Women's Outdoor Track & Field Distance Medley Relay Team Posts Outdoor Program Record at Penn Relays
Competing in arguably the world's most prestigious track meet other than the Olympics, the Quinnipiac women's outdoor track and field team posted two impressive results on Thursday in day one of the 120th running of the Penn Relays held at Franklin Field. The Bobcats were led by an inspired effort from their distance medley grouping while they also saw one of the program's all-time greatest in Becca White (Natick, Mass.) attack the 5000m against some of the toughest competition in the nation to complete the first day of action from Quinnipiac's contingent.

Paolucci Smacks Solo Home Run, Giunta Doubles in Go-Ahead Run for Softball in 4-3 Win over Sacred Heart
Two crucial runs on two thunderous hits in the fourth inning for the Quinnipiac University softball team factored heavily in the BobcatS' 4-3 victory over regional rival Sacred Heart on Thursday. In a game that featured a sunny sky but overwhelming wind gusts approaching 40 mph, the Bobcats weathered the storm with a solid pitching outing from junior Hannah Lindsley (Narragansett, R.I.) and two massive shots from junior Jordan Paolucci (Lake Mary, Fla.) and sophomore Paige Giunta (Downingtown, Pa.) that proved the difference for Quinnipiac.

The 2014 MAAC Tennis Championships begin this weekend, April 26-27 at Mercer County Park in West Windsor, N.J. Quinnipiac clinched the MAAC Regular-Season Title and will carry its perfect record into the semifinals. The Bobcats are set to face fourth-seeded Marist at 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.

The Quinnipiac University men’s lacrosse team (5-8, 3-3 MAAC) wraps up regular-season play this weekend, Saturday, April 26 against the United States Air Force Academy (8-4, 3-1 ECAC). The Bobcats and the Falcons are set to square off at 12 p.m. at the QU Lacrosse Turf Field on Mount Carmel Campus. Prior to faceoff, Quinnipiac will honor its senior class members with a brief ceremony.

The Quinnipiac baseball team will travel to Radford, Va. to take on Radford in a three-game non-conference series. The teams will open the series Friday, April 25th at 6:30 p.m., followed by a Saturday afternoon game at 4 p.m. before the series finale on Sunday, Apr. 27 at 1 p.m.

Softball Hosts Sacred Heart on Thursday Before Traveling to Reigning MAAC Champ Marist on Saturday
The Quinnipiac University softball team (9-30, 5-9 MAAC) has three games on the slate this week starting with a non-conference clash with Sacred Heart on Thursday from Hamden followed by a MAAC road doubleheader on Saturday against the reigning 2013 MAAC Tournament Champion and NCAA Tournament participant Marist Red Foxes. The Bobcats host the Pioneers on Thursday at 3:30 pm from the QU Softball Field and will begin their doubleheader at Marist on 1:00 pm on Saturday.

No. 3 Quinnipiac Acrobatics & Tumbling Meets No. 6 Hawaii Pacific In NCATA Quarterfinals, Friday April 25
After concluding their 2014 regular season at 5-2, the Quinnipiac acrobatics and tumbling team will face Hawaii Pacific in the quarterfinals of the NCATA National Tournament on Friday, April 25. This will be the second time this year that these two programs meet. Quinnipiac currently occupies third place in the NCATA Tournament, while the Sea Warriors sit in sixth place. The teams will take the mat at 5:15 pm (PST). Hawaii Pacific finished the regular season at 1-5 in its inaugural campaign.

Quinnipiac junior Jacqueline Raynor (Garden City, N.Y.) has put together a fine stretch of tennis over the past few weeks, and was rewarded for her efforts by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference on Wednesday, April 23, 2014. Raynor was tabbed MAAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week after helping the Bobcats to a 2-0 record against two conference opponents.

Just in time for Earth Day, Quinnipiac University was recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as a 2013-2014 Individual Conference Champion of the College & University Green Power Challenge for using more green power than any other school in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

Women’s Tennis Wins 2014 MAAC Regular-Season Title; Bobcats Down Manhattan, 4-0
The Quinnipiac University women’s tennis team clinched the 2014 MAAC Regular-Season Title on Tuesday evening, as the Bobcats completed a perfect season in conference play with a 4-0 win over Manhattan College at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. Quinnipiac will serve as the top overall seed in the upcoming MAAC Tournament Championship next weekend.

Men's Lacrosse Defeated By No. 13 Yale, 14-11; Keenan Nets Career High in Loss
It was a career night for sophomore Ryan Keenan (Oshawa, Ontario), but nationally-ranked No. 13 Yale University was too much for the Quinnipiac University men’s lacrosse team on Tuesday night. The Bulldogs topped the Bobcats, 14-11, at Reece Stadium in New Haven – renewing a rivalry that hadn’t seen action since the 2002 campaign.

Women's Lacrosse Raises $9,227 For Friends Of Jaclyn Foundation
Over the last few weeks the women’s lacrosse program has raised money for the Friends Of Jaclyn Foundation. Starting from March 27 the program set a goal to raise $5,000 for the foundation. To date the team has nearly doubled their goal by raising $9,227.

The Quinnipiac University baseball team lost to Hartford, 5-3, in a non-conference game at the QU Baseball Field in Hamden, Conn. With the loss, Quinnipiac drops to 15-17 overall while Hartford improves to 22-14 on the year.

Paige Giunta Caps Comeback for Softball With Walk-Off Double to Help Salvage Split for the Bobcats Against Monmouth
After trudging through 13-plus inning against the Monmouth Hawks without once gaining a lead, the Quinnipiac University softball team decided it was better late than never. Trailing 5-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh, the Bobcat offense came alive with four runs capped by a walk-off double from sophomore Paige Giunta (Downingtown, Pa.) to lift Quinnipiac to the 6-5 victory in game two of Sunday's doubleheader. The Bobcats dropped game one as Giunta's double salvaged a split in the two-game MAAC set to move Quinnipiac to 9-30 (5-9 MAAC) while the Hawks stand 14-17 (6-6 MAAC) on the season.

The Quinnipiac University baseball team defeated Saint Peter’s, 9-3, for its ninth straight victory as it improved to 15-16 overall and 10-3 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Saint Peter’s drops to 10-25 overall and 5-9 in conference play. The Bobcats also own an eight-game winning streak against MAAC opponents, the longest in the conference this season.

The Quinnipiac University baseball team swept a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference doubleheader against Saint Peter’s, winning 5-2 and 9-2, at the Quinnipiac Baseball Field in Hamden, Conn. The Bobcats’ winning streak extends to eight games as they improve to 14-16 overall and 9-3 in the MAAC while Saint Peter’s drops to 10-24 overall and 5-8 in league play.

Quinnipiac outscored Siena 9-5 in the second half and had seven different goal scorers, but it was not enough as the Bobcats fell to the Saints 15-11 in Loudonville. With the loss, Quinnipiac drops to 2-5 in MAAC play while Siena improves to 2-4 in conference play.

