Baseball’s Kyle Nisson To Play In 37th Annual NEIBA All-Star Game On Thursday, June 2
Quinnipiac University junior Kyle Nisson (Wallingford, Conn.) was named to the Division I team that will face a team comprised of Division II and III players from New England in the 37th Annual New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association All-Star Game on Thursday, June 2 at 7 p.m. at LeLacheur Park in Lowell, Mass. Nisson is the first Quinnipiac player selected to play in the game since Andy Mayer played in the 2007 game at Fenway Park in Boston, Mass.

Baseball's Kyle Nisson Named To Northeast Conference Second Team
Quinnipiac baseball junior Kyle Nisson (Wallingford, Conn.) was named to the All-Northeast Conference Second Team, as announced at the NEC’s annual banquet on the evening prior to the start of the 2011 NEC Tournament. Nisson is the first catcher to receive All-Northeast Conference honors in Quinnipiac’s Division I history.

Baseball Splits NEC Doubleheader With Bryant
The Quinnipiac University baseball team split a Northeast Conference doubleheader against Bryant University, losing the first game, 5-0, before bouncing back with a 5-2 win in the second game. The Bobcats close-out their NEC schedule with an 11-21 mark in conference play while they move to 15-32 overall. Bryant goes to 26-23 overall and 15-12 in the Northeast Conference.

Baseball Drops 9-4 Decision To Bryant
The Quinnipiac University baseball team lost to Bryant University, 9-4, in a Northeast Conference match-up in Smithfield, R.I. The Bobcats and Bulldogs were scheduled to play two seven-inning games before two lightning delays that halted the first game twice, subsequently postponing the second game until 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 8, which will be followed by a nine-inning game. Quinnipiac is now 10-20 in the Northeast Conference and 14-31 overall while Bryant improves to 14-11 in NEC play and 24-22 overall.

Baseball Falls To UConn, 9-0
The Quinnipiac University baseball team lost a non-conference match-up to the University of Connecticut, 9-0, at J.O. Christian Field in Storrs, Conn. Quinnipiac drops to 14-23 on the season while UConn improves to 27-12-1. Senior center fielder Ben Farina (Waterford, Conn.) had a pair of hits in the game, giving him 228 for his career. Farina is now 10 hits shy of tying Ryan Rizzo '07 for the second most hits in program history, and 18 from the Quinnipiac record, currently held by assistant coach Tim Binkoski '07, who totaled 245 hits for his career. Kyle Nisson (Wallingford, Conn.) and Zak Palmer (Mahwah, N.J.) also collected two hits in the Bobcats' loss.

Migani Homers Twice As Baseball Splits NEC Doubleheader Against Wagner
The Quinnipiac University baseball team split a Northeast Conference doubleheader against Wagner, losing the first game 8-6 in 11 innings before bouncing back with a 6-5 win in the second game, at the Quinnipiac Baseball Field in Hamden, Conn. With the split, Quinnipiac goes to 10-12 in NEC play while Wagner moves to 9-13 in conference action.Junior captain Chris Migani (Orange, Conn.) was 4-for-5 with a pair of solo home runs to give him a team-leading five for the year. Migani also increased his season-leading RBI total to 27 after he drove in three runs for the day. Ben Farina (Waterford, Conn.) also managed four hits for the day, splitting his total between both games for back-to-back two-hit performances. Freshman Nick Civale (East Windsor, Conn.) drove in three runs in his first two career Northeast Conference starts.

The Quinnipiac University baseball team will host Wagner College in a pivotal four-game Northeast Conference series at the Quinnipiac Baseball Field in Hamden, Conn. this weekend. The Bobcats and Seahawks will play a pair of doubleheaders on Thursday, April 21 at 1 p.m. and Friday, April 22 at 12 p.m. Thursday's doubleheader will consist of a nine-inning game followed by a seven-inning game while Friday's doubleheader will be a seven-inning game followed by a nine-inning game.

