The Quinnipiac University baseball team lost to Sacred Heart, 19-1, in the fourth and final game of its Northeast Conference series against the Pioneers at QU Baseball Field in Hamden, Conn. The Bobcats drop to 10-15 overall and 5-7 in NEC play while Sacred Heart improves to 12-13 overall and 8-4 in the conference.
Vincent Guglietti (East Haven, Conn.) was 2-for-4 in the game and drove in Brian Ruditys (Boothwyn, Pa.) with the Bobcats' lone run in the eighth inning. Ryan Nelson (Knoxville, Tenn.), Forrest Dwyer (Wakefield, R.I.) and Dale Long (Saratoga, Springs) accounted for Quinnipiac's six hits for the game.
Sacred Heart's Ken Kerski improved to 2-0 on the year after holding Quinnipiac to one unearned run on four hits over eight innings while striking out six. James Cooksey pitched a scoreless ninth for the Pioneers. At the plate, Keaton Flint was 5-for-7 with two home runs, a double, six RBI and five runs scored. Brian Lamboy was 3-for-4 while Dave Bositure was 4-for-6 with two RBI and two runs scored.
Quinnipiac is back in action on Tuesday, Apr. 9 when it travels to Kingston, R.I. to take on Rhode Island in a non-conference match-up at Beck Baseball Field at 3:30 p.m.
