February 6, 2010 KENNESAW, Ga. - The Quinnipiac University competitive cheer team placed third with a five-event score of 213.93 out of a possible 266 points at the Inaugural National Competitive Stunts and Tumbling Association meet hosted by Kennesaw State University. The Bobcats earned their best score in the basket toss event, where they earned a 36.23 total score and a 9.6 compulsory score.

Maryland took first place in the meet, tabbing a score of 243.66 out of 266 points. Oregon placed second with a total of 234.44, while Georgia placed fourth with a177.35. Division II programs, Fairmont State and Fort Valley State also competed in their own division segment, with Fairmont coming out on top with a 229.15. Fort Valley totaled a score of 163.59.

"I am very proud to have been a part of the first head-on meet with such incredibly strong programs," said head coach Mary Ann Powers. "Our team performed well and I look forward to our continued competition against these programs this season."

Quinnipiac placed third in each round, and showed strong scores in the basket toss (36.23), stunts (36.01) and in the pyramid segment (35.88). The scores can be found in their entirety by following the links provided above.

The Bobcats return to action on Saturday and Sunday when they compete in the Cheersport Nationals competition in Atlanta. Quinnipiac will take the floor at 10 a.m. in both days of the event.