Tracy Campbell Dominates in the 1500m as Women's Outdoor Track & Field Close Out Larry Ellis Invitational
The Quinnipiac University women's outdoor track and field team finished competition at the Larry Ellis Invitational with one of the best 1500m runs the program has ever seen. Sophomore Tracy Campbell (Wall Township, N.J.) shined in her home state with the third-fastest 1500m in program history and the fastest since 2007 to highlight the Bobcats’ effort in the meet held at Princeton University on Saturday.

Quinnipiac junior captain Jenn Whaley (Farmington, Conn.) finished the final round of the 36-hole Roar-EE Invitational tied for 10th place out of 23 golfers. The Bobcats finished 5th out of five teams at Columbia University's annual tournament, hosted this year at the Knickerbocker Golf Course in Tenafly, N.J.

Faust Sisters Headline Friday's Action at Larry Ellis Invitational for Women's Outdoor Track & Field
The Quinnipiac University women's outdoor track and field team took a drive down to Princeton University to compete in the first of two days of action at the Larry Ellis Invitational. The Bobcats had a relatively light day as they fielded runners in just two events on Friday. Among the completed running events, the 800m was the shortest distance throughout the day as the meet featured specifically the distance events throughout the day. Competition will resume throughout the day on Saturday as the meet will round out with the remaining middle distance and sprint events.

Softball Swept By America East's First Place Stony Brook Seawolves, 4-2 and 8-3
The Quinnipiac University softball team certainly had their moments and hung in with the America East’s first place Stony Brook but ultimately fell twice in the non-conference doubleheader, 4-2 and 8-3. Despite frigid temperatures and impending darkness towards the latter half of game two, the Bobcats failed to go down easily as they held the Seawolves' offense scoreless in the final four innings of game one and three innings of game two. The Bobcats were doomed by their lack of timely hitting as they stranded 17 runners combined throughout the doubleheader. Quinnipiac falls to 8-29 on the season while Stony Brook ups their winning streak to seven games as they improve to 22-14.

Quinnipiac men’s ice hockey freshman Sam Anas (Potomac, Md.) received the Tim Taylor Award from the Hockey Commissioners Assocation (HCA) as the National Rookie of the Year, as announced by the association on Friday, Apr. 11. Anas is the first Quinnipiac player in the program’s history to be honored with the award given to the top freshman in NCAA Division I men’s ice hockey.

Two Home Doubleheaders Ahead for Softball: Stony Brook on Thursday at 3:00 PM and Monmouth on Easter Sunday at 12:00 PM
The Quinnipiac softball team begins their regular season-ending home stand that includes 11 games at home compared to just three on the road in their final 14 contests of the season with a Thursday non-conference doubleheader against Stony Brook. This year's meeting between the Seawolves and Bobcats will make nine straight seasons in which the two have faced off with Stony Brook owning the all-time advantage with an 8-5 record. Following the Thursday doubleheader is an Easter Sunday holiday special that features the Bobcats squaring off against the Monmouth Hawks with first pitch scheduled for 12:00 pm. In an annual rivalry that also is going into its ninth consecutive year, the Bobcats have split the all-time series with an 8-8 record against the Hawks.

The Quinnipiac acrobatics & tumbling team was recently ranked third in the NCATA Coaches Poll, announced on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 by coaches on the committee. This is the second time this season Quinnipiac was selected in the third spot for the poll. The Bobcats are 5-2 overall after concluding the 2014 regular season on the road in Philippi, W.Va. with back-to-back wins against Alderson Broaddus and Fairmont State.

The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) women's tennis match between Quinnipiac University and Manhattan College that was scheduled to be played at the USTA National Tennis Center on Tuesday, April 15 has been postponed due to rain in the forecast. Quinnipiac women's golf freshmen Nicole Scola and Emily Ribbins were within a stroke of each other - 77 and 78, respectively - following the Bobcats' first round play at the Brown Invitational at Metacomet Country Club. The first round was suspended with four teams still on the course, and will be completed on Monday morning.

The Bobcats are now 10-3 in their last 13 games and improve to 12-16 overall and 7-3 in MAAC play. Iona falls to 6-19 on the season and 3-6 in MAAC play.

The Quinnipiac women's lacrosse team made the final game at the Quinnipiac Lacrosse Field this season exciting as they battled the No. 1 team in the MAAC, the Marist Red Foxes, in an overtime classic. Marist would get the upper hand as they outscored Quinnipiac in two overtime periods 3-1 and captured their seventh straight victory, 15-13. Marist moves 9-2 overall and 4-0 in conference play while the Bobcats fall to 2-3 in conference play.

4x800m Relay Victorious, Three Bobcats Place in 1500m to Lead Quinnipiac to 6th Place Finish at Rider Invitational
The Quinnipiac women's outdoor track and field team has much to be excited about in their sixth place finish at the Rider Invitational on Saturday. In the Bobcats' first appearance at the site of the upcoming MAAC Championships, Quinnipiac scored 59 points on Saturday to finish in sixth place behind several quality programs including Rider (1st place), Sacred Heart (2nd) and St. Peter’s (4th). Graduate student Becca White (Natick, Mass.) was a steady contributor as she helped combine on the 4x800m relay victory as well as her 2nd place finish in the 1500m.

Fourth Quarter Comeback Halted In Men’s Lacrosse 11-10 Loss to Canisius
As thrilling an ending one may ever see in a men’s lacrosse game, a monstrous comeback bid by Quinnipiac University came up just short in an 11-10 loss to Canisius College before nearly 500 people at the QU Lacrosse Turf Saturday afternoon. Six unanswered goals in the fourth quarter pulled the Bobcats to within one goal with one minute to play, but a stellar defensive stand finalized a heartbreaking defeat for the home team.

Beyond The Field: Quinnipiac Women's Lacrosse Senior Allison Boudreau
Allison Boudreau, a member of Quinnipiac’s women’s lacrosse team, took nine days out of her schedule in February to help those in need. Bobcat Offense Held in Check With 4-0 Loss to Sacred Heart
After a record-setting weekend's worth of offense, the Quinnipiac softball team's hitting spree came to a halt on Thursday in a 4-0 loss to Sacred Heart from Pioneer Park. Quinnipiac's former Northeast Conference foe stymied the Bobcats all afternoon as the Sacred Heart pitching combination limited the Bobcats to just one hit in seven innings. With the loss the Bobcats fall to 8-23 on the season while Sacred Heart snaps their six-game losing streak to improve to 10-14.

Women's Lacrosse Visits Conte West Hills Magnet School In New Haven
Several members of the Quinnipiac Women's Lacrosse team visited Conte West Hills Magnet School in New Haven this past Thursday, April 10, to teach fourth graders about the sport of lacrosse. The students are studying local Native American tribes and have learned that the sport of lacrosse was originally played by many tribes throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region.

