Bobcats were unfazed by Fairmont's run in the first stanza as they captured the final three events; the Toss (28.35-28.15), Tumbling (56.38-52-95) and Team (100.46-99.87). Quinnipiac regained the lead in the Tumbling event when the Bobcats swept the Falcons in all six of the events. In the final event, Team, the Bobcats posted an impressive tally of 100.46 and solidified their first win at home this season.
