Zimniski and Lewis Named To 2012 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-Region Team, Northeast Conference All-Tournament Team
Quinnipiac senior captains Lauren Zimniski and Nicole Lewis were named to the 2012 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I All-Mideast Region Team. Zimniski and Lewis were also named to the NEC All-Tournament Team.
Lewis was named the NEC Goalkeeper of the Year at the conclusion of the 2012 season that saw Quinnipiac qualify for the NEC Tournament for the fifth consecutive season. Lewis also earned All-Northeast Conference First Team honors after led the NEC with a .818 save percentage and a 1.44 goals-against average after posting an 11-2 record overall. In seven NEC games, Lewis was 5-2 with a 1.18 GAA and a .875 save percentage. She also led the NEC with four shutouts while ranking among the national leaders in all categories. In the NEC Tournament, Lewis stopped a Quinnipiac program-record 13 saves in a loss to top-ranked Rider, earning her All-Tournament honors for the second consecutive year.
Zimniski earns her first All-Region honor after a successful senior season at Quinnipiac. The Bobcats captain earned her second All-NEC honor of her career after she was named an All-NEC Second Team Midfielder as a junior in 2010 as well. Zimniski picked up a team-best eight assists, which also ranked fourth in the leage. She finishes her career with 14 for her career. Zimniski's 14 assists rank 18th all-time at Quinnipiac.Zimniski was named to the All-NEC Tournament team after she scored Quinnipiac's only goal of the 2012 tournament.
