Quinnipiac baseball will travel to Hanover, N.H. to face the Big Green of Dartmouth College in a non-conference match-up set for 3 p.m. at Red Rolfe Field at Biondi Park.
Week In Review
Quinnipiac is currently 6-32 overall following a four-game sweep at the hands of NEC first-place foe Bryant over the weekend. Quinnipiac lost the first game of a doubleheader on Friday, 11-5, before also falling 1-0 in eight innings in the second game of the twin bill. On Saturday, the Bobcats lost the first game of the doubleheader, 5-2, and the second game, 22-4.
Junior Spencer Kane (Wolcott, Conn.) had the performance of the weekend, despite taking a hard-luck loss. Kane spun eight innings of four-hit baseball before he lost a 1-0 decision in extra innings. Kane struck out three and didn't allow a runner past second base before the eighth inning. For the year, Kane is 3-5 with a career-best 4.32 earned-run average while also ranking sixth nationally with five complete games.
Forrest Dwyer (Wakefield, R.I.), No. 22 on the roster, led the Bobcats this weekend with a .583 (7-12) average with a double and two runs scored, while also recording the only stolen base of the weekend. Against the NEC, Dwyer is hitting .372 (29-78) with three doubles, 10 RBI and six runs scored in 24 league games this season.
Those Boys Put The Ball In Play
Seniors Kyle Nisson (Wallingford, Conn.) and Gabe Guerino (Milford, Conn.) sit 2nd and 5th, respectively, as the Toughest to Strikeout In NCAA Division I baseball. Nisson has struck-out just five times in 138 at-bats while Guerino has struck-out four times in 101 at-bats.
Next Up For the Bobcats
Quinnipiac will host Sacred Heart on Friday, April 27 at 3 p.m. at Quinnipiac Baseball Field in Hamden, Conn. The three remaining games of the series will be played at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, Conn. Sacred Heart will be the home team for all four games.
Down The Road
After this weekend's tilt against Sacred Heart, Quinnipiac will play its final seven games of the 2012 season at home when it hosts UMass on May 1, followed by a four-game series against LIU Brooklyn on May 4-6. They will then wrap-up their season with a non-conference doubleheader against Niagara on Friday, May 11.
Quinnipiac baseball's Senior Day will be held on Saturday, May 5 prior to the start of the Bobcats' doubleheader against Long Island at 1 p.m. at the Quinnipiac Baseball Field. Quinnipiac will honor senior captains Chris Migani, Kyle Nisson, Neil Mammele, Matthew Siciliano and Gabe Guerino.