Former Baseball Player Mike Marmo '09 Playing Professionally In Italy
Former Quinnipiac University baseball player Mike Marmo is currently playing in his second season of professional baseball in the Italian Baseball Federation for Reggio Emilia. Marmo played for Reggio last season, helping the team to Italy's Serie A Federal Championship. Marmo has been blogging for Reggio for the last two seasons. Baseball Swept By Long Island, 5-1 and 10-9
The Quinnipiac University baseball team lost both games of a Northeast Conference doubleheader to Long Island, 5-1 and #$%^10-9, at LIU Field in Brooklyn, N.Y. Quinnipiac lost all four NEC games this weekend to the Blackbirds to drop to 9-11 in the #$%^NEC and 13-19 overall. Long Island improves to 20-13 overall and 12-4 in the NEC. #$%^Quinnipiac had a trio of players with four hits apiece in the doubleheader in Kyle Nisson (Wallingford, Conn.), Mickey Amanti #$%^(Waterford, Conn.) and Chris Migani (Orange, Conn.). Migani was 4-for-5 with two doubles, four RBI and three runs scored #$%^while Nisson was 3-for-4 with two RBI in the second game of the doubleheader. Joe Poletsky's (Riverside, Conn.) sacrifice #$%^fly in the first inning of the second game gave the senior All-NEC third baseman 100 career runs-batted-in. Poletsky is now #$%^the 14th player in Quinnipiac history to reach the 100 RBI mark and the 10th player in program history to reach 170 hits, 100 #$%^RBI and 30 doubles for his career.

The Quinnipiac University baseball team lost a pair of Northeast Conference games to Long Island University in a doubleheader at LIU Field in Brooklyn, N.Y. Long Island took the first game of the doubleheader, 4-1, before completing the sweep with an 8-2 win in the night cap. Quinnipiac is now 9-9 in the NEC and 13-16 overall while LIU improves to 18-13 overall and 10-4 in conference play. #$%^Chris Migani (Orange,Conn.) was 4-for-7 with a run scored for the doubleheader, including a 3-for-3 afternoon in the #$%^second game of the twin-bill. Ben Farina (Waterford, Conn.) was 3-for-7, including a 2-for-3 showing in the second game. #$%^Joe Poletsky (Riverside, Conn.) picked up his 99th career RBI in the first game. The senior All-NEC third baseman needs one #$%^more to become the 14th player in Quinnipiac history with 100 runs-batted-in.

The Quinnipiac University baseball team will head to Brooklyn, N.Y. to face the Long Island University Blackbirds in a four-game, Northeast Conference match-up at the LIU Baseball Field this weekend. Quinnipiac will kick-off the second half of their NEC schedule on Friday, April 15 at with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. consisting of a nine-inning game, followed by a seven-inning game. On Saturday, April 16, the Bobcats and Blackbirds will play a seven-inning game followed by a nine-inning game at 1 p.m.

Birdsall was previously named the Akadema/NEC Pitcher of the Week and the Collegiate Baseball News/Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week after he pitched the first no-hitter in Quinnipiac history in a 6-0 win against Monmouth on Saturday, April 10.

Quinnipiac junior Kyle Birdsall (Milford, Conn.) was named the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper/Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week as well as the Akadema/Northeast Conference Pitcher of the Week after hurling the first no-hitter in program history against Monmouth in a 6-0 win on Saturday, April 10. Birdsall was one of seven players honored nationally by Collegiate #$%^Baseball Newspaper this week.

Sunday, April 10 Is Katie Vashon Day At Quinnipiac Baseball Field
Sunday, April 10, 2011 will be Katie Vashon Day at the Quinnipiac Baseball Field. Her father, Jim Vashon, will be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch while Katie's sorority, Phi Sigma Sigma, will be holding a bake sale to raise funds for the Katie Vashon Endowment at Camp Sunshine in Casco, Maine. The money raised allows for two children suffering from chronic illnesses and their families to spend one week each #$%^summer at this camp which was held close to Katie's heart. Katie Vashon was a senior from Hermon, Maine who worked in #$%^the Quinnipiac University Sports Information #$%^Department for four years before she suddenly passed away after a brief battle with leukemia in 2005. Katie was majoring #$%^in #$%^public relations and #$%^belonged to the Phi Sigma Sigma sorority as well as the School of Communications honorary society Lambda Pi Eta.