After one of the most impressive offensive displays in the history of Quinnipiac softball last weekend, junior catcher/infielder Jordan Paolucci (Lake Mary, Fla.) took home MAAC Player of the Week honors, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, April 8. Hannah Lindsley Tosses First No-Hitter in QU Softball's Division I Era to Lead Bobcats Past Manhattan, 2-0
Quinnipiac junior Hannah Lindsley (Narragansett, R.I.) had the pitching performance of the year on Monday, hurling the first no-hitter for Quinnipiac softball in the Division I era (since 1998) to defeat Manhattan, 2-0. Lindsley had everything working as she limited the highest-scoring lineup in the MAAC coming into the weekend to nothing offensively. Her triumph also lifts the Bobcats who've won five of their last six games to improve to 8-22 on the season and 4-4 in the MAAC.

A two-run double off the bat of Scott Donaghue (Marlboro, N.J.) proved to be the difference on Monday afternoon, as the Bobcats claimed a 4-3 victory in game three of its weekend series at Niagara. Quinnipiac took two of the three games to improve to 4-3 in MAAC play.

QU Softball Mashes Eight Home Runs in Two-Game Split of Rider; Paolucci and Lindsley Each Go Deep Twice in Sunday's Action
Any pitching staff who doubts the Quinnipiac softball offense is sorely mistaken as the Bobcats mashed 26 hits, eight homers, five doubles and 19 runs across a two-game split against Rider. Quinnipiac went deep three times in the game one but couldn't hold the lead late as they fell to the Broncs, 8-7, in game one. An even greater display was seen in game two as Quinnipiac tallied five home runs, including the first in the careers of Hannah Lindsley and Keilani Finley, to dominate Rider, 12-1, in five innings.

Despite filling the box score with a season-high of 15 goals on Sunday afternoon, the Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team fell short to Canisius, 23-15, in MAAC action at the QU Lacrosse Turf Field. The Bobcats featured 10 different players in the scoring column, five of which who scored twice, in the team's second conference loss of the season.

Acrobatics and Tumbling Garners First Place in Tri-Meet Over Alderson Broaddus and Fairmont State
The Quinnipiac Acrobatics and Tumbling team defeated Alderson Broaddus and Fairmont State in their second tri-meet of the season. The Bobcats came out on top with a winning total of 281.89. Fairmont State followed the Bobcats with a final score of 274.23, while Alderson Broaddus finished with 272.03 points. The Bobcats improves to 5-2 on the 2014 regular season. Fairmont State stands at 6-2, while Alderson Broaddus drop to 2-7. Quinnipiac took five out of the six events while Alderson Broaddus scored high in the Acro event.

Senior Amanda Danziger (Smithtown, N.Y.) was the recipient of The Tara Thibeault Award, bestowed upon the team’s Most Valuable Player, at the Quinnipiac University field hockey awards banquet on Saturday, April 5, 2014. She and four other student-athletes received laurels as the Bobcats celebrated the accomplishments of their championship season and the eight senior class members of the program.

Distance Medley Relay Team Posts 6th Place Finish to Close Out Colonial Relays for Women's Outdoor Track & Field
The Quinnipiac women's outdoor track and field team fielded two relay teams to close out their run in the second day of action at the Colonial Relays hosted by the College of William & Mary. The Bobcats' distance medley relay team picked up a 6th place result on the afternoon out of 19 teams while the 4x800m relay team filled with Quinnipiac upperclassmen also took to the track to wrap up their second straight week of competition down in Virginia. With the 6th place result in the distance medley relay, the Bobcats earned 11 total points to pick up a 28th place result out of 40 competing programs. Quinnipiac placed first among the three MAAC teams in action as Marist took 32nd while Iona took 35th. Rutgers won the event with 111 total points.

Bobcat Offense Breaks Out With Single-Game Hits Record to Dominate Saint Peter's, 16-4, in Five Innings
For those fortunate enough to attend Quinnipiac softball's game two doubleheader against St. Peter's, they saw an offensive display that rivals some of the best the program has seen in its 37-year history. The Bobcat offensive attack busted out a single-game program record 20 hits and also scored the largest margin of victory on the road since May 6, 2005 as they defeated Saint Peter’s, 16-4, in five innings.

The Quinnipiac University women's golf team completed the first round of the 2014 Delaware State Spring Invitational on Saturday afternoon, a 36-hole tournament hosted by the Hornets at the Maple Dale Country Club. Sophomore Jenn Whaley (Farmington, Conn.) finished day one as the top finisher for Quinnipiac. The second year Bobcat finished the day with a score of 81. Whaley was tied with Towson's Krissy Unger for best score of the day.

Dylan Webster (Brampton, Ontario) and Ryan Keenan (Oshawa, Ontario) each scored five goals for the Bobcats, helping Quinnipiac extend its current win-streak to three straight games.

Having long been considered the best power hitter the Quinnipiac softball program has ever seen, Jordan Paolucci (Lake Mary, Fla.) continued to add to her legacy as she became just the third Bobcat ever to reach 100 career RBI in a 6-3 victory over Saint Peter's. Paolucci led the Bobcat offense with her three RBI on the day to go along with three hits for her fifth career three-hit game. Quinnipiac's (5-21, 1-3 MAAC) triumph over the Peacocks (4-21, 0-3 MAAC) in game one of Saturday’s doubleheader marked their first victory in their new conference, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).

A second trip down to Virginia for the Quinnipiac women's outdoor track & field team felt much like the first as the Bobcats stormed out of the gates with some strong performances in their opening day of action at the Colonial Relays hosted by the College of William & Mary. Just one week following an impressive debut at the Fred Hardy Invite from Richmond, Va., the Bobcats' sophomore Shameal Samuels (Hartford, Conn.) was at her best on Friday in her signature event while senior Amanda Faust (Macungie, Pa.) ran the fastest 10,000m since Becca White back on May 13, 2011 to earn a solid Top 10 finish.

Softball Hits the Road for MAAC Showdowns Against Saint Peter's, Rider and Manhattan
Quinnipiac softball fans had all they could ask for in their weekday games this week as the Bobcats lost a nail biter to Fairfield before walking-off with an 11-10 victory over UConn on Thursday. Hoping the momentum translates into a successful weekend, the Bobcats (4-21, 0-3 MAAC) will now face some considerable tests this weekend as they hit the road for five MAAC games starting with a Saint Peter’s doubleheader on Saturday. On Sunday Quinnipiac will play a pair at Rider and will finish up a postponed game from March 29 against Manhattan that had the Bobcats leading by a score of 1-0 and with the bases loaded in the fourth inning.

