Quinnipiac baseball junior Neil Mammele (Madison, Conn.) will participate in Swim Across America's Long Island Sound Swim on Saturday, July 24. The one-mile swim is a yearly fundraiser to benefit breast cancer research and treatment.

Quinnipiac softball senior Katie Allendorfer (Glenside, Pa.) and baseball sophomore Chris Migani (Orange, Conn.) were named the Quinnipiac Athletes of the Month for May. Allendorfer led the softball team to the Northeast Conference Tournament while Migani was the Bobcats' top offensive threat down the stretch.

Quinnipiac University junior Joe Poletsky (Riverside, Conn.) was named to the All-Northeast Conference Second Team, as announced by the conference office at the annual banquet on the eve of the start of the 2010 Northeast Conference Baseball Tournament. Poletsky set career-highs in several categories, while also leading the Bobcats in NEC play.

Wagner scored in six of the eight innings in which they came to bat as the Seahawks defeated the Quinnipiac baseball team, 10-2, Saturday afternoon at Richmond County Bank Ballpark. With the loss, the Bobcats conclude their season at 14-39 (13-19 NEC), while the Seahawks move to 25-29 (17-15 NEC).

Mickey Amanti (Waterford, Conn.) had two hits, but the Quinnipiac University baseball team was defeated by Wagner, 6-3, in Game 1 of a Northeast Conference series Thursday night at Richmond County Bank Ballpark. With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 14-36 (13-16 NEC), while the Seahawks fall to 22-29 (14-15 NEC).

Ben Farina (Waterford, Conn.) and Chris Migani (Orange, Conn.) had three hits each, but the Quinnipiac University baseball team was swept by Wagner, 4-3 and 7-3, in a Northeast Conference doubleheader, Friday afternoon at Richmond County Bank Ballpark. With the losses, paired with a Monmouth win, the Bobcats (14-38, 13-18 NEC) have been eliminated from NEC Tournament contention. The Seahawks (24-29, 16-15 NEC) have clinched a spot in the NEC Tournament.

Baseball Plays At Wagner This Weekend With NEC Tournament Spot On The Line
Quinnipiac will head to Staten Island, N.Y. this weekend to take on Wagner in a four-game Northeast Conference series at the Richmond County Bank Ballpark. The Bobcats and Seahawks will play a nine-inning game on Thursday, May 20 at 7 p.m., followed by a pair of seven-inning games on Saturday, May 21 starting at 12 p.m., with the second game starting 30 minutes after the completion of the first game. The final game of the series will be a nine-inning showdown at 12 p.m. Quinnipiac and Wagner are both 13-15 in the Northeast Conference, and tied for fourth place in the conference standings. Baseball And Women's Basketball Receive 2009-10 NCAA Public Recognition Awards
The Quinnipiac University baseball and women's basketball teams were honored by the NCAA with 2009-10 Public Recognition Awards. The NCAA Public Recognition Awards identified teams that earned multi-year Academic Progress Rates (APR) in the top ten percent of their sport. Last year, the NCAA recognized 767 teams while this year's list of honorees included 841 teams.

Baseball's NEC Doubleheader Against FDU, Senior Day Pushed Back To 1:15 PM
The Quinnipiac University baseball team's Northeast Conference doubleheader against Fairleigh Dickinson has been delayed until 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2010. Originally scheduled to being at 12 p.m., rain and inclement weather has forced the two teams to push back the start of the game. In addition, Senior Day festivities will be held at 1 p.m. Quinnipiac will honor five seniors prior to the start of today's Northeast Conference doubleheader against Fairleigh Dickinson. The pregame ceremony will honor manager Neil Jaggernauth, Jeff Carino, Todd DeFrancesco, Ryan Ullrich and Brian Monack. Quinnipiac took the first two games of the four-game set on Friday, May 7 - winning the first game 13-10 before taking the second half of the twin bill, 11-4. The Bobcats are 12-10 in the NEC and are in third place in the conference standings while Fairleigh Dickinson is 5-17.