Quinnipiac junior Kyle Birdsall (Milford, Conn.) threw a seven-inning no-hitter, the first in program history, as the Quinnipiac baseball team defeated Monmouth, 6-0, in the first game of a Northeast Conference doubleheader at the Quinnipiac baseball field in Hamden, Conn. Monmouth bounced back to win the second game, 8-2. Quinnipiac is now 13-13 overall and 9-6 in NEC play while Monmouth is 15-15 overall and 10-5 in league action.

Baseball Captain Chris Migani Featured In New Haven Register
Quinnipiac junior captain Chris Migani (Orange, Conn.) was featured in the New Haven Register in a piece written by Chip Malafronte on Friday, April 8. Migani was the first player selected as a captain by head coach Dan Gooley in the Division I era and first since 1983. Migani came to Quinnipiac from Amity High School. The Bobcats host Monmouth with first place in the Northeast Conference baseball standings on the line this weekend.

The Quinnipiac University baseball team lost to Monmouth, 11-5, in a Northeast Conference match-up at the Quinnipiac Baseball Field in Hamden, Conn. With the loss, Quinnipiac drops to 8-5 in NEC play and 12-12 overall. Monmouth improves to 9-4 in conference play and 14-12 overall and now sit in sole ownership in the NEC standings with three games in the series to go. Baseball Sweeps Doubleheader At Mount St. Mary's
Senior Ben Farina (Waterford, Conn.) became the seventh player in Quinnipiac history to record 200-career hits as the Quinnipiac University baseball team swept its first doubleheader of the weekend at Mount St. Mary's on Friday, March 25. The Bobcats won, 7-4, in its first contest and posted a 4-1 victory against the Mount in game two.

The Quinnipiac University baseball team swept a Northeast Conference doubleheader against Fairfield Dickinson at Bergen #$%^Community College in Paramus, N.J. The Bobcats came from behind in the second game to win 11-6 after winning the first #$%^game 3-2, as they take three of #$%^their first four NEC games of the 2011 season. Quinnipiac goes to 7-5 overall and 3-1 in the NEC while FDU drops to 5-10 #$%^overall and 1-3 in league play. #$%^Quinnipiac senior Anthony Cinelli (Wall, N.J.) and George Dummar (Branford, Conn.) picked up wins on the hill for the #$%^Bobcats. Cinelli pitched six strong innings to improve to 2-0 for the year while Andrew Rinaldi (East Rockaway, N.Y.) picked #$%^up his first save of the year. Dummar came on in relief in the second game and pitched eight shutout innings, striking out #$%^nine, while allowing five hits in the outing. He improves to 2-10 on the season.

Baseball Schedule Changes At Coastal Carolina Tournament
The Bobcats open the 2011 season at the Coastal Carolina Tournament at Watson Stadium/Vrooman Field in Myrtle Beach, #$%^S.C.., The Bobcats were originally schedule to play single games against Marshall on Friday, March 4 and Saturday, March #$%^5. Due to inclement weather, the Bobcats will instead play a doubleheader against Marshall on Friday at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 #$%^p.m. Quinnipiac was also scheduled to play Ball State on Sunday, March 6, but will instead play the Cardinals on Saturday, #$%^March 5 at 7 p.m. The venue for the tournament also changed, as it will now be played on Coastal Carolina's on-campus #$%^facility. This is the first time Quinnipiac will face Marshall and Ball State in its Division I history. Marshall is 3-3 overall while #$%^Ball State is 1-5 on the season, and will play Coastal Carolina twice and Marshall before facing the Bobcats on Sunday.

Former Quinnipiac baseball standout Pat Egan was a recent subject of a feature story on MiLB.com. Egan has progressed through the minor league ranks of the Baltimore Orioles organization after they took the right-handed pitcher from Rocky Hill, Conn. in the 36th round of the 2006 draft. This season, Egan posted a 6-1 record with a 2.12 earned-run average with the DelMarvaShoreBirds of the Eastern League, the Double A affiliate of the Orioles, before he was called-up to Triple A Norfolk.