The Quinnipiac acrobatics and tumbling team looks to close out their 2014 regular season on Saturday, April 5. The Bobcats will face Alderson Broaddus and Fairmont State in their second tri-meet of the season. Quinnipiac who currently occupies third place in the NCATA will meet the Battlers and Fighting Falcons in Philippi, W.Va. at the Rex Pyles Arena on the Alderson Broaddus campus. The teams will take the mat at 6 pm. Alderson Broaddus enters its inaugural season in the NCATA and is currently 2-5 this season. Fairmont State stands at 5-1, while the Bobcats enter Saturday’s match up at 3-2.

Cassie Turner Wins Gold Medal With Team Canada, Defeating Team USA at 2014 U18 World Championships in Budapest
After a nerve-racking 1-0 overtime victory over Russia in the semifinals, Canada's Under-18 National Team dominated the United States with a gold medal victory, 5-1, in the 2014 U-18 World Championship. Quinnipiac women's ice hockey associate head coach Cassie Turner helped guide the Canadians through the tourney run as one of the assistant coaches, traveling back to Hamden with her gold medal in-hand.

Generating runs by way of the long ball hadn’t been incorporated into Quinnipiac’s arsenal this year. That all changed however when the Bobcats took a trip to Biondi Park on Wednesday afternoon. The QU baseball team hit four homeruns and cruised to an 11-5 victory over Dartmouth at Red Rolfe Field in Hanover. The Bobcats improved to 6-15 on the season.

With the win Monmouth moves to 2-0 in MAAC play while the Bobcats fall to 1-1 in conference play.

Freshman Devin Kelly (Miller Place, N.Y.) scored the game winning goal with two minutes remaining to propel the Quinnipiac women’s lacrosse team to its first victory of the season and their first win as a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The Bobcats overcame a 10-6 second half deficit and scored two goals in the last five minutes as they defeated the Manhattan Jaspers, 12-11, at the Quinnipiac Lacrosse Field in Hamden. With the victory Quinnipiac moves to 1-0 in conference play while Manhattan falls to 0-1 in the MAAC and 2-7 overall.

Men's Lacrosse Tops Detroit Mercy in Overtime Thriller, 10-9
Michael Sagl’s (West Islip, N.Y.) goal with 3:08 seconds remaining in the first overtime gave the Quinnipiac men’s lacrosse team a thrilling, come-from-behind 10-9 road victory at Detroit Mercy on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Bobcats moved to 3-4 overall, but more importantly improved to 2-1 in MAAC play.

Four Bobcats Combine for Victory in 4x800m Relay While Two Compete in First Throwing Event in Program History at Fred Hardy Invitational
If the remainder of the Quinnipiac women's outdoor track and field schedule is as successful for the Bobcats as it was on Saturday, the primed for another record-breaking season as they enter their first year as a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Bobcats could be found up-and-down the result list in events that five years prior, Quinnipiac had no realistic chance of competing. Two local products in sophomore Jennifer Mears (Vernon, Conn.) and freshman Cori Reid (Old Saybrook, Conn.) made Quinnipiac history competing in the javelin event at the Fred Hardy Invitational, becoming the first two Bobcats to ever compete in a throwing event in program history. Also leading the way on Saturday was a group of four Bobcat runners who combined to land a victory in the 4x800m relay event.

Baseball’s Ninth-Inning Rally Comes Up Short in 3-2 Loss to Rider; Game Two Postponed to Sunday
Quinnipiac University was in control for the first six innings of Saturday’s Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference baseball game against Rider, but a three-run seventh for the Broncs proved to be the difference in a 3-2 Bobcat loss at the QU Baseball Field. Quinnipiac made some noise in the ninth inning, but couldn’t plate the tying run in its first home game of the 2014 season.

Softball Falls to Manhattan in MAAC Opener, 6-1; Game Two Postponed Due to Rain
The Bobcats were stymied all afternoon, first by Manhattan’s Kate Bowen and then the rain, as the Quinnipiac softball team fell to Manhattan, 6-1, on Saturday from Gaelic Park. Quinnipiac’s offense could only muster four hits in a seven inning struggle against Bowen in game one to start the day and the Bobcats were leading 1-0 with the bases loaded in the fourth inning of game two, only to have play cease for the day due to heavy rainfall. The second game of the doubleheader will resume at a later date this season that is still to be determined.

The Bobcats' Saturday MAAC doubleheader on the road against Manhattan has been moved from 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm to 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. Quinnipiac’s Sunday home opening doubleheader against Monmouth has been moved to Monday at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm. Finally, the Bobcats’ have rescheduled a non-conference tilt against UConn to Thursday at 3:30 pm from the QU Softball Field.

Softball's Clash With UConn Scheduled for Thursday, March 27 Cancelled Due to Inclement Weather
The Quinnipiac University softball team was forced to cancel their game against UConn scheduled for Thursday, March 27 at 3:30 pm due to the inclement weather and field conditions. Attempts were made by both teams to move the game the Storrs but both team's playing surface was unfit for games and local weather reports call for temperatures in the low 40s with gusting winds up to 20 mph. Courtney Solt Earns the First MAAC Player of the Week Honor in Quinnipiac Softball's Program History
Just two weeks after Quinnipiac softball earned its first MAAC Pitcher of the Week honor, sophomore outfielder Courtney Solt became the program’s first to win the MAAC Player of the Week award, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, March 25. Solt wins her first career Player of the Week award after leading the Northeast Conference with three Rookie of the Week honors last season. This weekly honor is the first Player of the Week award won for Quinnipiac in their new conference while it also is the first Player of the Week for the Bobcats since Mina Duffy won the honor back on April 3, 2012.

HAMDEN, Conn. – John Delaney has been named as the 10th baseball head coach in Quinnipiac University history, effective at the end of the 2014 season, as announced by Director of Athletics & Recreation Jack McDonald. Delaney will assume head coaching duties effective on July 1, 2014. He is currently the Bobcats’ associate head coach under long-time head coach Dan Gooley’s in the latter’s final season.

The Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team has been announced as the No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament East Regional, as announced on the NCAA Selection Show on Sunday, March 23, which was televised nationally on ESPNU. The Bobcats’ selection into the East Regional means they will play in the Webster Bank Arena from Bridgeport, Conn., just 30 minutes away from Hamden and the campus of Quinnipiac. The Selection Committee matched the Bobcats up with the No. 3 seed in the East Regional, the Providence Friars, in a game that will be held on Friday, March 28 at 5:30 pm live on ESPNU.

Quinnipiac Softball Hosts UConn on Thursday for 2014 Home Opener, Face Manhattan and Monmouth for MAAC Opener this Weekend
After playing 21 games away from Hamden, the Quinnipiac University softball team will return home to the QU Softball Field for their 2014 home opener. Coming off their most impressive victory of the season on Sunday, in a 2-1 upset victory over Towson, the Bobcats will now take on an annual regional foe in UConn on Thursday afternoon from Hamden. The Huskies own a 16-5 all-time record against Quinnipiac but the Bobcats have won four of the last six meetings. After their non-conference matchup on Thursday, Quinnipiac will begin MAAC competition with weekend doubleheaders on the road against Manhattan on Saturday and at home against Monmouth on Sunday. The Bobcats split in two games against each the Jaspers and Hawks in 2013 as they look to get off on the right foot in their first season in the new conference.

