QU Field Hockey Honored With SGI/NFHCA National Academic Team Award; 14 Bobcats Placed on National Academic Squad
The Quinnipiac University field hockey team was honored by the SGI/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) with a 2014 Gladiator Division I National Academic Team Award for posting a combined grade-point average of at least 3.00. To go along with the NFHCA Team Award, 14 student-athletes were recognized by the SGI/NFHCA with National Academic Squad honors.

QU Field Hockey to Host 8th Annual “Be The Match” Bone Marrow Donor Testing Drive on Wednesday, April 1 at 10 AM
The Quinnipiac University field hockey team will be sponsoring the 8th annual "Be the Match" Bone Marrow Registry Drive at the QU Athletics and Recreation Center Pep Band room in Hamden. Anyone interested in registering with the National Marrow Donor Program is invited to join the Bobcats on Wednesday, April 1 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., as part of QU's Positive Play Initiative.

QU Field Hockey's Angie King Honored as 2014 Gladiator by SGI / NFHCA Division I Scholar of Distinction
Angelina King (South Windsor, Conn.) was recognized by the SGI/National Field Hockey Coaches Association as a 2014 "Division I Scholar of Distinction" after completing the first semester with a perfect 4.00 grade-point average (GPA). King was one of 79 Division I student-athletes to receive the award.

QU Field Hockey Announces Incoming Class of 2019
Quinnipiac field hockey head coach Becca Main has announced the signing of five players to National Letters of Intent set to join the Bobcats for the 2015 season. The incoming class includes: Rachel Foley (Davis, California), Kyla Johns (Darien, Connecticut), Kendall Nickel (Flemington, New Jersey), Selina Reichert (Lower Hutt, New Zealand) and Hannah Teicher (Bethesda, Maryland). The five committed players join Camryn Dias (Hopedale, Massachusetts), who joins Quinnipiac as a gray shirt athlete in the 2015 Spring semester, to make up the Bobcats’ six-member Class of 2019.

QU Field Hockey & Men's Soccer Set to Host 1st Annual Dodgeball Tournament on Feb. 14 to Benefit “Give Kids the World” Foundation
Quinnipiac University Athletics & Recreation is set to announce the field hockey and men's soccer programs will combine forces to host the 1st annual Dodgeball Tournament to benefit "Give Kids the World" Foundation on Saturday, Feb. 14. The Quinnipiac Intramural department will also be assisting in the effort throughout the day. In addition, a 50/50 raffle at the event features two tickets to the Quinnipiac vs. Yale men's ice hockey game on Feb. 20. Registration for the Dodgeball Tournament is open to all Quinnipiac students at the link above. The tournament, scheduled from 1-4 pm, will be held on Courts 1-2 at the Mount Carmel Rec Center All proceeds from the event will go towards the "Give Kids the World" Foundation.

QU Field Hockey Crowned NCAA Div. I Statistical Champion for Defensive Saves
The Quinnipiac field hockey team was announced as the NCAA Div. I statistical champion for defensive saves, as announced by the NCAA Media Coordination and Statistics staff on Monday, Jan. 26, 2015. In the coming months, the field hockey team will receive a plaque from the NCAA for recognition of the team’s remarkable achievement.

QU Field Hockey Adds Early Signee Camryn Dias For 2015-16 Season
Quinnipiac field hockey head coach Becca Main has announced the addition of Camryn Dias (Hopedale, Mass.) who'll join the Bobcats for the Spring 2015 season. Dias joins the Quinnipiac roster as the first-ever gray shirt athlete and will graduate high school half a year early to begin her career at Quinnipiac University.

Standout Goalkeeper Megan Conaboy Attends Tryout for USA Field Hockey's Women's High Performance Team
Quinnipiac field hockey senior standout goalkeeper Megan Conaboy (Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania) took part in a tryout for USA Field Hockey’s High Performance Team held over the weekend at the national training center in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The USA national trial drew players from across the country and Conaboy will now await the decision from the select committee that will arrive in the next week. If Conaboy advances, she will continue to work with the USA Field Hockey High Performance Team over the 2015 calendar year.

Megan Conaboy and Danielle Allan Named to 2014 Longstreth/NFHCA All-Mideast Region Team
Quinnipiac seniors Megan Conaboy (Clarks Summit, Pa.) and Danielle Allan (Riverdale, N.J.) were announced as 2014 Longstreth/NFHCA All-Mideast Region selections, as announced by the NFHCA on Monday, Nov. 17. Both Conaboy and Allan earn their first career All-Region honors with the announcement.

