Despite a spirited comeback attempt, the Quinnipiac field hockey team dropped a non-conference contest to UMass Lowell, 3-2, at home on Tuesday afternoon. The Bobcats battled back from a pair of one-goal deficits but couldn’t muster one more rally as the River Hawks blasted home the game-winner with just 4:38 remaining. With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 1-5 on the season while UMass Lowell moves to 3-4.

The first road trip in 2014 for the Quinnipiac field hockey team ended in victory as the Bobcats took down Holy Cross from the Hart Turf Field on Wednesday night, 2-0. Junior Meghan McCullough (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.) scored both Bobcat goals on the evening to lead Quinnipiac to their first victory of the 2014 season. With the victory, Quinnipiac improves to 1-3 while the Crusaders fall to 2-3.

Field Hockey's Effort Falls Short in 3-2 Overtime Loss to Lafayette
In a game that saw the Quinnipiac field hockey team take a 2-0 lead deep into the second half, the Bobcats saw a game within its grasps slip away in a 3-2 loss in overtime to Lafayette at the QU Field Hockey Turf Complex. Quinnipiac held a halftime lead and built a two-goal lead off the stick of senior captain Danielle Allan (Riverdale, N.J.) but the Leopards came alive with two goals in the final five minutes of regulation and then with the game-winner 11:22 into the overtime period. With the loss, Quinnipiac drops to 0-2 on the season while the Leopards improve to 2-0.

The upset-minded Quinnipiac field hockey team gave their intrastate rival all they could handle from the QU Field Hockey Turf Complex but they were ultimately edged by the defending national champs, 2-1, in a Sunday exhibition match. An impressive all-around effort gave the defending NCAA champion Huskies trouble at times and has Quinnipiac heading into their 2014 season opener on Friday at home against Boston College with plenty of momentum.

The Quinnipiac field hockey team was picked to finish second in the 2013 MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, accumulating 43 points among a vote of the league’s seven head coaches. Quinnipiac will square-off against Monmouth in the 2011 Northeast Conference Tournament Semifinals on Friday, Nov. 4 at 11 a.m. at Rider University’s Ben Cohen Field in Lawrenceville, N.J. Quinnipiac clinched the 3rd seed in the tournament with a 5-2 win against Sacred Heart on Friday, Oct. 29 as it won its last three NEC games on its way to a 11-7 overall mark and a 5-2 record in league play. Monmouth concluded the regular season at 14-5 overall and 6-1 in the NEC, with its only loss coming to top-ranked Rider.

Freshman Danielle Allan (Riverdale, N.J.) became the first player in Quinnipiac’s Division I history to score twice in her first career game as the Quinnipiac field hockey team defeated Holy Cross, 6-2, in its 2011 season opener at the QU Field Hockey & Lacrosse Turf Field in Hamden, Conn. Allan also factored into a third goal with an assist, giving her five points and the most a Quinnipiac player has scored in their first collegiate debut. The Bobcats’ six goals are the most they have scored in a season-opener in Division I history and the most scored against a Division I opponent in program history.

Quinnipiac field hockey head coach Becca Kohli has announced the Bobcats' tri-captains for the 2011 season. Seniors Megan McCreedy (White River, South Africa), Kimberly Cunniff (Walpole, Mass.) and Ashley Gradwell (Fogelsville, Pa.) will lead the Bobcats in 2011.

Field Hockey's Tina Watkins Named To 2010 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-Mideast Region Team
Quinnipiac field hockey senior Tina Watkins (Sweet Valley, Pa.) was one of three Northeast Conference players named to the 2010 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-Mideast Region team. Watkins was previously named to the All-Northeast Conference First Team.

Field Hockey Lands Five On All-Northeast Conference Team
The Quinnipiac University field hockey team had five players named to the All-Northeast Conference First and Second Teams, as announced at the annual Northeast Conference Field Hockey banquet on the eve of the NEC Tournament. Kim Cunniff (Walpole, Mass.) and Tina Watkins (Sweet Valley, Pa.) were named to the First Team while Kaitlyn Notarianni (Clarks Summit, Pa.), Lauren Zimniski (Dallas, Pa.) and Katie Van Nostrand (Derry, N.H.) were named to the Second Team. The Bobcats' five players are the second most honored by one team this year, behind Monmouth's six, in the eight-team Northeast Conference.

Field Hockey Falls In NEC Semifinals To Rider, 4-2
The Quinnipiac field hockey team lost to NEC top-ranked Rider in the second game of the NEC Tournament in Lawrenceville, N.J. Quinnipiac finishes the year at 8-10 overall and 4-4 in the NEC while Rider improves to 15-3 overall and 8-0 against Northeast Conference schools and will advance to the NEC Championship Game against Monmouth.

Field Hockey's Katie Van Nostrand and Kaitlyn Notarianni To Appear On WQAQ On Wednesday, Nov. 3 At 5:15 PM
Quinnipiac field hockey senior Katie Van Nostrand (Derry, N.H.) and junior Kaitlyn Notarianni (Clark Summit, Pa.) will appear as guests on WQAQ 98.1 FM's 'T'd Up' with Miles McQuiggan and Nick Sczerbinski. The student sports talk show runs from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and covers a variety of topics. The two field hockey veterans will appear to discuss the 2010 season and the upcoming Northeast Conference Field Hockey Championships this weekend. The Bobcats play at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 5 against No. 1 Rider on the Broncs home turf in Lawrenceville, N.J.

With a 5-1 win against Siena on Sunday, Oct. 31, the Quinnipiac University field hockey team clinched the fourth seed in the 2010 Northeast Conference Field Hockey Championship Tournament. The Bobcats will face NEC top-ranked Rider on the Broncs home turf on Friday, Nov. 5 at 1:30 p.m. in Lawrenceville, N.J. The winner of the first game of the day, pitting No. 2 Monmouth against No. 3 Bryant at 11 a.m., and the winner of the Bobcats' tilt with Rider, will advance to the NEC Championship Game on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 12 p.m.

Field Hockey Clinches NEC Tournament Berth With 5-1 Win Against Siena
The Quinnipiac University field hockey team clinched the fourth and final berth in the 2010 Northeast Conference Field Hockey Tournament with a 5-1 win against Siena. The Bobcats finish the regular season at 4-3 in conference play and 8-9 overall while Siena drops to 2-16 overall and 0-7 in NEC action.

Quinnipiac Field Hockey Falls To #19 Albany, 3-0, In Ann Arbor, Mich.
The Quinnipiac University field hockey team lost to nationally-ranked No. 19 Albany, 3-0, in a non-conference game played at the University of Michigan’s Ocker Field in Ann Arbor, Mich. The loss drops Quinnipiac to 2-4 on the season while Albany improves to 4-1.