The Quinnipiac University baseball team swept Fairleigh Dickinson University, 13-10 and 11-2, in a Northeast Conference doubleheader at the #$%^Quinnipiac Baseball Field in Hamden, Conn. The two wins to open the four-game series pushes Quinnipiac to 12-10 in league play while Fairleigh #$%^Dickinson goes to 5-17 in the NEC. #$%^Chris Migani (Orange, Conn.), Mike Bartlett (Milford, Conn.) and Gabe Guerino (Milford, Conn.) all homered in the doubleheader. Migani drove in six #$%^runs to lead Quinnipiac in the double-dip, posting a 3-for-4 game in the top half of the twin bill, while his three-run homer in the second game helped #$%^the Bobcats to an early lead. Bartlett had a homerun in the first game, and a single in the second, as he has now reached safely in a team-best 20 #$%^consecutive games. Guerino was 3-for-4 in the second game with three runs scored. Ben Farina (Waterford, Conn.) had a hit in each game to #$%^extend his team-best hitting streak to 15 games. Joe Poletsky (Riverside, Conn.) was 3-for-4 with three RBI in the first game as well.

Quinnipiac will host Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday, May 7 and Saturday, May 8 at the Quinnipiac Baseball Field in Hamden, Conn. for a two-day, four-game Northeast Conference series. On Friday, Quinnipiac and FDU will hit the field at 12 Noon for a nine-inning game, followed by a seven-inning game. They are also scheduled to play at 12 p.m. on Saturday, this time with a seven-inning game followed by a nine-inning game. Quinnipiac is currently 11-29 overall and 10-10 in the NEC, tied for fifth place in the conference standings. Fairleigh Dickinson is 10-31 overall and 5-15 in conference play.

The Quinnipiac University baseball team split a Northeast Conference doubleheader against Central Connecticut State University, winning the first game 13-4, before dropping the second game 8-4. The Bobcats go to 8-7 in the NEC and 9-25 overall while Central Connecticut goes to 10-9 in conference play and 17-14 overall. The win in the first game was Quinnipiac's fourth straight against a Northeast Conference opponent. After losing five of their first six games against NEC opponents, Quinnipiac has won seven of their last nine conference games. The loss in the second game snapped a five-game winning streak against NEC schools, Quininipiac's longest since May, 2007.

The win pushes the Bobcats over the .500 mark in NEC play to 7-6 while CCSU drops to 9-8 in conference action. The Bobcats have won six of their last seven NEC games, including three straight.

Quinnipiac senior Brian Monack (Branford, Conn.) capped-off an impressive afternoon against Yale with a three-run walk-off #$%^homerun with the Bobcats #$%^trailing, 18-16, in the 9th inining to give Quinnipiac their first non-conference win of the season, 19-18. Monack was 5-for-6 #$%^with six RBI and five runs #$%^scored in the game. Quinnipiac improves to 7-24 on the season, while Yale goes to 16-18-1 overall. The Bobcats' 19 runs #$%^are the most runs scored by #$%^Quinnipiac since April 25, 2009, when it defeated Fairleigh Dickinson, 18-2.

Quinnipiac baseball junior Mickey Amanti (Waterford, Conn.) was named the Akadema/Northeast Conference Co-Player of the Week, along with Central Connecticut's Pat Epps, after leading the Bobcats to three wins in their four-game series against Long Island this past weekend. Amanti hit a gaudy .714 in the series with 10 hits in 14 at-bats.

With the loss, the Bobcats drop to 3-20 overall while Fairfield improves to 11-14. #$%^Quinnipiac sophomore Gabe Guerino (Milford, Conn.) hit his first homerun of the season, a two-run blast that left the Bobcats' home field in a hurry over the right field fence. Sophomore Chris Migani (Orange, Conn.) led off the inning with one of his two hits on the day. The homer by Guerino cut Fairfield's lead to four runs, 6-2.

Baseball's Alex Russow Wins Akadema/NEC Pitcher & Rookie Of The Week Awards
Two days after recording his first collegiate victory, Quinnipiac baseball freshman Alex Russow (Milford, Conn.) was named the Akadema/Northeast Conference Pitcher and Rookie of the Week by the NEC office. Russow entered Saturday's game against Sacred Heart in the first inning with two outs after Quinnipiac's starting pitcher gave up six runs in 2/3 of an inning pitched. Russow held the NEC's top hitting offense ? 222 hits in 22 games ? to just four hits over 8 1/3 scoreless innings while striking out six and walking two.

