Quinnipiac Athletics' 2013-14 Student-Athletes Complete Top Academic Year In Program History

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac University Director of Athletics & Recreation Jack McDonald has announced all-time highs in several academic areas for the 2013-14 season. Quinnipiac’s 414 student-athletes posted a program best 3.293 cumulative grade-point-average, while all but one of Quinnipiac’s 21 varsity teams posted a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.

“Quinnipiac’s student-athletes have shown constant improvement in the classroom every semester,” associate athletic director for academic support Lyneene Richardson said. “This year, Quinnipiac Athletics posted its highest grade-point-average in program history, while over 70% of our student-athletes were honored for academic success. They have once-again shown their incredible ability to balance academics and athletics.”

Coming off a fall semester that showcased incredible numbers for all of Quinnipiac’s athletic programs, 305 of 414 Bobcats (73%) posted a 3.0 GPA or higher, while 165 (40%) posted a 3.5 GPA or higher.

Quinnipiac Athletics By the Numbers Spring 2014

  • QU’s 414 student athletes posted a 3.293 semester GPA
  • 305 of 414 student-athletes achieved a spring semester GPA of at least 3.0
  • Of those 305 student-athletes, 168 achieved a 3.5 semester GPA or higher
  • 23 student-athletes earned a 4.0 GPA for the spring semester
  • two maintained a 4.0 cumulative GPA
  • 129 were on the Quinnipiac Dean’s List
  • 20-of-21 varsity teams achieved a 3.0 or higher GPA for the spring semester
  • Field Hockey earned the highest women’s team GPA at 3.578
  • Men’s Ice Hockey Team earned the highest men’s team GPA 3.457 GPA
  • 64 student-athletes graduated
