Field Hockey Opens 2012 Season At Holy Cross On Friday, Aug. 24; Hosts Towson On Sunday, Aug. 26

Season Opener
 The Quinnipiac University field hockey team open the 2012 regular season on Friday, Aug. 24 when it travels to Worcester, Mass. to take on Holy Cross at 11 a.m. at Hart Turf Field. The Bobcats then play their first home game of the 2012 season on Sunday, Aug. 26 when they host Towson at 12 p.m. at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey Turf Complex.

Northeast Conference Preseason Poll
The Quinnipiac University field hockey team was picked to finish fourth in the 2012 Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, while also receiving one first place vote. Quinnipiac qualified for the NEC Tournament for the fourth straight season in 2012 after posting an 11-8 overall record including a 5-2 mark in conference play.

Your Captains
Quinnipiac field hockey head coach Becca Main announced at the conclusion of last season that seniors Nicole Lewis (Amherst, N.Y.) and Lauren Zimniski (Dallas, Pa.) as well as junior Jennalise Taylor (Yardley, Pa.) have been named captains for the upcoming 2012 season.

Tough To Replace
Quinnipiac head coach Becca Main will look to spell the loss of most of its offense as well as three all-Northeast Conference selections in Kimberly Cunniff, Kaitlyn Notarianni and Megan McCreedy. Cunniff will remain with the team as a volunteer assistant, but her team-leading 14 goals and 32 points will be missed. Additionally, Notarianni tallied eight goals and five assists for 20 points while McCreedy led the team with 14 assists en route to the all-time record.

Don't Test Jess
Jess Rusin (Garwood, N.J.0 turned in one of the historically great seasons in Quinnipiac history, scoring 10 goals and finished second on the team with 22 points.  Rusin enters her third year at Quinnipiac among the all-time leaders in career goals and points and was one of three players with three multiple-goal games last season.

Allan Is All-In
Sophomore Danielle Allan(Riverdale, N.J.) had an incredible first season in Hamden as a freshman, scoring eight goals and assisting on four more as she captured a pair of NEC Rookie of the Week honors. In addition, Allan led the team with three game-winning goals and also became the first freshman in Quinnipiac history to score in three straight games.

She's Back!!!
 Kristen Engelke (Medford, N.J.), who sat our last season with an injury, will also return to the Bobcats' attack this season. In 2010, Engelke was the third highest scorer in the Bobcats' line-up, scoring six goals while assisting on three more for 15 points.

Zimniski In The Middle
Zimniski has been a natural leader for Quinnipiac over the last three years and will be looked upon to balance the Bobcats' transition game. A 2010 All-Northeast Conference selection, she will lead a talented group that features several experienced players.

Taylor Made
Taylor will also serve as a tri-captain for this year's after establishing herself as a dynamic, versatile defender.

The 'Keeper
 Nicole Lewis returns for her fifth season as the backbone of the Bobcats' defense. The starter for each of the last two seasons, Lewis had a banner season in 2011, ranking among the conference leaders in most statistical categories while ascending Quinnipiac's all-time charts.
