Field Hockey Beats Yale In Shootout, 3-2
HAMDEN, Conn. – Kaitlyn Notarianni (Clarks Summit, Pa.) scored the game-winning goal in a shootout as Quinnipiac rallied against Yale, 3-2. Yale led, 2-1, at halftime before Kimberly Cunniff's (Walpole, Mass.) blast off a corner tied the game and sent it overtime. After two periods of scoreless, overtime play, the game was ultimately decided with Quinnipiac out-shot Yale, 4-2, in the penalty stroke-off. With the win, Quinnipiac improves to 2-1 on the season while Yale drops to 0-2.
Freshman standout Danielle Allan (Riverdale, N.J.) scored her team-leading third goal of the year put the Bobcats on the board in the 14th minute of play while Cunniff's goal early in the second half tied the game and ultimately sent it to overtime. Cunniff handled the ball off a corner to the right side of the circle before blasting a shot past Yale's Emily Cain in goal.
Megan McCreedy (White River, South Africa) assisted on both of Quinnipiac's regulation goals to give her a team-high three assists on the year while Notarianni also picked up an assist on Cunniff's goal. Keeper Nicole Lewis (East Amherst, N.Y.) had a career-day, stopping 19 of 21 shots on goal in 100 minutes in net, a career-high for the Bobcats senior goalkeeper.
Notarianni has now scored in each of the Bobcats' three games, though the stroke-off marker does not count to her season, or career, goal totals. Cunniff, McCreedy and Maria Malonoski (Phoenixville, Pa.) also converted on their stroke-off attempts.

Erin Carter had a goal and an assist for Yale, while Mia Rosati also scored for the Bulldogs. Chelsey Locarno also picked up an assist.
Quinnipiac returns to action on Friday, Sept. 9 when they travel to Hamilton, N.Y. to face Colgate at 7 p.m. for traveling to University Park, Pa. to face Penn State on Saturday, Sept. 11 at 12 p.m.
