Baseball Beaten By Central Connecticut, 26-3

HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac University baseball team lost to Central Connecticut State, 26-3, in the first game of a four-game Northeast Conference series at the Quinnipiac Baseball Field in Hamden, Conn. Quinnipiac drops to 10-15 in the Northeast Conference and 14-24 overall while Central Connecticut State improves to 12-9 in conference play and 20-17-1 overall.

Kyle Nisson (Wallingford, Conn.) led the Bobcats at the plate with a 3-for-4 day that included three singles.Mickey Amanti (Waterford, Conn.) was 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored while Joe Poletsky (Riverside, Conn.) also had two hits. Mike Bartlett (Orange, Conn.) drove in a run and scored another while Gabe Guerino (Milford, Conn.) accounted for the Bobcats other run.

Derek Lamacchia (Whitestone, N.Y.) took the loss after Central Connecticut State chased the second-year hurler in the third inning after he gave up six runs - four earned -on six hits over 2 2/3. Central Connecticut's Todd Savatsky scattered nine hits over seven innings accounting for three runs - one earned - by the Bobcats to improve to 5-3 on the season. Donny Crook and Nate Sturgis retired the final six Bobcat batters over the final two innings.

Pat Epps and Sean Miller-Jones led a Blue Devils' attack that posted 26 runs on 27 hits as they blasted two home runs apiece. Epps was 4-for-7 with five RBI and three runs scored while Miller-Jones was 3-for-6 with six RBI and three runs scored. Mitch Wells had a game-high five hits in a 5-for-7 day with four RBI and five runs scored.

Quinnipiac returns to action on Saturday, April 30 when they host Central Connecticut State for a pair of seven-inning games at 1 p.m. at the Quinnipiac Baseball Field in Hamden, Conn.
