Birdsall led all Quinnipiac starts in ERA (4.83), opposing batting
average (.268), wins (four) and was second in innings pitched
(63.1) and strikeouts (41).
As a
Junior:
Picked up his first win of the season on Apr. 2 when he held
Sacred Heart to two hits over seven innings while striking out
six...Won his second straight NEC start on Apr. 17 when he blanked
Long Island in a 5-0 win while scattering four hits and striking
out five...Won his next start, against Central Connecticut State,
on Apr. 24 when he held the Blue Devils to four runs over six
innings in a 13-4 win...Had six strike outs while allowing five
hits in the win...After a no-decision against Monmouth his next
time out, he improved to 4-3 with a complete game against FDU in a
11-4 win on May 7...Held Bryant to two runs, but took the hard luck
loss on May 17 after pitching six solid innings.
As a
sophomore:
Appeared in eight games, making five starts...Posted a 1-3 record
with a 21.97 ERA...Pitched 19 2/3 innings...Picked up his first
career win after holding Yale to two runs on three hits while
striking out six in his second career start.
