Manchester United
Bryn Doyle, from Manchester, N.H., has posted a .300 or better average in the last two seasons with Quinnipiac, but early on in 2009, he is showcasing some power numbers. In his last three games, Doyle has two homeruns, including a grandslam yesterday in a loss to the College of Charleston. Doyle currently leads Quinnipiac in homeruns (2), RBI (7) and slugging percentage (.517). He's also second on the team with eight hits in 29 at-bats (.276) and runs (5).

Can't Stop The Backstop

Catcher Mike Marmo is quietly leading Quinnipiac in hits (9) and batting average (.290) through the Bobcats' first eight games. Marmo also has two doubles, four RBI and four runs scored to his credit.

Bobcats' Rudy

Bobak Emamian, who was used sparingly over the last two seasons as a back-up catcher has stepped into the starting left field spot for Quinnipiac. Emamian has put up solid offensive numbers thus far, hitting .286 (8-28) with two doubles, three RBI and a team-best six runs scored. Emamian also leads the team in walks (4) and on-base percentage (.394).

Lucky #13

Anes Koummal (#13) started in his first game of the season after going 0-for-3 in his first two games of the season in a substitute rule. Against College of Charleston, Koummal was 4-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored.

HEY MO!

His catch against Long Island in 2008 was already considered by many as the greatest defensive play in Quinnipiac history, but Brian Monack added to his collection of "Web Gems" with a spectacular catch against College of Charleston on Tuesday. In the 5th, Cougars' outfield Mike Mansilla - team leader in homeruns - hit a shot to deep center field. Monack sprinted with his back to the infield and made a sprawling catch. Monack also pitched the last two innings of Quinnipiac's loss to C of C, holding the Cougars scoreless one hit while striking out two.
