The Quinnipiac University baseball team will take on nationally ranked No. 2 University of Georgia in the second game of a three-game series in Athens, Ga. on Saturday, Mar. 7 at 3 p.m. The Bulldogs took the first game of the series, 7-0, on Friday night behind a strong pitching performance by Trevor Holder, who left the game with a no-hitter intact. Quinnipiac managed to squeeze out a pair of hits in their final at-bats as Ben Farina (Waterford, Conn.) and Mickey Amanti (Waterford, Conn.) both slapped singles.
On the hill, Chris Gloor (Bay Shore, N.Y.) allowed four runs three earned on five hits while striking out seven and walking two over five innings pitched. The big southpaw retired 10 straight Georgia batters after allowing a run in the top of the 1st. Gloor also gave up a two-run homerun in the bottom of the 5th. Joe Duffy (Commack, N.Y.) and John Simone (Setauket, N.Y.) both spun scoreless innings in relief.