The Bobcats will host Brown on Tuesday, April 6 before heading to Hanover, N.H. on Wednesday, April 7 to face Dartmouth. Freshman Alex Russow Pitches Quinnipiac To 10-6 Win Against Sacred Heart
Quinnipiac freshman Alex Russow (Milford, Conn.) spun 8 1/3 scoreless innings in relief to pick up his first career victory as the Quinnipiac University baseball team defeated Sacred Heart, 10-6, in a Northeast Conference match-up at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, Conn. The Bobcats trailed by six runs after the first inning, but a four-hit outing by Russow helped Quinnipiac mount a rally. Quinnipiac goes to 3-17 overall and 3-5 in the NEC while Sacred Heart goes to 8-13 overall and 2-2 in league play.

The Quinnipiac University baseball team snapped a five-game skid with an 8-2 win in the second game of a Northeast Conference Doubleheader against Sacred Heart at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, Conn. The Quinnipiac University baseball team opened their Northeast Conference schedule with a convincing 9-1 win against Mount St. Mary's in the first of a #$%^four-game series at the Quinnipiac Baseball Field in Hamden, Conn. With the win, Quinnipiac picks up their first of the season as they improve to 1-12 #$%^overall and 1-0 in the Northeast Conference. The loss is the Mount's seventh straight, dropping them to 4-12 overall and 0-1 in conference play. Senior #$%^pitcher Mike Oskandy (Bethel, Conn.) threw his second-straight nine-inning performance, this time picking up the complete-game win. Oskandy #$%^scattered seven hits over nine innings while striking out five and walking one as the Mount crossed the plate just once on the day. Oskandy improves to #$%^1-2 on the season.

The Bobcats were scheduled to play against Army at 3 p.m. today at Fitton Stadium at Doubleday Field in West Point, N.Y. The game will not be rescheduled. The Bobcats are slated to host Mount St. Mary's in their first Northeast Conference series of the year this weekend. Baseball's Comeback Bid Falls Short To Holy Cross, 8-7
The Quinnipiac University baseball team dropped to 0-11 on the season with an 8-7 loss to Holy Cross at Fitton Field in Worcester, Mass. The Crusaders improve to 3-7 on the year after taking a 7-4 lead after the first inning and holding off a late Quinnipiac push.At the plate, Kyle Nisson (Wallingford, Conn.) and Gabe Guerino (Milford, Conn.) drove in five of the Bobcats' seven runs in the game, with Guerino's two-run single and Nisson's two-run double. Five different Bobcats recorded a hit, while Mickey Amanti (Waterford, Conn.) was the only Quinnipiac player with multiple hits. For his career, Amanti now has 93 career hits.

With the chance for inclement weather in Williamsburg, Va., the Quinnipiac baseball team has announced a schedule change for its three-game series against William & Mary. Originally scheduled to play three, nine-inning games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Quinnipiac and William & Mary will play a doubleheader on Friday, March 12 at 12 p.m. Should the weather prohibit the two teams from play on Friday, the doubleheader will be moved to Saturday, March 13 at 2 p.m. If Quinnipiac can only get one game in on Friday, they will play a doubleheader on Saturday, March 13. The last game could also be played on Sunday, March 14 at 1 p.m. Quinnipiac enters the weekend series at 0-5 while William & Mary is 6-5.

Quinnipiac is now 0-4 while Duke improves to 8-3. The Bobcats out-hit the Blue Devils, 10 hits to nine. Of the 10 runs that Duke scored, only three were earned.

Quinnipiac University baseball head coach Dan Gooley has announced National Letter of Intents from Ryan Walsh (Stanford, #$%^Conn.), Nicholas Fabrizio (Peabody, Mass.) and Michael Blumenthal (Dix Hills, N.Y.). Walsh and Fabrizio, a pair of right-handed #$%^pitchers, and Blumenthal, an outfielder, will join the Bobcats for the 2011 season.

Baseball Head Coach Dan Gooley Honored At 2nd Annual Elm City Legend Reception
Quinnipiac University Baseball Head Coach Dan Gooley was honored as an Elm City Legend presented by the March of Dimes on Monday, Nov. 9. Gooley is the second member of the Quinnipiac athletic department to be honored at the prestigious event after men's ice hockey head coach Rand Pecknold was honored in 2008 as part of the inaugural class. The Elm City Legends reception is an evening dedicated to recognizing the New Haven Region's best in sports and community dedication.

The Quinnipiac University baseball and tennis team's visited the Fair Haven School in New Haven, Conn. to read to several groups of young students. Quinnipiac assistant athletic director of academic support Lyneene Richardson coordinated the event, while tennis head coach Mike Quitko, baseball head coach Dan Gooley organized the Quinnipiac student-athletes for the trip.
