The New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) honored two Quinnipiac baseball players for their performances during the 2014 season. Starting pitcher Thomas Jankins (West Brookfield, Massachusetts) was named the Robin Roberts Best Starting Pitcher, as well as All-NECBL First Team while Vincent Guglietti (East Haven, Connecticut) was named the Most Improved Player in the league as well as All-NECBL Second Team.

The Quinnipiac University baseball team's 2014 season ended with a 5-2 loss to Monmouth in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Baseball Championship tournament at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood, N.J. With the loss, Quinnipiac's year ends at 18-31. It also marks the final game of head coach Dan Gooley's coaching career.

Dense fog in Lakewood, N.J. has postponed Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament play on Thursday, May 22. Quinnipiac was scheduled to face the winner of the elimination game between Monmouth and Manhattan on Thursday night. That game, currently tied at 6-6 in the 10th inning, will be completed on Friday, May 23 at 10:30 a.m. The Bobcats will face the winner of that game approximately 30 minutes after its completion.

Generating runs by way of the long ball hadn’t been incorporated into Quinnipiac’s arsenal this year. That all changed however when the Bobcats took a trip to Biondi Park on Wednesday afternoon. The QU baseball team hit four homeruns and cruised to an 11-5 victory over Dartmouth at Red Rolfe Field in Hanover. The Bobcats improved to 6-15 on the season.

Delaney will assume head coaching duties effective on July 1, 2014. He is currently the Bobcats’ associate head coach under long-time head coach Dan Gooley’s in the latter’s final season.