Danielle Allan and Lea Dietrichs Named to MAAC Field Hockey All-Tournament Team
Quinnipiac field hockey's Danielle Allan (Riverdale, N.J.) and Lea Dietrichs (Lueneburg, Germany) were named to the 2014 MAAC All-Tournament Team, as announced by the league office on Sunday, November 9. For Allan, the announcement marks the second straight year in which she was named to the All-Tournament Team while Dietrichs makes the cut for the first time in her young career.

No. 3 Seed QU Field Hockey Bounced From MAAC Semifinals With 3-1 Loss to No. 2 Rider
The No. 3 seed Quinnipiac field hockey team lost to No. 2 Rider, 3-1, in the MAAC Semifinals from So Sweet A Cat Field in West Long Branch, N.J. The Bobcats’ 2014 season comes to an end with an 8-11 overall record while the Broncs advance to the MAAC Championship Game and improve to 11-8 on the season.

Gemma Cirera Wins Second Consecutive MAAC Field Hockey Rookie of the Week Honors
Another week and not much has changed for Quinnipiac field hockey freshman Gemma Cirera (Barcelona, Spain) as the rookie forward has won back-to-back MAAC Rookie of the Week honors, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, Nov. 4. With her second straight weekly honor, Cirera becomes the first Bobcat in program history to take down consecutive conference rookie of the week awards.

Facing a howling wind storm and frigid temperatures from Vonnie Gros Field, the Quinnipiac field hockey powered through to score a 4-2 win over Villanova on Sunday. Quinnipiac’s final non-conference tune-up before the 2014 MAAC Tournament ended in triumph for head coach Becca Main and the Bobcats as Sunday’s win marked the first victory over a BIG EAST opponent in the program’s 20-year history.

QU Field Hockey Concludes 2014 Regular Season Against Villanova on Sunday from West Chester, Pa.
Fresh off clinching a berth in the upcoming MAAC Tournament, the Quinnipiac field hockey team (7-10, 3-2 MAAC) will take on Villanova (4-13, 1-4 BIG EAST) on Sunday in what will be the Bobcats’ final non-conference tune-up prior to the conference tournament on Friday, Nov. 7. The Bobcats will be looking for their first win over a BIG EAST opponent in program history as Quinnipiac comes into Sunday’s meeting 0-13 all-time against the field hockey powerhouse conference. Sunday’s game will be held at a neutral site as the Vonnie Gros Field in West Chester, Pa. will serve as the site of the non-conference matchup.

The Quinnipiac field hockey team will live to fight another day as the Bobcats upended the first place Sacred Heart Pioneers on Friday, 1-0, from the QU Field Hockey Turf Complex. Heading into Friday’s matchup sitting in control of their own destiny in terms of playoff positioning, the Bobcats capitalized in the highly-contested battle with freshman Gemma Cirera (Barcelona, Spain) banging home the second half game-winner. Quinnipiac’s triumph moves the Bobcats to 3-2 in MAAC play in 2014 and pushes them into the postseason for a shot at defending their 2013 MAAC Championship.

QU Field Hockey Challenges First Place Sacred Heart at Home on Friday in Crucial MAAC Contest
With countless scenarios still in play for the Quinnipiac field hockey team (6-10, 2-2 MAAC), a matchup with first place Sacred Heart (9-7, 3-1 MAAC) sets up to be one of the most intriguing games of the year within the conference. The Bobcats are still on the outside looking in for playoff positioning in the MAAC and the only scenario that would guarantee Quinnipiac a spot in the MAAC Tournament would be a win on Friday over the Pioneers. Meanwhile, the Pioneers would clinch at least a share of the MAAC Regular Season Championship with a win over the Bobcats so much is on the line for both teams.

Quinnipiac field hockey’s freshman forward Gemma Cirera (Barcelona, Spain) was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Week on Tuesday, Oct. 28, as announced by the league office. Cirera becomes the second Quinnipiac player in program history to take home the MAAC Rookie of the Week honors, joining fellow classmate Michelle Federico (Cheshire, Conn.) who took home the weekly honor earlier this season.

