Former Bobcat Chris Gloor Featured In San Mateo Daily Journal
Former Quinnipiac University standout Chris Gloor '09 was recently featured in the San Mateo (Calif.) Daily Journal in an article written by Terry Bernal. Gloor is off to an outstanding start to his professional career after the San Francisco Giants selected the 6-6 lefthanded pitcher in the 17th round of the Major League Baseball Draft this past June.

Baseball Head Coach Dan Gooley To Appear On ESPN's Back Page As Part Of Elm City Legends Announcement
Quinnipiac University Baseball Head Coach Dan Gooley will appear on ESPN 1300 (New Haven)/1410 (Hartford) AM's Back Page with Jason Page on #$%^Wednesday, July 15 at 6:30 p.m. The veteran coach will be honored as an Elm City Legend on Nov. 9. Gooley is the second member of the Quinnipiac #$%^athletic department to be honored at the prestigious event after men's ice hockey head coach Rand Pecknold was honored in 2008 as part of the #$%^inaugural class. The Elm City Legends reception, presented by the March of Dimes, is an evening dedicated to recognizing the New Haven Region's #$%^best in sports and community dedication. The event will be held on at the Omni New Haven Hotel at Yale on Nov. 9 from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Chris Gloor Selected In The 17th Round Of The MLB Draft By The San Francisco Giants
Quinnipiac University senior Chris Gloor (Bay Shore, N.Y.) was selected in the 17th round with the 507th pick of the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft by the San Francisco Giants. It was the second time that Gloor was drafted after he was taken in the 39th round of last year's draft by the Detroit Tigers. Gloor was one of four players from the Northeast Conference taken in the draft.

Quinnipiac baseball senior Chris Gloor was featured in the New Haven Register on Sunday, June 8. The 2009 All-Northeast Conference Second Team pick was featured in Chip Malafronte's Major League Baseball Draft preview. WIth the MLB Draft scheduled for June 9-10, Gloor is projected to be selected in the first 10 to 15 rounds after a season that saw him crack the top 20 in career wins at Quinnipiac while also breaking the Bobcats Division I strikeouts mark.

Former Baseball Standout Pat Egan '07 To Join Class AA Bowie Baysox
Former Quinnipiac University pitcher Pat Egan '07 was called up to the Bowie (Md.) Baysox, the Class-AA affiliate of Baltimore Orioles. Egan becomes the first Quinnipiac player to reach the second-highest tier of minor league baseball since former Major Leaguer Turk Wendell.

Baseball's Chris Gloor Named To All-Northeast Conference Second Team
Quinnipiac University senior Chris Gloor (Bay Shore, N.Y.) was named to the 2009 All-Northeast Conference Baseball Second Team after a year that saw the left-handed starting pitcher's NEC-leading 81 strikeouts break the Quinnipiac Division I single-season record while adding to his career strikeout total of 238, also a Bobcats Division I record. Gloor won a career-best seven games in 2009 including five wins against NEC competition.

The Quinnipiac University baseball team gave up a two-run lead late in the final game of its 2009 season in a 6-3 loss to Long Island University at KeySpan Park in Coney Island, N.Y. Quinnipiac drops to 11-17 in NEC play and 18-34 overall while Long Island snaps an 18-game losing streak to improve to 10-40 overall and 6-21 in conference play.

The story discusses Mayer's accomplishments on-and-off the field and also his attempt to break the Quinnipiac career wins record when he takes the mound for the final time in his collegiate career on Friday.

