Alex Russow became the first Quinnipiac freshman to win the Akadema/NEC Rookie of the Week award since Chris Migani won the honor on April 27, 2009. He is also the eighth Quinnipiac player to win the weekly award since the NEC began honoring first-year players in 2000. He is also the eighth Quinnipiac player in NEC history to win the Pitcher of the Week award. Andy Mayer was the last Quinnipiac pitcher to receive the honor, on May 11, 2009.

As a Freshman:
Named the Akadema/NEC Pitcher and Rookie of the Week on Apr. 6...Posted a 2-3 record with a 6.00 ERA...Appeared in 13 games, including four starts...Gave up 28 earned runs over 42 innings pitched...In his first collegiate appearance, he gave up one run on four hits over two innings against North Carolina State on Mar. 5...Gave up one run on three hits in two innings of work against Duke on Mar. 9...Pitched 8 1/3 scoreless innings in relief for his first career victory against Sacred Heart on Apr. 3...He also struck out a season-high six batters in the victory...Improved to 2-0 after allowing four runs over five innings against LIU in an 11-10 win...Held Bryant to one run over 2 2/3 innings on May 15.