Some timely hitting, mixed in with a clutch pitching performance from sophomore Sydney Robey (Glenmoore, Pa.) was enough to push Quinnipiac softball past Towson, 2-1, in an upset victory on the road from the Towson Softball Complex. The Bobcats' sophomore ace pitcher tossed a complete game five-hitter while junior Jordan Paolucci (Lake Mary, Fla.) drove in the game-winning run with an RBI triple in the fifth. Quinnipiac snaps a six-game losing streak to improve to 3-17 while Towson falls to 16-10 on the season.

The Quinnipiac women's lacrosse team scored seven straight goals to take an 8-7 lead over Binghamton with two minutes remaining in the game, but fell 9-8 after Binghamton's Brianne Arthur scored her 28th and 29th goals of the season. Arthur scored off a free position with six seconds remaining to give the Bearcats a program best sixth win of the season. A combined seven RBI from junior Nikki Barba (San Diego, Calif.) and sophomore Sydney Robey (Glenmoore, Pa.) unfortunately wasn’t enough as the Quinnipiac softball team faltered late in a 9-7 loss to Wagner on Sunday. The Bobcats picked up plenty of run support as Barba and Robey each went deep with a three-run home run and grand slam, respectively, but three runs in the seventh inning for the Seahawks sealed their come-from-behind victory. The loss drops Quinnipiac to 3-18 while their former Northeast Conference counterpart improves to 10-13.

Kelly Babstock Named CCM/AHCA All-American; Becomes Program's First Ever to Receive Honor
Quinnipiac women's ice hockey's senior forward Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario), the program's all-time scoring leader and catalyst for the last four seasons, can now call herself an All-American. The Bobcats' do-everything forward was named a 2013-14 CCM Hockey Women's Division I Second Team All-American after leading her team to the best season in program history with a 22-6-9 record and a trip to the ECAC Hockey Semifinals. Babstock was one of 12 players honored from a list that included six from the ECAC Hockey, four from the WCHA, and one each from the CHA and Hockey East.

The Quinnipiac softball team was in control for a majority on Sunday’s contest against Rutgers but eight unanswered runs in the final three innings for the Scarlet Knights helped them walk away 8-2 winners over the Bobcats. The Bobcats jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after the first inning which held up throughout the first five frames until a six-run sixth inning for Rutgers proved to be the different as Quinnipiac falls to 2-15 while the Scarlet Knights improve to 10-7 on the season.

The most prolific power hitter in program history, junior Jordan Paolucci (Lake Mary, Fla.), crushed mammoth home run up and out in the fourth inning to lead the Bobcats in a 10-2 loss in the program's first ever meeting against Purdue. Quinnipiac was able to push two runs across, one on Paolucci's home run and the other on an RBI single from sophomore Courtney Solt (Boyertown, Pa.), against the Big Ten Conference power. The Bobcats’ loss drops them to 2-13 on the season while the Boilermakers jump up to 10-15-1.

Moore Softball Complex. The three errors helped lead to four unearned runs for Florida A&M, spoiling a great complete game effort from sophomore Sydney Robey (Glenmoore, Pa.) as she allowed just six hits and one walk while striking out three in her complete game, six inning effort. The Quinnipiac acrobatics & tumbling team finished 10.4 points behind first-place Oregon on Monday evening at the Matthew Knight Arena in front of a crowd of 1,242. The Bobcats' total of 270.18 was also edged by Azusa Pacific’s 278.36, as the Cougars finished in second and the Bobcats in third. Shameal Samuels Finishes 6th in 400m, Distance Medley Relay Places 11th at ECAC Championships in Boston
The Quinnipiac women's indoor track and field team wrapped up their 2013-14 campaign with another program-first as sophomore Shameal Samuels (Hartford, Conn.) became the first Bobcat in the Division I era to place in an event at the ECAC Championships. In a regional event pitting the best competitors from around the Eastern College Athletic Conference, Samuels picked up a 6th place finish in the 400m to help rewrite the Quinnipiac record books. The Bobcats conclude their 2013-14 season with new program records in the 60m, 200m, 300m, 400m, 500m, 800m, 1000m, long jump, triple jump, DMR, and 4x400m relay and were also named New England Champions in the 400m and 4x400m relay for the first time in program history.

Track Center. Not to be outdone was the performance of her sophomore teammate Chelsea Savage (Pembroke, Mass.), who broke a five-year-old program record in the 1000m. The Bobcats' work isn't finished at the ECAC Championships as Samuels will compete in the 400m dash finals at 1:15 pm following Quinnipiac's appearance in the distance medley relay finals at 11:30 am on Sunday.

Babstock earns her fourth All-ECAC Hockey honor and is a First Team selection for the third time. Women’s Basketball Clinches Spot in the MAAC Semifinals with 72-61 Win over Canisius
The fourth-seeded Quinnipiac University women’s basketball team advanced to the semifinals of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Tournament on Friday evening with a 72-61 victory over fifth-seeded Canisius College at the MassMutual Center in Springfield. The Bobcats, now 20-11 on the season, will face top-seeded Iona College on Sunday, March 9 at 11 a.m.

No. 4 Seed Quinnipiac Women's Ice Hockey Travels to No. 1 Clarkson in ECAC Hockey Semifinals on Saturday
A dominating defensive performance with plenty of offense sprinkled in helped the No. 7 nationally-ranked Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team earn a spot in the ECAC Hockey Semifinals. The Bobcats swept St. Lawrence from the High Point Solutions Arena in the Quarterfinals as they now will vie for their first trip to the ECAC Hockey Semifinals against the No. 1 seed and No. 3 nationally-ranked Clarkson Golden Knights. Quinnipiac is making their third ECAC Hockey Semifinal appearance in program history and will look to repeat the success the team had in their last meeting against the Golden Knights from Cheel Arena in the postseason where they dispatched Clarkson in the 2012 ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals in three games.

New England Champs: Shameal Samuels in 400m Dash, 4x400m Relay Team Pulls Off Stunning Victory from New England Championships
Saturday was truly a special day for the Quinnipiac women's indoor track and field team as sophomore Shameal Samuels (Hartford, Conn.) won the 400m dash and followed that up by helping the 4x400m relay team pull off a stunning upset to win the event and claim a piece of two New England Championships. Sophomores Nia Baker (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Kristen Ulrich (Clark, N.J.) and junior Becca Stabile (Haverhill, Mass.) all combined with Samuels to pick up one of the most impressive victories in program history as they stunned a crowded field to come away with the victory in the 4x400m relay. The Bobcats earned a total of 33 points to finish in 9th place out of 22 teams, good for their highest finish at the New England Championships in program history.

