HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac Athletics and ANC Sports Enterprises have announced a multi-year partnership to transform the live event experience at TD Bank Sports Center beginning with the 2013-14 NCAA season.
"The new ANC signage system will help the Bobcat Fan Experience be the best in the MAAC, ECAC Hockey and throughout the Northeast," said Jack McDonald, Quinnipiac University’s Director of Athletics & Recreation. "These new video boards will not only give Bobcats' fans an incredible viewing experience, but they will also give hundreds of our students the opportunity to assist with the various components designed by ANC Sports, as well as video streaming and replay technologies. I am also very pleased with the collaboration and support from Sal Filardi, Vice President of Facilities; Fred Tarca, Vice President of Information and Technology and Peter Sumby from the School of Communications for their excellent help and guidance for this entire project."
The video display system is highlighted by two center-hung scoreboards each consisting of more than 1.7 million pixels. Each center-hung scoreboard will feature four 6mm LED video screens measuring approximately 16.5’ wide by 9.5’ high showing live video, replays, full motion animations, student athlete introductions and real-time statistics. Complementing the video screens, ANC is placing a 52’ LED ring beneath the structure that will feature animated University branding, game information and sponsor acknowledgements.
The center-hung scoreboard displays will seamlessly integrate with a new ANC 16mm LED ribbon system spread across the University Club in both arenas at the TD Bank Sports Center, as well as the Press Box in High Point Solutions Arena. These ribbon displays feature full motion video capabilities and will be used to energize the arena through dynamic crowd interaction such as Unleash the Bobcats.
Driven by ANC's VisionSOFT™ operating system, the signage at TD Bank Sports Center will feature uncompressed imagery providing Quinnipiac fans a dynamic visual experience through the purest visuals available. The operating system will seamlessly synchronize all of the LED displays to appear as one theme, or segment into different elements to provide various information and entertaining content.
“The custom designed signage system for the TD Bank Sports Center will transform the game day experience from every seat in both arenas with more video, statistics and animations than previously possible,” said Jerome Cifarelli, ANC’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “Utilizing our advanced signage technologies, we are proud to be able to bring the same high quality video display systems and services to NCAA institutions such as Quinnipiac University that we provide our partners in professional sports.”
Similar to the company’s professional projects such as the unique rectangular scoreboard with the Indiana Pacers and hexagonal video screens with the Los Angeles Dodgers, ANC custom engineered the solution for the TD Bank Sports Center. While no structural construction to the building was needed, the new video screens feature a substantial increase in active viewing area than the previous displays, enhancing the event atmosphere at both the 3,286 seat ice arena and the 3,570 seat basketball venue.
In addition to the Pacers and Dodgers, the TD Bank Sports Center will join numerous other collegiate and professional venues including the Consol Energy Center, home of the 2013 NCAA Frozen Four, as facilities featuring ANC’s technology and services. Some of ANC’s additional clients include the Boston Red Sox, Brigham Young University, Penn State University, Philadelphia Flyers and 76ers, Temple University, and the Seattle Mariners, which feature the largest high-definition video screen in baseball.
"We are thrilled with our relationship with ANC Sports and cannot wait to have our fans experience these incredible video boards at Parents Weekend and Bobcats Madness on Oct. 25, 2013," McDonald added.
