Field Hockey Has Eleven Players Named To NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac University field hockey team was one of 59 honored with a 2008 NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award. Quinnipiac was one of six Northeast Conference schools on the list. Quinnipiac also landed 11 players on the NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad.

Cassandra Adams (Shushan, N.Y.), Megan Brady (Walpole, Mass.), Christine Grady (Enfield, Conn.), Lauren Hartnett (Walpole, Mass.), Nicole Lewis (East Amherst, N.Y.), MacKenzie Liptak (Schuylerville, N.Y.), Brandy Longacre (Bethlehem, Pa.), Liz Marini (Canton, Mass.), Megan McCreedy (White River, South Africa), Brittany Riggio (Deep River, Conn.) and Lauren Zimniski (Dallas, Pa.) were all named to the team. Athletes qualified for the team by posting a 3.30 or higher. All 11 players were also named to the 2008 Northeast Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll.

Earlier this season, Hartnett was named to the All-Northeast Conference First Team. Harnett after she reached career highs in goals (five), assists (four) and points (14). Against NEC teams, Hartnett led the Bobcats with six points totaling two goals and two assists in conference play. Hartnett's top game was arguably her five-point performance against Siena in a 5-0 win. Hartnett scored twice and assisted on another goal in the Bobcats' victory. She also scored the game-winner against Fairfield in a 6-2 victory.