Chelsea Laden, Bobcat Defense Stands Tall for No. 7 Women's Ice Hockey in Series-Clinching Victory Over St. Lawrence, 2-1
It took every ounce of energy they had left but when all was said and done the No. 7 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team came away with a triumphant 2-1 series-clinching victory over St. Lawrence from High Point Solutions Arena. As the clock wound down under three minutes the Saints and Bobcats were both playing desperate hockey as St. Lawrence was flinging the puck towards the net at every opportunity while Quinnipiac was diving and sticking away at every loose puck trying to get a clear. In the end, a few timely blocks from the Bobcats and several big saves from junior goalie Chelsea Laden (Lakeville, Minn.) proved enough for the home team to advance to the ECAC Hockey Semifinals.

Darkangelo Pumps in Two Goals to Lead No. 7 Bobcats to 5-0 Shutout of St. Lawrence in Game One of ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals
The goals came from all angles on Friday night as the No. 7 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team pumped in five goals in a shutout effort over St. Lawrence, 5-0, from High Point Solutions Arena. Junior Shiann Darkangelo (Brighton, Mich.) continued her breakout season with three points (two goals, one assist) in her first postseason appearance as a member of the Bobcats. Junior goalie Chelsea Laden (Lakeville, Minn.) was outstanding in net, making a season-high 28 saves to post her eighth shutout of the season. Quinnipiac (21-5-9, 11-4-7 ECAC Hockey) will look to clinch the series tomorrow at 4:00 pm in game two of the best-of-three ECAC Hockey Quarterfinal series against the Saints (13-18-3, 12-7-3 ECAC Hockey).

Quinnipiac improves to 22-8-5 overall and 12-6-3 in ECAC Hockey with the win, while St. Lawrence drops to 12-17-4 overall and 6-11-4 in league play. No. 4 Seed Quinnipiac Women's Ice Hockey Hosts No. 5 St. Lawrence in ECAC Hockey Quarterfinal Series This Weekend
This weekend will feature the second straight home playoff series for the No. 4 seed Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team as well as the second straight year in which they will meet the No. 5 seed St. Lawrence Saints in the Quarterfinal round. The Bobcats controlled their own destiny last weekend and came through with four big points on the round to secure home ice over the Saints, whom they haven't beaten in two matchups this season (0-1-1). This is the fifth straight trip to the postseason for the Bobcats and their third time hosting a series in the opening round of the playoffs. They are still yet to win a home playoff series as St. Lawrence (2013) and Rensselaer (2010) both dispatched Quinnipiac at home in three games of their respective Quarterfinal series.

Quinnipiac University Director of Athletics and Recreation Jack McDonald has announced that Jill Karwoski will be promoted to softball head coach, effective immediately. Kelly Babstock Named Top 10 Finalist for Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award
Quinnipiac women's ice hockey senior forward Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) was named as one of the 10 finalists for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award. An award of The USA Hockey Foundation, the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award is annually presented to the top player in NCAA Division I women's ice hockey. Selection criteria includes “outstanding individual and team skills, sportsmanship, performance in the clutch, personal character, competiveness and a love for hockey” in addition to academic achievement and civic involvement. Babstock becomes the first player in program history to ever have been named a finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Award.

Needing a victory to secure home ice for the ECAC Hockey playoffs, the No. 9/10 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey did just that and then some with a record-breaking day for senior Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) in a 3-0 win over Colgate on Saturday from Starr Rink. Babstock picked up an assist in the second period to record her 200th career point to become the first women's ice hockey player in Quinnipiac history to accomplish the feat. With the victory, the Bobcats (20-5-9, 11-4-7 ECAC Hockey) earn the No. 4 seed and will host No. 5 St. Lawrence in a rematch of last year’s thrilling Quarterfinal series.

An incredible display of defense and skill helped keep the game close before senior Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) did what she's done her entire career and made the plays when her team needed them the most. Trailing 1-0 heading into the third period, the No. 9/10 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team stormed back for one of their biggest wins in program history over No. 3 Cornell, 2-1, in front of a packed crowd at Lynah Rink on Friday. The No. 3 ranked Cornell represent the highest-ranked opponent Quinnipiac has ever beaten and it also represents their first victory at Lynah Rink since Nov. 18, 2006. Shameal Samuels Becomes Quinnipiac's First Individual MAAC Champion to Lead Bobcats to 6th Place at MAAC Championship
Sophomore Shameal Samuels (Hartford, Conn.) became Quinnipiac women's indoor track and field’s first ever individual champion with a 1st place finish and program record time in the 400m dash in the MAAC Championship on Friday. The Bobcats totaled 62 points on the afternoon, scoring in nine different events to finish in sixth place out of seven competing institutions. Both of Quinnipiac's relay teams (Distance Medley, 4 x 400m) finished in second place in their respective events while freshman Bonnie Pisciotta (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) ran the 60m dash in a record breaking 7.91 seconds to highlight an impressive showing from the Bobcats in their first appearance in the MAAC Championship.

Quinnipiac women's ice hockey forward Erica Uden Johansson's (Sundsvall, Sweden) snipe shot goal in the second period put Team Sweden up 2-0 on Thursday but a third period Switzerland rally ended in a 4-3 loss to the Swiss in the bronze medal match at the Bolshoy Ice Dome. With the loss, the Swedes leave Sochi with a fourth place finish, their second such result in as many Olympic competitions.

No. 9/10 Women's Ice Hockey Closes Out Regular Season at No. 3 Cornell and Colgate
With just two games remaining, the No. 9/10 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team has the power to control their own destiny this weekend as three points or better would guarantee them the No. 4 seed and home ice in the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals. In order to get three or four points, the Bobcats will need to do something they haven’t done since early November and that's come away with an undefeated weekend on the road. The good news for the Bobcats is they've already had great success against their respective opponents this season as they shutout Colgate back on Nov. 1, 6-0, and controlled play against the then-No. 3 ranked Cornell with the game ending in a 1-1 tie. With the Bobcats guaranteed at least the No. 5 seed, every point will be crucial in them trying to get back to the High Point Solutions Arena where they have already finished with their best home record in program history (12-2-5).

Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey forward Erica Uden Johansson (Sundsvall, Sweden) put three shots on former University of Minnesota goalie Noora Raty to help spark the come-from-behind victory over Finland. Sweden now advances to the medal round where they will take on Team USA in what will be a rematch of their 2006 Semifinal meeting wherein Team Sweden knocked off the United States, 3-2, to advance to the goal medal match. The goal for Babstock salvaged one point for the Bobcats as they took an early 2-0 lead but three unanswered Bulldog goals sent the home team into a frenzy in the last four minutes, eventually securing the game-tying tally. Quinnipiac posted their nation-leading ninth tie of the season as they move to 17-5-9 (8-4-7 ECAC Hockey) while Yale’s record stands at 7-13-6 (5-8-6 ECAC Hockey).