QU Field Hockey Dealt 4-3 Overtime Loss to Monmouth on Senior Day
In a game that played over eerily similar to Friday, the Quinnipiac field hockey team held the lead throughout but the opposition, this time the Monmouth Hawks, made the key plays down the stretch to escape with a 4-3 victory in overtime. For the Bobcats, Sunday’s loss is their second straight home overtime defeat as Quinnipiac now falls to 2-2 in the MAAC while Monmouth jumps over the Bobcats in the standings with a 2-1 mark in conference play.

QU Field Hockey Falls in Heartbreaking Fashion to Rider, 2-1, in Overtime
In a game that played out much to Quinnipiac’s advantage in regulation, their traditional conference rival pulled out a last minute stunner as the Rider Broncs defeated the Bobcats, 2-1, in overtime on Friday afternoon. Quinnipiac’s loss drops the Bobcats to 6-9 overall (2-1 MAAC) but more importantly fall out of first place in the MAAC as Rider (9-6, 2-0 MAAC) stands as the only remaining undefeated team in the conference.

After finishing the MAAC road regular season slate with an undefeated 2-0 record, the Quinnipiac field hockey team (6-8, 2-0 MAAC) will now welcome a familiar foe in the Rider Broncs (8-6, 1-0 MAAC) to the QU Field Hockey Turf Complex on Friday, Oct. 24 at 3:00 pm. Certainly battled tested, the Bobcats edged out both Siena and Bryant by one-goal margins to sweep their MAAC regular season road slate for 2014. Still with three games remaining in conference play, the Bobcats and Broncs will do battle on Friday with first place in the MAAC standings on the line.

The Quinnipiac University field hockey and women's lacrosse teams both spent time with the Hamden Family University on Friday, Oct. 17 at the Hamden Fall Food Truck Festival. Both squads sent a bevy of players to the local event held at the Hamden Town Center Park as the student-athletes and staff members played games with the children of the Hamden Family University and kept the group well entertained throughout the afternoon.

The Quinnipiac field hockey coaching staff has announced the Bobcats’ 7th annual Play4TheCure fundraising effort raised over $2,000 that’ll be donated in-full to the National Foundation for Cancer Research. Among the deserving causes to which NFCR aligns with, the funds raised by Quinnipiac will directly support the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Prostate Cancer Research and Skin Cancer Research.

QU Field Hocked Edged By No. 19 Old Dominion, 3-1, in 7th Annual Play4TheCure Game
The upset-minded Quinnipiac field hockey team gave their No. 19 nationally-ranked foe all they could handle from the QU Field Hockey Turf Complex but they were ultimately edged by Old Dominion, 3-1, in a Sunday non-conference match. An impressive all-around effort from the Bobcats (5-8, 1-0 MAAC) gave the Lady Monarchs (7-6, 1-1 BIG EAST) trouble at times including a second half that was largely dominated by the home team. Quinnipiac will look to build on this momentum heading into their pivotal four-game MAAC run starting on Sunday at Bryant.

The non-conference road loss snaps the Bobcats’ two-game winning streak and drops Quinnipiac to 3-6 on the season while Maine picks up their second win in three games to improve to 3-6.

The Quinnipiac field hockey team put together a complete 70-minute effort as the Bobcats scored three unanswered goals to pick up an upset victory over Hofstra, 4-2, from the QU Field Hockey Turf Complex. Facing a high flying Hofstra offense, it was the Bobcat offense that came to play on Thursday afternoon as senior Danielle Allan (Riverdale, N.J.) picked up two goals, including the game-winner in the second half as Quinnipiac won their second straight game in come-from-behind fashion. Quinnipiac’s second straight victory moves the Bobcats to 3-5 on the season while the Pride drop their second straight and fall to 7-3 in 2014.

QU Field Hockey Drops Non-Conference Matchup in Closing Minutes to UMass Lowell, 3-2
Despite a spirited comeback attempt, the Quinnipiac field hockey team dropped a non-conference contest to UMass Lowell, 3-2, at home on Tuesday afternoon. The Bobcats battled back from a pair of one-goal deficits but couldn’t muster one more rally as the River Hawks blasted home the game-winner with just 4:38 remaining. With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 1-5 on the season while UMass Lowell moves to 3-4.

After two straight road games last week, the Quinnipiac field hockey team makes its return to Hamden with a non-conference match on Tuesday against UMass Lowell. Still in search of their first home win on the season, the Bobcats (1-4, 0-0 MAAC) will look to piggyback off their 3-1 victory over the River Hawks last season and get back in the win column.

