HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac field hockey head coach Becca Main has announced the addition of Isamarie Ramos (Coopersburg, Pa.) to the Bobcats' roster for the 2014 season. Ramos is currently the youngest member of Puerto Rico's National Field Hockey Team.
"Isamarie is a late addition to our Bobcat family and her excellent middle-distance track background coupled with her drive to excel will make her a perfect player to complete our 2014 class of ten freshman," Main said. "Isa is a well-rounded athlete and we look forward to working with her elite conditioning skill set to become a strong field hockey player."
Scholastically, Ramos led Southern Lehigh to three consecutive District titles in 2011, 2012 and 2013, in addition to the league championship in 2011. Ramos also helped her team to the Silver Medal at the Keystone State Games in 2013 after winning a Gold Medal at the 2011 U16 CNY National Field Hockey Festival.
A member of the Puerto Rican National Team, Ramos led her native country's squad to the Gold Medal in the Copa Olimpica tournament in 2011 and 2012 and the Bronze Medal at the Copa Invitacional in Guadalajara, Mexico in 2013. She also led the team to the Bronze Medal at the Copa Interamericana tournament in Panama City, Panama in 2013.
"I anticipate training Isa on the forward line as we prepare to improve our offensive output after the graduation of our top scorers in Jess Rusin and Kristin Engelke."
In addition to her extensive accomplishments on the field hockey turf, Ramos was a three-time track & field Most Valuable Player at Southern Lehigh while also winning her class steeplechase championship in 2010 and 2011.