Hamden, Conn. – The Quinnipiac Acrobatics and Tumbling team is teaming up with the Quinnipiac Athletic Student Trainers Club for its ninth annual Cheer and Dance Challenge. No. 10 Women's Ice Hockey Host Yale, Brown With Both Games Set to Air on ESPN3; Senior Day Slated for Saturday
Despite the Bobcats' loss to St. Lawrence last weekend, the No. 10 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team still sits in a good position as they control their own destiny in the fight for home ice in the upcoming ECAC Hockey Tournament. Quinnipiac is already guaranteed a spot in the playoffs, as they can fall no lower than the seventh seed, but they sit just one point ahead of St. Lawrence (21 points) and two ahead of Princeton (19 points) as those three teams are all in the running for the No. 4 seed and final team that is guaranteed home ice in the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals. Now in comes the Yale Bulldogs and Brown Bears for the final home weekend series of the regular season for Quinnipiac as the team will honor the six seniors before the starts of Saturday’s game against Brown. Director of Athletics & Recreation Jack McDonald has announced an agreement to deliver Quinnipiac women's ice hockey events live on ESPN3. Quinnipiac and ESPN3 will produce the first game of its weekend schedule on Friday, Feb. 8 when the nationally-ranked No. 10 women's ice hockey team hosts Yale and will continue on Saturday, Feb. 15 for Quinnipiac’s regular season home finale against Brown.

Quinnipiac women's ice hockey forward Erica Uden Johansson (Sundsvall, Sweden) faced Team Germany as a member of Team Sweden on Tuesday and helped lead her team to a 4-0 victory over Germany. Sweden picked up their second straight victory in Group B pool play, having defeated Japan 1-0 on Sunday. With Russia’s 2-1 victory over Japan on Tuesday, Sweden and Russia are both guaranteed advancement into the Quarterfinal stage but not before they square off on Thursday at 12:00 p.m. Eastern in a game televised on MSNBC.

Uden Johansson made an immediate impact with her National Team as she registered a team and game-high four shots in the Swedes' 1-0 victory over Japan in Group B opening round action from the 2014 Sochi Olympics. Quinnipiac women's ice hockey's and two-time Olympian Erica Uden Johansson (Sundsvall, Sweden) was recently highlighted by NBC Connecticut in a video feature in preparation for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi. Uden Johansson was recently chosen among a group of 21 players on Jan. 21, 2014 to compete in the 2014 Winter Olympics for Team Sweden. This will be her second appearance as a member of Team Sweden in the Olympics as she also competed in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.

The game appeared to be going in the Golden Knights favor after 40 minutes but a furious third period rally brought No. 8/9 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey back from a 3-1 deficit to tie No. 3 ranked Clarkson, 3-3, from Cheel Arena on Friday night. Goals from senior Amanda Colin (Burnsville, Minn.) and junior Shiann Darkangelo (Brighton, Mich.) quickly erased the two-goal deficit less than four minutes into the third period and the Bobcat defense behind some key saves late from junior Chelsea Laden (Lakeville, Minn.) helped Quinnipiac earn a tie against the highest ranked team in the ECAC Hockey. Junior Becca Stabile (Haverhill, Mass.) highlighted a strong day of action that saw the Bobcats breaking another school record, nearly breaking another two and finished with three individuals qualifying for the ECAC Championships in their respective events. No. 8/9 Women's Ice Hockey Ships to Upstate New York for Matchups Against No. 3 Clarkson and St. Lawrence
The past few seasons, this weekend road trip for the No. 8/9 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team has only added in its significance to all three teams involved and the 2013-14 season is certainly no different. The Bobcats will travel eight hours to upstate New York where they will take on a pair of opponents who both hold the key to postseason positioning. The weekend’s first game will pit Quinnipiac against the one of the hottest teams in college hockey in the No. 3 Clarkson Golden Knights. Currently riding a 10-game unbeaten streak (9-0-1), Clarkson enters the weekend as the highest-ranked ECAC Hockey team and with the hottest player in the country in Jamie Lee Rattray who has amassed 12 points in her last four games. St. Lawrence, meanwhile, sits two points behind Quinnipiac in fifth place in the ECAC Hockey standings. With their first meeting back in November ending in a 1-1 tie, a win on Saturday would give the team two points as well as a crucial tiebreaker should these two sides be tied for conference points at the end of the season. With only six games remaining in the regular season, every game takes on an added significance and this weekend certainly is no different than the rest.

For the third time this season, Quinnipiac freshman forward Emma Woods (Burford, Ontario) picked up the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014. Woods' third Rookie of the Week honor moves her past Nicole Kosta and she now stands behind only Kelly Babstock for the most Rookie weekly distinctions in program history. The decision on Saturday marks the highest-ranked opponent Quinnipiac has tied in their program history while they also break up Harvard's season-high five game winning streak. Sophomore Shameal Samuels (Hartford, Conn.) kept rolling along with a victory in the 300m dash while classmate Alea Simons (Piscataway, N.J.) advanced to the 60m dash finals to lead the way for the Quinnipiac women's indoor track and field team at the Harvard Invitational. Men’s Tennis Drops 2014 Opener at Brown, 5-2
Junior Eric Ambrosio (Lloyd Harbor, N.Y.) and freshman Kei Ezaka (Ojai, Calif.) each added wins to their season totals on Sunday, but the Quinnipiac men’s tennis team ran into a tough Brown squad as the Bears spoiled the Bobcats’ 2014 opener with a 5-2 win inside the Pizzitola Center in Providence. The Bears won two doubles matches and added four singles wins to defeat the Bobcats in the non-conference clash.

Connor Jones (Montrose, British Columbia) scored the fastest goal to start a game in Quinnipiac history and Jordan Samuels-Thomas (West Hartford, Conn.) became the newest member of the 100-point clubas the No. 5 Bobcats cruised to a 8-1 win at Dartmouth. With the win, Quinnipiac improves to 19-4-5 overall and 9-3-2 in ECAC Hockey while Dartmouth drops to 3-15-3 overall and 2-11-1 in league play.

No. 9 Women's Ice Hockey Rallies to Claim 3-1 Victory Over Dartmouth; Head Coach Rick Seeley Earns 100th Career Win at QU
An early deficit on Friday night didn't faze the No. 9 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team as they rallied back and earned a 3-1 victory over Dartmouth in ECAC Hockey action. The Big Green found the back of the net first, midway through the second period but three unanswered goals helped lift Quinnipiac to their eight conference victory, 17th of the season and 100th in five-plus seasons for the Bobcats’ head coach Rick Seeley. He becomes the first head coach in program history to reach the 100-win milestone as his team improves to 17-4-6 (8-3-4 ECAC Hockey) in 2013-14 while Dartmouth falls to 7-14-1 (6-9-1 ECAC Hockey).