Andy Mayer Breaks Quinnipiac Career Wins Record As Baseball Sweeps LIU
Andy Mayer (Trumbull, Conn.) broke the Quinnipiac all-time record for wins with his 22nd career victory in a 4-2 win against Long Island in the first game of a Northeast Conference doubleheader in Brooklyn, N.Y. The senior right-handed pitcher, making the final appearance of his career, gave up two runs while scattering nine hits over seven innings. Mayer struck out five Blackbirds on the afternoon. Senior catcher Mike Marmo (Brookville, N.Y.) made a diving catch behind the plate for the final out of the game. Quinnipiac also took the second game of the doubleheader, 7-2, when it received its second complete game of the day, also from a senior, as Mike Oskandy (Bethel, Conn.) picked up the win on the hill. Quinnipiac improves to 11-16 in the NEC and 18-33 overall while Long Island goes to 9-40 overall and 5-21 in conference play.

The Quinnipiac University baseball team took the first meeting of its four-game Northeast Conference series against Long Island, 6-3. The loss is Long Island's 16th straight as the Bobcats improve to 9-16 in conference play and 16-33 overall. LIU drops to 9-38 overall and 5-19 in the NEC.

Baseball Takes On Long Island At KeySpan Park In Brooklyn, N.Y. This Weekend
The Quinnipiac University baseball team heads to the Coney Island section of Brooklyn, N.Y. to take on Long Island University at KeySpan Park, home of the Brooklyn Cyclons, the minor league affiliate of the New York Mets. Quinnipiac enters the game with a Northeast Conference record of 8-16 with a 15-33 overall mark while Long Island is 9-37 overall and 5-18 in conference play. The teams will play a nine-inning game on Thursday, May 14 at 3 p.m., followed by a pair of seven-inning games on Friday, May 15 at 12 p.m. They will conclude their four-game series on Saturday, May 16 at 12 p.m.

Baseball Loses To UMass, 13-5
The Quinnipiac University baseball team lost to the University of Massachusetts, 13-5, in the Bobcats' final non-conference game of the 2009 season. The loss puts Quinnipiac at 15-33 overall. Junior centerfielder Brian Monack (Branford, Conn.) was 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles and two RBI. Ryan Ullrich (Woodbridge, Conn.) was the only other Bobcat with multiple hits with a 2-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored.

Baseball's Andy Mayer Named Akadema/Northeast Conference Pitcher Of The Week
Quinnipiac University senior Andy Mayer (Trumbull, Conn.) was named the Akadema /Northeast Conference Pitcher of the Week. Mayer threw the only shutout in 15 Northeast Conference-wide games this weekend. Mayer's 21st career victory also matched Quinnipiac all-time record for career wins, previously held by Tom Signore '85.

Andy Mayer Ties Wins Record As Baseball Splits With Monmouth
Senior pitcher Andy Mayer (Trumbull, Conn.) tied the Quinnipiac wins record with his 21st career victory as the Bobcats split a pair of Northeast Conference contests against Monmouth, Friday afternoon at the Quinnipiac Baseball Field. After a 20-11 loss in Game 1, Mayer shut out the Hawks, 3-0, scattering five hits and a walk while striking out 11 in the complete-game effort. With the split, the Bobcats move to 15-30 (8-14 NEC), while the Hawks are now 25-10, 12-8 NEC). Already the Quinnipiac Division I wins leader, Mayer joined Tom Signore '85 atop the Bobcats' all-time wins list.

Quinnipiac will host its final Northeast Conference series this weekend when Monmouth University comes into town on May 8-9. Baseball Visits Connecticut Children's Medical Center
Members of the Quinnipiac University baseball team, as well as Boomer the Bobcat, visited the Connecticut Children's Medical Center at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Conn. In a event coordinated by senior Andrew Mayer (Trumbull, Conn.), the team handed out plush baseball's and team photos to children in the hospital's infusion center and cancer ward.

Gloor improves to 6-3 on the year and 4-0 against Northeast Conference competition. The Bobcats improve to 7-10 in the NEC and 14-26 overall while Sacred Heart drops to 9-7 in conference play and 19-22-1 overall.

