Back At The Friendly Confines
Quinnipiac returns home on Sunday, Sept. 26 to host Lafayette
College at 11 a.m. at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey & Lacrosse
Turf Complex in Hamden, Conn. The Bobcats return home after a
three-game road trip that featured a pair of games against
nationally-ranked Albany and Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich. before a
game in Orono, Me. against the University of Maine. Quinnipiac is
2-6 entering Sunday's game and host a Lafayette squad that boasts a
2-4 record.
Cunning Cunniff
Kim Cunniff scored her second goal of the season in the Bobcats 6-1
loss to Maine on Friday night. The third-year forward blasted a
shot by the Black Bears' goalie on a penalty corner to answer five
straight markers scored by Maine.
Shop At 'Cole's
Nicole Lewis (East Amherst, N.Y.) stopped six of Maine's eight
shots on goal over the final 49 minutes of play. Lewis has started
five of Quinnipiac's eight games thus far, posting a 2-3-0 record
with a .707 save percentage and a 3.03 goals-against average.
Scouting Lafayette
Lafayette is currently 2-4 overall, with losses in its last two
games against Penn State, 3-0 on Sept. 15, and Virginia, 4-0 on
Sept. 18. Lafayette is led by Deanna DiCroce with two goals and two
assists for a team-high six points. Meghan Cicchi has scored twice
and assisted on one more for five points. In goal, Kelsey Andersen
has logged every minute of the season in the cage, tallying a 2-4-0
record with a .659 save percentage and a 2.88 goals-against
average.
All-Time Against Lafayette
Quinnipiac and Lafayette have played three times in their programs'
histories with the Leopards taking all three contests. Lafayette
won the first match-up, on Sept. 9, 2007 in Easton, Pa., 2-1 before
knocking off the Bobcats 3-1 in 2008 and 2-0 last season.
Looking Ahead
Quinnipiac returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 5 when it hosts Brown
University at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey & Lacrosse Turf
Complex in Hamden, Conn. at 4 p.m. The Bobcats will be sponsoring a
fund raiser that day to support Breast Cancer Awareness through the
Susan G. Komen Foundation. Bobcat fans are invited to wear pink
that day in support of Breast Cancer Awareness, while parents of
both teams will be holding a bake sale at the field to raise
funds.
NEC Time
Quinnipiac will open Northeast Conference play on Sunday, Oct. 10
when it travels to Fairfield, Conn. to take on Sacred Heart at 12
p.m. They will then host Rider on Oct. 15 at 3:30 p.m. and Monmouth
on Oct. 17 at 1 p.m.