Meghan McCullough Scores Twice to Lead QU Field Hockey Past Holy Cross, 2-0
The first road trip in 2014 for the Quinnipiac field hockey team ended in victory as the Bobcats took down Holy Cross from the Hart Turf Field on Wednesday night, 2-0. Junior Meghan McCullough (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.) scored both Bobcat goals on the evening to lead Quinnipiac to their first victory of the 2014 season. With the victory, Quinnipiac improves to 1-3 while the Crusaders fall to 2-3.

Megan Conaboy Wins Her Second Straight MAAC Defensive Player of the Week Honor
Coming off one of the best games in the history of Quinnipiac field hockey, the Bobcats' senior goalkeeper Megan Conaboy (Clarks Summit, Pa.) earned her second consecutive MAAC Defensive Player of the Week honor, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, Sept. 9. The Quinnipiac field hockey team (0-3, 0-0 MAAC) will hit the road for the first time in 2014 on Wednesday as they travel up to Worcester, Mass. to take on the Holy Cross Crusaders (2-2, 0-0 Patriot) at 7:05 pm from the Hart Turf Field. In search of their first victory in 2014, this will be the 10th straight year in which the Bobcats and Crusaders have faced off, with the Bobcats claiming victories in four straight meetings against Holy Cross.

After playing host to the first annual Longstreth/Bobcat Classic last weekend, the Quinnipiac field hockey team (0-2, 0-0 MAAC) returns home to face the No. 8 nationally-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions (2-0, 0-0 BIG 10) on Sunday at 12:00 pm in Hamden. This will be the first time the Bobcats have faced off against the national power Nittany Lions from the QU Field Hockey Turf Complex and just their second all-time meeting against Penn State.

Megan Conaboy Named MAAC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week
Quinnipiac senior goalkeeper Megan Conaboy (Clarks Summit, Pa.) was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, Sept. 2, as announced by the conference office. Conaboy is the MAAC's first Defensive Player of the Week honoree of the season as the reigning MAAC Co-Goalkeeper of the Year started the year off with a couple big games against national powerhouse programs.

Field Hockey's Effort Falls Short in 3-2 Overtime Loss to Lafayette
In a game that saw the Quinnipiac field hockey team take a 2-0 lead deep into the second half, the Bobcats saw a game within its grasps slip away in a 3-2 loss in overtime to Lafayette at the QU Field Hockey Turf Complex. Quinnipiac held a halftime lead and built a two-goal lead off the stick of senior captain Danielle Allan (Riverdale, N.J.) but the Leopards came alive with two goals in the final five minutes of regulation and then with the game-winner 11:22 into the overtime period. With the loss, Quinnipiac drops to 0-2 on the season while the Leopards improve to 2-0.

The Quinnipiac field hockey team is coming off one of the most successful seasons in program history after capturing the inaugural Metro Atlantic Athletic Regular Season Championship and then winning the MAAC Tournament Championship. Fresh off their first NCAA Tournament berth in 10 years, the 2014 Bobcats kickoff the new season hosting the inaugural Longstreth/Bobcat Classic this weekend from Aug. 29-31 at the QU Field Hockey Turf Complex. No. 13 nationally-ranked Boston College and Lafayette will join the Bobcats for the weekend in which each team plays two games starting with the Bobcats and Eagles on Friday at 3:00 pm.

Field Hockey Edged By Defending National Champs UConn, 2-1, in Sunday Home Exhibition
The upset-minded Quinnipiac field hockey team gave their intrastate rival all they could handle from the QU Field Hockey Turf Complex but they were ultimately edged by the defending national champs, 2-1, in a Sunday exhibition match. An impressive all-around effort gave the defending NCAA champion Huskies trouble at times and has Quinnipiac heading into their 2014 season opener on Friday at home against Boston College with plenty of momentum.

QU Field Hockey Selected as MAAC Preseason Favorites; Allan, Conaboy and Osantisch Named to Preseason All-MAAC Team
The Quinnipiac University field hockey team was chosen to finish first in the 2014 MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, as voted on by the league's six head coaches. The 2013 MAAC Champions return 11 letterwinners, including three All-MAAC Preseason selections in seniors Danielle Allan (Riverdale, N.Y.), Megan Conaboy (Clarks Summit, Pa.) and Megan Osanitsch (Harwinton, Conn.), from a team that is fresh off their first conference title since the 2003 season.
