Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey head coach Cassandra Turner has announced the incoming class of 2019, which will join the Bobcats in the Fall of 2015. The Bobcats’ freshman class features the additions of Melissa Samoskevich (Sandy Hook, Connecticut), Randi Marcon (Winnipeg, Manitoba), Claire Lachner (Commerce, Michigan), Kate MacKenzie (Winnipeg, Manitoba), Mackenzie Lancaster (Waxhaw, North Carolina) and Miranda Lantz (Mildmay, Ontario) to the Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey roster.

Three members of the 2014-15 Quinnipiac men's basketball team have been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court. The NABC honored Zaid Hearst (Bethesda, Md.), Justin Harris (Paterson, N.J.) and Emanuel Binyam (Rockville, Md.) – a second straight selection for all three student-athletes.

The Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team placed 23 student-athletes on the 2014-15 ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team. 2015-16 captain Soren Jonzzon was also named to the ECAC Hockey Commissioner's Honor Roll, which honors the top scholar at each league institution.

Jenny Mears (Vernon, Connecticut) and Nadya Gill (Toronto, Ontario) of the Quinnipiac women’s soccer team have created memories for a lifetime in the summer of 2015. Mears took a trip to Nicaragua with QU’s 301 program while Gill traveled to Kenya with the organizations, “Me To We” and “Free The Children”.

Former Quinnipiac women’s basketball standout Gillian Abshire (Washington, D.C.) will begin her professional career overseas in Denmark, as the all-time assist leader at Quinnipiac has signed a one-year contract with the Lemvig Basketball Club.The Washington, D.C. native has inked a deal with Lemvig, who is a member of the Danish Women’s Professional League.

Quinnipiac women’s volleyball head coach Kris Czaplinski has announced the addition of former three-time All-MAAC standout Caitlin Stapleton as an assistant coach for the 2015 season. Stapleton comes to the Bobcats after a stellar career at Fairfield, in which compiled 1147 kills across 114 matches in her four-year stint.

Quinnipiac women’s outdoor track and field junior Shameal Samuels (Hartford, Connecticut) was named to the 2015 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Academic All-America Team, as released by the committee on Tuesday, July 21, 2015. Additionally, the Quinnipiac women’s outdoor track and field program earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors for the 2015 season.

The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference has announced the latest class to be inducted in the MAAC Honor Roll, in which honorees will be enshrined in “The MAAC Experience” exhibit at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Former Quinnipiac basketball standouts Frank “Porky” Vieira ’57 and Ashlee Kelly ’04 have been selected and will be recognized in Springfield, Massachusetts on October 17, 2015.

QU Women’s Outdoor Track & Field’s Shameal Samuels Places 47th in 400m at the NCAA East Regionals
Shameal Samuels (Hartford, Connecticut) made history on Thursday evening for the Quinnipiac women’s outdoor track and field team as she competed against some of the world’s fastest athletes, taking the track in the 400m at the NCAA East Regionals in Jacksonville, Florida. Samuels, who became just the second Bobcat to ever advance to an NCAA Regional event, placed 47th in the preliminary round of the 400m and finished outside of qualifying for the Quarterfinals. The historical run for Samuels and Quinnipiac is the last for the Bobcats in what was a record-breaking 2015 season.

Quinnipiac women’s outdoor track and field junior standout Shameal Samuels (Hartford, Connecticut) continued on her record-breaking 2014-15 campaign, making program history as she advances to the NCAA Women’s Track & Field East Regional. Samuels will compete in her signature 400m event and becomes just the second Quinnipiac track and field student-athlete to advance to a NCAA Regional event. Samuels will debut for the Bobcats in the preliminary round on Friday, May 29 in Jacksonville, Florida on the campus of the University of North Florida.

Quinnipiac women’s basketball senior point guard Gillian Abshire (Washington, D.C.) was announced as the NCAA Div. I statistical champion for assist-to-turnover ratio, as announced by the NCAA Media Coordination and Statistics staff on Friday, May 15, 2015. Abshire’s 4.15 assist-turnover ratio not only was the best of any NCAA student-athlete in the 2014-15 season, but it also was the best single-season assist-to-turnover ratio recorded since the NCAA began using stat in 2007-08.

QU Women’s Outdoor Track & Field 4x800m Relay Breaks School Record and Qualifies for Finals at ECAC Championships
History was made on the track on Saturday as the Quinnipiac women’s outdoor track and field team saw their 4x800m relay group advance to the finals of the ECAC Championships. Racing against the best competition across the East Coast, the Bobcats’ 4x800m team not only ran the best time in program history but also became the first Quinnipiac relay team (in any discipline) to advance to the finals at the ECAC Championships. The finals of the 4x800m event will take place on Sunday, May 17 at 2:40 PM from Weaver Stadium on the campus of Princeton University.

The Quinnipiac University baseball team erased a six-run deficit behind a two home run afternoon from freshman Ben Gibson (Sagamore Beach, Massachusetts) to defeat Rider, 9-7, in its final Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game of the season. QU Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Posts 18 Points to Take 17th Place Out of 41 Teams at New England Championships
The incredible 2014-15 campaign for the Quinnipiac women’s track and field team continued over the weekend as the Bobcats scored 18 points to take 17th place out of 41 teams at the 2015 New England Championships. Quinnipiac’s 18 points are the highest scored by the Bobcats at an outdoor New England Championship since 2007 when QU tallied 22 points. In addition, all 18 of Quinnipiac’s points were scored in sprint events (400m or shorter) as Bobcats placed in the 400m, 4x100m and 400m hurdles. Southern Conn. St. took the 2015 New England Championship with 72 points scored over the three-day event.

