The Road And Then Back Again
The Quinnipiac field hockey team will travel to Boston,
Mass. on Friday, Sept. 10 to take on Northeastern University in a
non-conference match-up at Sweeney Field at 2 p.m. The Bobcats then
host Colgate University on Sunday, Sept. 12 at the Quinnipiac Field
Hockey & Lacrosse Turf Complex at 1 p.m. Quinnipiac is 1-2
after weekend-losses to #9 Boston College (5-1) and Yale (4-3).
Northeastern and Columbia are both 1-3 for the week.
Scouting Northeastern
Northeastern is currently 1-3 on the year and are coming off a 3-2
win against Maine on Sept. 5. Kaela Barker currently leads the
Huskies with five points (two goals, one assist) while Crystal
Polland sits in second with a pair of goals for four points.
Freshman Lindsay Bennett scored her first career goal against
Maine, and was named the CAA Rookie of the Week. In goal, Lizzie
Priest has logged every minute in goal for Northeastern, posting a
3.43 goals-against average with eight goals allowed over four
games.
All-Time Against Northeastern
Quinnipiac is 0-9 all-time against Northeastern, dating back to
their first meeting on Sept. 15, 1999. Seven of the nine match-ups
all-time have come on Northeastern's home field. Last season,
Quinnipiac lost to Northeastern, 3-1, on their home field.
Scouting Colgate
Colgate is currently 1-3 and will play Yale on Saturday, Sept. 11.
Colgate is led by senior goalie Kirsten Lalli, who has won the
Patriot League Goalie of the Week award for the past two weeks. She
leads the league in save percentage at .788 and is fourth in
goals-against average with a mark of 4.50. Offensively, the Raiders
top scorer is Laura Denenga with three goals for six points. Halle
Biggar is second with two goals while Kendall Zaharris leads the
team with three assists.
All-Time Against Colgate
Quinnipiac is 2-0 all-time against Colgate, dating back to the two
teams' first meeting on Oct. 23, 1999 when the Bobcats defeated the
Raiders, 5-3, in Hamden. Quinnipiac took the second game of the
two-year series on Oct. 21, 2000, 5-1, in Hamilton, N.Y.
Well, That Didn't Take Long
Freshman forward Amanda Danziger had a career game against Yale,
tallying four points on a goal and two assists in just her third
collegiate game. Danziger became the first Quinnipiac freshman to
total four points in a game since 2005.
The
Captains Lead
Senior captains Katie Van Nostrand and Tina Watkins had career
games against Yale on Sunday. Van Nostrand scored two goals, both
off of corners, while Watkins picked up two assists.
Double Zero
Amanda DeLouise (#00) got her first start in goal against Yale on
Sunday, recording 10 saves over 63 minutes of play.
