The Quinnipiac University Department of Athletics has announced the launch of the latest version (2.1) of its highly successful iPhone application, which was originally released on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2010. The application enables the user to access up-to-the-minute news, scores and highlights on their mobile device. Although originally only available on the iPhone, an iPad version is also availablel for download.
Since its launch in 2010, over 500 Bobcat fans have downloaded the mobile app. The new app has further developed all the original features, including the ability for fans to listen to all Quinnipiac Athletics’ radio broadcasts on AM 1220 WQUN and the student-operated Quinnipiac Bobcats Sports Network (QBSN).
"Mobile technology is here to stay and we are thrilled to have the updated iPhone App for Quinnipiac Athletics," director of athletics Jack McDonald said. "The QU Mobile App was one of the first in intercollegiate athletics and has allowed Quinnipiac fans to instantly access WQUN and QBSN/Student broadcasts, scores, schedules, results, photos, Q• YouTubes and "Bobcasts". It is particularly pleasing for us that this iPhone App was developed and designed by two former Quinnipiac baseball players. Bob Emamian '09 and Eric Weber '09 from Prolific Interactive assisted us for the past six months with developing this neat updated Mobile App."
Created and developed by Prolific Interactive the application portrays all the average Bobcat fanneeds to know about past and present news and events of Quinnipiac's 21 varsity teams. Emamian, Weber and Brett, along within Chris Meyers, Jimit Patel and Shobhnit Kapoor, headed the process in developing the application which was three months in the making. The app brings the QU athletics website right to the palm of iPhone (& soon to Droid) users' hands with easy navigation and up-to-date news and results from all of Quinnipiac's teams. Live broadcasts, podcasts and videos are also available.
"We've had a blast working with Jack McDonald and Quinnipiac Athletics to produce what we think is a fantastic digital companion for any die-hard Bobcats fan," Emamian said. "A few of us at Prolific are Quinnipiac alumnae, so we love being able to get updates and listen to broadcasts where we are."
Prolific Interactive, a new media agency specializing in digital strategy, mobile, social and web apps, was created by Emamian and Weber in April, 2009. The company has vastly grown since its inception with increased clientele, resulting in a recent move to NYC. The Prolific team is a proud partner of Quinnipiac Athletics and will continue to work on event promotions.