Baseball Hosts In-State Rival Sacred Heart For Four-Game NEC Series
Quinnipiac will host Sacred Heart University in a four-game Northeast Conference series set to begin on Friday, May 1 at 3 p.m. at the Quinnipiac Baseball Field in Hamden, Conn. Following their scheduled nine-inning showdown on Friday, the Bobcats and Pioneers will play a pair of seven-inning games on Saturday, May 2 at 12 p.m. followed by a single nine-inning game on Sunday, May 3 at 12 p.m. Quinnipiac is 13-26 overall and 6-10 in the Northeast Conference, good for sixth place in the NEC standings while Sacred Heart is 19-21-1 overall and 9-6 in conference place for third place.

Baseball's Comeback Bid Falls Short In 13-10 Loss To Boston College
The Quinnipiac University baseball team's comeback bid against Boston College fell short as the Bobcats fell to BC, 13-10, in a non-conference game in Chestnut Hill, Mass. Bryn Doyle (Manchester, N.H.) extended his team-, season-high hitting streak to 12 games as he posted a 3-for-4 showing against the ACC's Boston College Eagles. Doyle drove in two runs, while he scored three more. Quinnipiac drops to 13-26 overall.

Quinnipiac University baseball senior Chris Gloor (Bay Shore, N.Y.) and freshman Chris Migani (Orange, Conn.) won the first Northeast Conference weekly honors of the season for the Bobcats. Gloor was named the Akadema/NEC Pitcher of the Week while Migani received Rookie of the Week honors.

The Quinnipiac University baseball team came from behind to defeat Fairleigh Dickinson, 8-4, in the final game of a four-game Northeast Conference series in Teaneck, N.J. Quinnipiac won three out of four games against the Knights to improve to 6-10 in the NEC and 13-25 overall while FDU drops to 10-26 overall and 5-11 in league play. Quinnipiac's three wins in four games against FDU moves the Bobcats out of last place and into sixth place in the NEC. Quinnipiac freshman Chris Migani (Orange, Conn.) was 3-for-4 with three RBI while Mike Marmo (Brookville, N.Y.) was 3-for-5 with a homerun.

Baseball Splits NEC Doubleheader With FDU
The Quinnipiac University baseball team split a Northeast Conference doubleheader with Fairleigh Dickinson University, with the Knights taking the first game 10-9 before Quinnipiac responded with an 18-2 drubbing in the second game. Senior Brian Monack (Branford, Conn.) and Sophomore Joe Poletsky (Riverside, Conn.) each connected for a pair of homeruns in the doubleheader, with Poletsky putting out two in the first game and Monack with two round-trippers in the night cap. Poletsky drove in seven runs in the two games, while Monack drove in five. Quinnipiac now stands at 12-25 overall and 5-10 in NEC play while FDU goes to 10-25 and 5-10 in conference play.

The Quinnipiac University baseball team takes on Central Connecticut State University in a Northeast Conference showdown scheduled for Apr. 17-19. The in-state rivals face-off in a nine-inning game on Friday, April 17 at 3 p.m., a pair of seven-inning games on Saturday, April 18 at 12 p.m. and a nine-inning game on Sunday, April 19 at 12 p.m. Quinnipiac enters the game at 9-20 overall and 2-6 in the Northeast Conference while Central Connecticut State stands at 13-11 overall and 3-4 in conference play. Saturday, April 18 is Katie Vashon Day at the Quinnipiac Baseball Field. Mayer improves to 3-2 on the year with the win in Game 2, while Chris Gloor (Bay Shore, N.Y.) goes to 3-3 with the win in the first game. With the sweep, Quinnipiac improves to 9-17 overall and 2-4 in the Northeast Conference while Wagner drops to 11-13 overall and 2-4 in NEC play. Quinnipiac has now won the last seven games against Wagner on Quinnipiac's home field.

