Kaitlyn Notarianni (Clarks Summit, Pa.) and Megan McCreedy (White River, South Africa) led the Quinnipiac field hockey team to a 2-1-1 record in a four-game set at the Monmouth Spring Tournament. Quinnipiac defeated LaSalle in the first game, 2-0, before falling to St. Joseph's, 0-1. The Bobcats bounced back with a 2-1 win against Rutger's before tying Monmouth, 1-1.
Notarianni was the high-scorer for the Bobcats in the four-game series, scoring twice and assisting on another goal. McCreedy was the playmaker for the Bobcats after missing the fall season with an injury. Nicole Lewis (East Amherst, N.Y.) had a solid day in goal, stopping 13-of-16 shots on goal while Kim Cunniff (Walpole, Mass.) controlled the back field for the Bobcats.
In the Bobcats' 2-0 win against LaSalle, Notarianni put the Bobcats on the board on an assist from McCreedy. She later picked up an assist on Quinnipiac's second goal by Kacie McCreesh (Perkasie, Pa.). The Bobcats lost the second game of the tournament, 1-0, to St. Joseph's.
Notarianni scored her second goal of the day on a pass from Lauren Zimniski (Dallas, Pa.) before Jessice Portal (Avon, Conn.) scored the game-winner, unassisted, in a 2-1 win against Rutgers.
The afternoon ended in a 1-1 tie with host Monmouth in a game that saw freshmen Brittany Gentile (Derry, N.H.) score on a pass from classmate Christa Romano (Madison, N.J.).
Quinnipiac is scheduled to host Bryant and Colgate on Saturday, April 2 in a four-game tournament scheduled to kick-off at 11 a.m. at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey & Lacrosse Turf Complex.