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – Paced by a 14-2 run to start the second half, the Quinnipiac Bobcats defeated the Rider Broncs, 54-44, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference matchup at Alumni Gymnasium in Lawrenceville, N.J. Quinnipiac held Rider to 16.7 percent shooting in the second half and held the second leading scorer in the conference, MyNeshia McKenzie, to just seven points. The nationally-ranked No. 10 Quinnipiac University and No. 8 Robert Morris University women's ice hockey teams skated to a 1-1 tie through overtime at the High Point Solutions Arena from the TD Bank Sports Center on Friday evening. Sophomore Cydney Roesler (Stittsville, Ontario) found the back of the net for just the second time in her career while junior goalie Chelsea Laden (Lakeville, Minn.) was solid in net with 21 saves to preserve the Bobcats' nation-leading sixth tie of the season. With the result, the Bobcats move to 16-3-6 overall while the Colonials go to 18-3-2 on the year. The non-conference foes will take the ice tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the backend of the two-game set.

Ousmane Drame Leads Bobcats to 70-61 Victory over Monmouth
“I was really thrilled with the play of Ousmane Drame tonight, he was terrific,” commented Quinnipiac men’s basketball head coach Tom Moore after Thursday night’s game. Drame posted career highs of 21 rebounds and seven blocked shots in helping the Bobcats to a 70-61 victory over Monmouth at the TD Bank Sports Center. The seven blocks set a new QU Division I program record, while his 21 rebounds matched a Division I record that stood for some seven years. Drame added 15 points and collected his 15th career double-double in the team’s fourth win in their last five games.

The Swedish Ice Hockey Association has announced the 21 players who will compete in the Olympics women's ice hockey tournament in Sochi 2014 and among the chosen few is Quinnipiac women's ice hockey forward Erica Uden Johansson (Sundsvall, Sweden). This will be Uden Johansson's second appearance as a member of Team Sweden in the Olympics as she also competed in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Sweden will first hit the ice in Group B prelim action against Japan on Sunday, February 9 followed by a bout against Germany on Feb. 11 and host Russia on Feb. 13.

This marks the 12th consecutive week the Bobcats have been ranked in the USCHO poll and second consecutive week in which they earned the No. 10 ranking. Quinnipiac currently stands 16-3-5 (7-3-4 ECAC Hockey) on the season and tied for first place in the conference with Cornell (18 points each).

Overtime seemed imminent throughout the first 55-plus minutes in this Saturday afternoon affair between the No. 10 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team and Union. The Bobcats flew in shot after shot on Union’s defensive end to no avail, even a would-be Quinnipiac was taken away by the referees upon review. The scoreless draw appeared ready to go into extra minutes; that was until the Bobcats' senior captain Amanda Colin (Burnsville, Minn.) lifted her team with the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Union from Frank L. Messa Rink. Quinnipiac's dramatic win puts them at 16-3-5 (7-3-4 ECAC Hockey) while Union's three-game unbeaten streak is snapped as they fall to 8-13-1 (3-7 ECAC Hockey).

In their first action since returning from winter break, the Quinnipiac women's indoor track and field team jolted right back into the fray with a solid showing at the Yale Invitational at the Coxe Cage. A furious third period rally attempt by the No. 10 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team fell just short as the Bobcats dropped an ECAC Hockey contest to Rensselaer, 3-2, on Friday night from Houston Field House. Junior Shiann Darkangelo (Brighton, Mich.) pumped in her team-leading fifth multi-goal game of the season with two goals in the third period but it wasn't enough to overcome a 3-0 deficit built in the second by the Engineers. Quinnipiac losses just their third game of the year as they fall to 15-3-5 (6-3-4 ECAC Hockey) while RPI picks up the win to move to 8-11-1 (4-5 ECAC Hockey).

Men’s Basketball Holds Off Fairfield for First MAAC Win, 83-79
Ousmane Drame (Boston, Mass.) was one point shy of matching his career high and Ike Azotam (Boston, Mass.) chipped in with his 31st career double-double, as the Quinnipiac University men's basketball team outlasted cross-state foe Fairfield, 83-79, in its first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game in program history. The Bobcats improved to 5-2 overall and 1-0 in league play, while also moving to 9-1 in their last 10 games at the TD Bank Sports Center.

No. 5 Bobcats Battle Back From Early Deficit to Tie Rensselaer, 3-3
Facing a two-goal deficit early in the first period, the No. 5 nationally-ranked Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team battled back and scored a 3-3 tie against Rensselaer. The Bobcats scored two goals in the second period while junior Matthew Peca (Petawawa, Ontario) scored the game-tying goal with 8:23 remaining in the third period to cap the come-from-behind result. Quinnipiac's record moves to 13-2-3 (6-1-2 ECAC Hockey) while the Engineers record stands at 7-5-2 (2-3-3 ECAC Hockey).

Women's Basketball Edged By Marist in First MAAC Action, 69-63
Jasmine Martin (Sicklerville, N.J.) scored a game-high 22 points in Friday night's ESPN3 clash with Marist, but in the end it was the Red Foxes who prevailed with a 69-63 victory at the TD Bank Sports Center. With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 4-5 overall and 0-1 in league play - in a game that marked Quinnipiac's first MAAC game in program history. Eight-time reigning MAAC champion Marist improved to 4-4 on the season and 1-0 in conference action.

Shiann Darkangelo Scores Twice To Lead No. 8 Bobcats To 4-2 Win Against Union
The nationally-ranked No. 8 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team topped Union, 4-2, in an ECAC Hockey match-up at High Point Solutions Arena at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn. With the win, Quinnipiac improves to 13-2-5 overall and 4-2-4 in ECAC Hockey while Union drops to 5-10-0 overall and 2-5-0 in league play.

Women’s Basketball Tops In-State Rival Hartford, 62-49
Behind double figures from Gillian Abshire (Washington, D.C.) and Brittany McQuain (Independence, Mo.), the Quinnipiac University women's basketball team defeated in-state rival Hartford, 62-49, at the TD Bank Sports Center on Wednesday night. With the win, the Bobcats improve to 4-4 on the season while the visiting Hawks fell to 1-7 overall. The game was aired live throughout the region on NESN.

Fall semester exams and winter break near for the No. 8 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team but they still have unfinished business to attend to this weekend as they welcome in Union and Rensselaer to High Point Solutions Arena. The Bobcats are looking to overcome a four game winless draught in ECAC Hockey competition (0-1-3) as they take their 12-2-5 overall mark against the Dutchwomen (5-9, 2-4 ECAC Hockey) and Engineers (6-8-1, 3-3 ECAC Hockey). With these being two of only four conference showdowns for the upcoming weekend across the league, all attention will be square on the Bobcats as they hope to gain some spots on the four teams ahead of them in the ECAC Hockey standings.
