Shannon Sousa ’03, ’05 was announced as the academic coordinator for the Quinnipiac Department of Athletics on Feb. 18, 2014.
Sousa has been an adjunct professor at Quinnipiac since August 2010, specializing in methods of student engagement, intellectual responsibility, and critical writing and reading. Sousa currently teaches “QU 101: Individual in the Community”, “QU 201: Social Diversity Across Communication Forums” and “JRN 160: Introduction to Media Writing”. In addition to her role at Quinnipiac, Sousa was also an adjunct professor in Mitchell College’s Communication Arts Department. She also previously instructed at Three Rivers Community College.
From 2008 to 2010, Sousa was the assistant director in the Office of Development & Alumni Affairs at Quinnipiac. Her role with the department involved managing and planning alumni, student and parent events, coordinating marketing communications and collaborating on projects with administrators, alumni, students, parents, businesses and community organizations.
Prior to coming to Quinnipiac, Sousa was an associate editor for a healthcare management publication from 2007 to 2008 before serving as the sports editor for the Times Community Newspapers in New London, Conn. from 2004 to 2007.
Sousa graduated from Quinnipiac with a bachelor’s degree in mass communication in 2003 and a master’s degree in journalism in 2005.
