Vincent Guglietti (East Haven, Conn.) collected four hits on the day, with a hit in the first game which led to a run scored before going 3-for-5 in the second game with two RBI and another run scored. Scott Donaghue (Marlboro, N.J.) and Ryan Nelson (Knoxville, Tenn.) both had a pair of hits in the first game while Donaghue drove in run, and Nelson drove in two.
Nic Civale (East Windsor, Conn.) drove a run in in both games. In the second game, Brian Ruditys (Boothwyn, Pa.) and Rob Pescitelli (Bay Shore, N.Y.) both collected two hits with Pescitelli driving in and scoring a run.
Justin Thomas (Enfield, Conn.) was handed his first loss of the season after giving up three runs on three hits over five innings pitched. Freshman Brandon Shileikis (North Dighton, Mass.) scattered four hits over two innings while giving up two runs – one earned. Matt DeRosa (Monroe, Conn.) saw action in both games, hurling a pair of scoreless innings.
In the first game, Quinnipiac pushed a run across in the fourth inning to take a 1-0 lead before the Spiders responded with a three-run fifth inning. Richmond also accounted for a run in the sixth and seventh innings to take a 5-1 lead. In the ninth, Nelson drove in two runs with a double before Civale drove in Nelson to pull the Bobcats within a run.
In the second game, Quinnipiac dug itself out of a 3-0 home to take a 4-3 lead through the fifth inning. The lead was short lived as Richmond responded with a two-run sixth inning and a one-run seventh to take a 6-4 lead. Quinnipiac pushed a run across in the top of the inning with two outs before leaving two runners on base to end the game.
Quinnipiac returns to action on Tuesday, Mar. 11 when it travels to Durham, N.C. to take on Duke University in a non-conference match-up at Jack Coombs Field at 3 p.m.
