Northeast Conference Opener
The Quinnipiac field hockey team will take on Sacred Heart University in its first Northeast Conference action of the season on Sunday, Oct. 7 at 12 p.m. at Campus Field in Fairfield, Conn.

Last Time Out
Quinnipiac defeated Harvard, 3-1, behind goals by Jess Rusin, Cate Colucci and Amanda Danziger. Rusin's goal was the 20th of her career, while Colucci was her first in her four years with the Bobcats. 

All-Time Against Sacred Heart
Quinnipiac and Sacred Heart have squared-off 22 times in their 14-year history, including four times in the NEC Tournament. Quinnipiac has won 13 of those 22 match-ups, including the last three. The Bobcats are also 5-2 all-time on their home field against the Pioneers, with their last loss in Hamden coming in 2007. 

Scouting Sacred Heart
Sacred Heart is currently 5-5 overall and 0-0 in the Northeast Conference. After winning four of its first five games, the Pioneers have lost four its last five, scoring just once in those four losses. Liz Bergman leads the team with four goals and an assist for nine points while Sarah Bergman has dished out a team-best three assists. 

Chart Topper
With a goal against Harvard last week, Jess Rusin became the first player in Quinnipiac history to score 20 career goals before her senior season. The junior also became the 10th player in program history to reach the 20-goal mark.

Movin' On Up 
With a goal and an assist last week, Rusin increases her career points total to 48, good for ninth all-time. She trails former teammate Kaitlyn Notarianni (49) for eighth place. 

Quinnipiac's September Athlete of the Month
Rusin had an incredible month for the Bobcats, leading the team in goals (6), assists (4) and points (16) in nine games for the month of September. Rusin also had five multiple-point games on her way to becoming the first player in Quinnipiac field hockey history to score 20 career goals by her junior season, while also becoming the 10th player all-time to hit the mark. Against Yale on Sept. 2, Rusin accounted for both of Quinnipiac's goals in a 3-2 loss. Against Vermont, she had a goal and an assist in a 2-1 win. She went on to string together a three-game point streak with a goal and an assist against Lafayette on Sept. 16, an assist against Maine on Sept. 21 and a goal against American. She closed out the month with a goal and an assist against Harvard on Sept. 30.

Best Non-Conference Record Of All-Time
With the Bobcats' win against Harvard, Quinnipiac improved to 7-4 on the season, giving the Bobcats their most non-conference wins in a single-season in program history. Quinnipiac previously won six non-conference games in 2011 and 2003. Quinnipiac's 7-4 record matches its best record through the team's first 11 games since the 2005 season.
