The honor by the Longstreth and the NFHCA comes to Grossman for the
second consecutive year and third time in her career while Longacre
is a first-time honoree. Of the 32 players named to the Mideast
Region team, the Northeast Conference had five players: Grossman
and Longacre and three players from Lock Haven.
Grossman was a four-time All-NEC selection, and was named the conference's top goalie for each of the last two seasons. As a freshman, she was named the NEC's Rookie of the Year while also being named the only freshman on the conference's first team. For her career, she has been a permanent fixture among the NEC and national leaders in save percentage and goals-against average, while also becoming just the third goalkeeper in Quinnipiac's Division I history to record 450 saves for her career.
"Jenna Grossman just completed the most decorated career of her senior class and is only the second player in the program's 15 year history to gain this many accolades, joining fellow goalkeeper Erin McKay '05," head coach Becca Kohlis said. "As a four time All-Northeast Conference player, and now with her third selection to the NFHCA Mideast regional team, she is really going to leave her mark in the record books. To say her shoes would be difficult to fill in the future is an understatement; they won't make her shoes again in the next millenium. Jenna is a wonderful example for future Bobcats as a player with class, grace, humility and elite skills that can change a game or a moment with just her presence."
Longacre earned her first All-Region and All-NEC honors of her career this season. The senior from Bethlehem, Pa. was among the First-Team defensive players in the NEC and one of three NEC players on the Longstreth/NFHCA All-Region team. Longacre anchored a Quinnipiac defense that ranked among the top defensive units in the NEC, while also posting one defensive save during the season.
"Brandy Longacre used to be our most underrated player," Kohli explained. "But now she is finally getting the accolades she deserves for a career spent cleaning up all our field mistakes on the defensive side of the ball. Brandy is a very elite athlete with tremendous speed and strength. She became our teams' most trusted defender and I am so proud to see her gain accolades fitting of a player of her caliber and dedication."
