The Quinnipiac field hockey team will host the University of Vermont on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 11 a.m. and Saint Joseph's University on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 2 p.m. at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey Turf Complex in Hamden, Conn.

Following this weekend's games against Vermont and Saint Joseph's the Bobcats wrap-up their three-game homestand on Thursday, Sept. 26 against Holy Cross.
Scouting The Vermont Catamounts
Vermont enters Saturday's match-up with an overall record of 0-6. Last weekend, Vermont hosted Brown and No. 5 Virginia for the Catamount Field Hockey Classic, losing 3-1 and 7-0, respectively. Ashley McDonald leads the team with five goals and is tied for the point lead (10) with Colleen Slaughter, who has tallied three goals and four assists for 10 points. Slaughter's four assists lead the team as well. In goal, Stephanie Zygmunt has played all but six minutes for the Catamounts, posting .686 save percentage and a 5.45 goals-against average.
All-Time Against Vermont
Quinnipiac owns the advantage over Vermont with a 2-0 record all-time, dating back to their first game on Sept. 26, 2003 - a 1-0 victory by Quinnipiac in Hamden, Conn. Last season, Quinnipiac came away with a 2-1 win in Burlington, Vt.
Scouting The Saint Joseph Hawks
Saint Joseph's enters the weekend with an overall record of 1-6 through its first seven games. The Hawks lost their first five games of the year before knocking off Towson, 1-0, on Sunday, Sept. 15. On Thursday, Sept. 19, St. Joseph's dropped a double-overtime heartbreaker to Pacific, 3-2, at home. Nicole Gerdes scored both of SJU's goals in the loss. She currently leads the Hawks with three goals and two assists for eight points. Shannon McNeil has scored twice this season while Marin Vreeburg leads the team with three assists.
Point Night In Lowell
Three players had multiple point games against UMass Lowell, led by a two-goal night from Danielle Allan while Jennalise Taylor picked up two assists in the Bobcats' 3-1 win. Jess Rusin also picked up two points on her team-leading fifth goal of the year.
Allan Scores TwiceNot only was Tuesday night's two-goal performance her first points of the year, it was also Allan's first multiple-goal game since Oct. 28, 2011, a 5-2 win against Sacred Heart.
Where She Ranks
Allan now has 14 goals for her career, moving past former Bobcat Jillian Carroll '08 for 18th place in career goals at Quinnipiac.
Last season, Jennalise Taylor and Jess Rusin tied for the team lead with eight multiple-point games. To date, Rusin has mutliple points in four of first six games while Taylor's two-assist game against Lowell was her first this year.
Eye On The Prize
Rusin scored her 28th career goal in the win, leaving her two shy of second place all-time, held by Catie Canetti '01, and four shy of tying the program record of 32 held by Heather Cady '02. Rusin also moves past Chelsea Osbrey '06 for third place with 68 career points. She trails Canetti (69) for second place and Cady (79) for the program points record.

Kacie And The Sunshine Band
Junior Kacie McCreesh (Perkasie, Pa.) scored her second career goal on Friday, Sept. 13 in a 3-1 loss to Lafayette. McCreesh was set up on the play by Jess Rusin (Garwood, N.J.), who picked up her second assist of the season.
The Quinnipiac University field hockey team has joined hands with the National Foundation for Cancer Research to participate in its fundraising campaign entitled Play4theCure, in which sports teams across the country are invited to participate by committing to donate proceeds from at least one game to NFCR. Quinnipiac University will be raising funds during their game against Yale University on Oct. 6, 2013 at 12:00 pm on the Quinnipiac University Field Hockey Turf Field in Hamden, CT. The Quinnipiac University Field Hockey Parent Association and team is selling raffle tickets for the "Chance Auction". The Chance Auction consists of baskets that will be full of various items donated by Quinnipiac University Athletic Department members and varsity teams as well as donations from the field hockey team and parents. Players on the Quinnipiac University team will be wearing pink warm-up shirts, pink shoe laces and will start the game with a pink ball in support of the cause. All proceeds made from the Chance Auction will be donated to NFCR. The team will also be collecting general donations.