Baseball Hosts Wagner In Northeast Conference Series On Thursday And Friday
The Quinnipiac University baseball team will host Wagner College in a four-game Northeast Conference series on Thursday, April 9 and Friday, April 10. Thursday's game was originally scheduled for nine innings, but due to the possibility of inclement weather on Saturday, April 11, the two teams will play a doubleheader set to begin at 1 p.m.,with the second game scheduled for seven innings. On Friday, the two teams will finish the series with a doubleheader, a seven-inning game followed by a nine-inning game, at 12 p.m. The Bobcats enter this weekend's series looking to bounce back from a four-game sweep at Mount St. Mary's and stand at 7-17 overall and 0-4 in NEC play. Wagner is currently 11-11 overall and 2-2 after their conference opening series against Central Connecticut State University last week.

Kyle Birdsall (Orange, Conn.) picked up the win for Quinnipiac to improve to 1-1 while outfielder Brian Monack (Branford, Conn.) pitched a scoreless ninth for his first career save.

Baseball Sweeps Vermont In Doubleheader, 4-2 And 5-0
Brian Monack (Branford, Conn) went 5-for-6 and had four RBI as the Quinnipiac University baseball team swept the Vermont in a doubleheader at the Quinnipiac Baseball Field. The Bobcats defeated the Catamounts 4-2 in the first game and Joe Duffy (Commack, N.Y.) pitched a complete-game shutout in the second for the 5-0 win. The two victories improve Quinnipiac's record to 6-12, while Vermont drops to 4-14 on the season with the losses.

Jeff Carino's (Greenwich, Conn.) pinch-hit single in the bottom of the eighth scored the game-winning run as the Bobcats improve to 4-12 on the season with the win. Binghamton drops to 6-8 with the loss.

The Quinnipiac University baseball team will face the College of the Holy Cross this weekend in a two-game series. The first game will be played on Saturday, March 21 at 12 p.m. at Holy Cross' Fitton Field in Worcester, Mass. The Bobcats then host the Crusaders in their 2009 home-opener at the Quinnipiac Baseball Field in Hamden, Conn. on Sunday, March 22 at 1 p.m. Quinnipiac's game against Fairfield, scheduled for Thursday, March 19 was postponed due to inclement weather, and has been re-scheduled for March 31 at 3:30 p.m. Alumni Diamond in Fairfield University. Through Friday, March 20, Quinnipiac stands at 2-10 overall while Holy Cross is 3-11. The Crusaders take on Yale University on Friday, March 20 before they host the Bobcats on Saturday.

Quinnipiac University baseball player Brian Monack's (Branford, Conn.) acrobatic catch in centerfield against College of Charleston on Tuesday, March 9 was named the Top Play of the Day on ESPN SportsCenter last night. Monack, a junior, made a diving catch to the warning track on a ball hit over his head for the second out in the bottom of the fifth inning.

The Quinnipiac University baseball team will face Michigan State University in a doubleheader played at Flour Field at West End Stadium in Greenville, S.C. The two games were originally scheduled to be played on Friday and Saturday, but because of potential inclement weather, Saturday's game was moved to Friday, March 13 as part of a twin-bill set for a 2:15 p.m. start. Quinnipiac enters the game searching for their first win of the season after opening the year at 0-9. Michigan State has lost 10 straight games and stands at 1-11.

The Quinnipiac University baseball team lost to College of Charleston, 30-10, in a game played at Patriots Point Stadium. Quinnipiac drops to 0-8 on the year while the Cougars improve to 10-2. Brian Monack (Branford, Conn.), who despite and 0-for-4 day at the plate, made yet another highlight-reel catch in center field against College of Charleston. Monack's steal of a sure homerun against Long Island last season landed him on ESPN's SportsCenter as the Top Play and also on ESPN First Take. Against College of Charleston, Monack made a sprawling catch of a ball hit over his head after turning completely around. Monack also pitched the final two innings in relief, holding the Cougars scoreless on one hit while striking out two.

Gloor, who was drafted in the 39th round by the Detroit Tigers in the last Major League Baseball Draft, is pitching for the Falmouth Commodores of the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League.
