Quinnipiac softball junior Jordan Paolucci (Mary Lake, N.Y.) and baseball sophomore Vincent Guglietti (East Haven, Conn.) have been named the Quinnipiac Athletes of the Month for May.
Paolucci batted a team-high .500 while also posting a .600 on-base percentage while starting five of the Bobcats' six games behind the plate. Paolucci was also named to the 2013 All-Northeast Conference First Team, as well as the NFCA All-Northeast Region Second Team and the CollegeSportsMadness.com All-Northeast Conference Team. For the season, she led Quinnipiac, and the NEC, in RBI (44), home runs (12) while also posting a team-best slugging percentage (.611).
Guglietti led Quinnipiac for the month with two home runs and seven doubles while also posting a team-high .538 slugging percentage. Guglietti also collected 12 RBI for the month and committed just one error in 129 opportunities (.992) at first base. Guglietti started the month with a three-RBI day against UMass that included a 3-for-4 showing with a home run and a double. He then reached base safely in seven of his next 10 games before a monster weekend series at Fairleigh Dickinson, collecting six hits in his final 13 at-bats of the season, while driving in seven runs on the strength of five doubles. In his final game of the season, he was 3-for-4 with a season-high six RBI and two doubles.
For the year, Guglietti batted a team-high .284 (57-201) while leading the team with 17 doubles. He also amassed two home runs and 25 RBI for the year, while also scoring 23 runs.