QU Women's Outdoor Track & Field Soars to Program Record 2nd Place Finish at MAAC Championships
The Quinnipiac women’s track and field team made history on Sunday as the Bobcats finished the MAAC Championships in 2nd place overall in the two-day conference championship held on the campus of Monmouth University. Quinnipiac’s runner-up finish is good enough for the highest finishing spot in a conference championship meet in program history. In addition, the 127 team points accumulated by the Bobcats also represent a new program-best as Quinnipiac’s track and field team continues to evolve into a dominant regional program. Monmouth University claimed their second consecutive MAAC Championship as the host Hawks compiled 260.2 points to claim the victory.

QU Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Sits in 4th Place After Day One of MAAC Championships
Several veterans came through where expected while some fresh faces impressed on the biggest stage as the Quinnipiac women’s outdoor track and field team wrapped up a successful day one at the MAAC Championships held on the campus of Monmouth University. Through 13 scored events, Quinnipiac currently sits in 4th place (out of nine teams) with 37 accumulated points. Quinnipiac’s 37 points are an eight-point improvement from the 2014 MAAC Championships while the Bobcats enter day two with plenty of room for more. The host Monmouth owns the day one lead with 128 points while Manhattan (103) and Rider (93) round out the Top 3.

QU Softball Splits Doubleheader with Siena on Senior Day, 4-3 and 2-4
The Quinnipiac softball team split a doubleheader with Siena on Saturday in their final two games of the season. The Bobcats defeated the Saints 4-3 in the first game before falling 4-2 in the second match up. Senior Jordan Paolucci (Lake Mary, Florida) hit a game-winning three-run homerun in the bottom of the fifth of the first game to give Quinnipiac the lead. The Bobcats wrap-up the season with a 17-33 overall record and at 8-12 in conference play. Siena goes to 18-24-1 and 12-6 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

The Red Foxes defeated Monmouth in the second semifinal matchup, leaving Quinnipiac and Marist to play for the title on Saturday, May 2 at 2 p.m. in Poughkeepsie.

Three Bobcats – seniors Kyra Ochwat (Farmingdale, New York) and Vicki Kuhn (East Hampstead, New Hampshire) as well as freshman Kiera Kelly (West Islip, New York) – of the Quinnipiac women’s lacrosse team were tabbed with All-MAAC honors, as announced by the league office on Thursday night. Both Ochwat and Kuhn were named to the All-MAAC Second Team while Kelly earned a spot on the All-Rookie Team. In addition to the athletic awards, 14 Bobcats were recognized for their academic achievements as well.

In their final non-conference game of the season, the Quinnipiac softball team defeated Central Connecticut, 2-1 at the QU Softball Field. Senior Hannah Lindsley (Narragansett, Rhode Island) bested her opposition on the mound, allowing just one run off six hits in five and two-third innings of work. In conjunction with the Quinnipiac Alumni Relations, the Quinnipiac women's soccer program will host its sixth annual 4v4 Soccer Tournament on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 10 a.m. on the QU Soccer Field. Similar to last year, the proceeds support the Vaatjie Mor Primary School in South Africa where members of the men's and women's soccer teams have held soccer clinics in the past.

QU Softball Sweeps Home Doubleheader Against Rider, 7-5 and 3-0; Herzog Records Shutout
Freshman Casey Herzog (Wappingers Falls, New York) led the Quinnipiac softball team to a MAAC sweep against Rider, 7-5 and 3-0 on Sunday afternoon. Doing a little bit of everything, Herzog finished the day at the plate going 4-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored while recording a save and a win on the mound for Quinnipiac. The Bobcats improved to 14-32 overall and 7-11 in conference play while the Broncs dropped to 10-32 and 4-12 on the year.

In a day that started with accolades for the senior class members, the Quinnipiac women’s outdoor track and field team prolonged its glorious day with five record-breaking performances at the Yale Springtime Invitational. Quinnipiac sophomore Nicole Scola (Westerly, Rhode Island) was tied for the lead after the second round of the 2015 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship. As a team, the Bobcats moved up a spot after the second round of the MAAC Championship and sit in third place after 36 holes. The Bobcats recorded their highest overall score of the season, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Cougars. The Bobcats certainly didn't make it easy for perennial MAAC power Fairfield on Tuesday as they mounted a furious comeback bid in game one and led for most of the way in game two but were ultimately swept in a doubleheader at the Alumni Softball Field, 6-4 and 6-5 (8 innings). Jordan Paolucci (Lake Mary, Florida) continued to lead the offensive charge in her resurgence back into the lineup while Sydney Robey (Glenmoore, Pennsylvania) went deep for the first time this season in the day's action. Quinnipiac's record falls to 8-25 (4-6 MAAC) on the season while the Stags sit in third place in the conference standings at 11-13 overall and 7-3 in MAAC play.

The conditions might not have been perfect but the gusty winds certainly didn’t get in the way of what was a highly successful day for the Quinnipiac women’s outdoor track and field team at the Rider Invitational. Facing off against 23 different teams, including five from the MAAC, the Bobcats picked up 108 points to place 5th overall out of 24 teams at the competition in New Jersey. The 60 degree weather down in Virginia was a start but hardly the only aspect of the Easter weekend trip that had the Quinnipiac women’s outdoor track and field team feeling as if the two-day meet was a productive weekend. Several strong performances were found in the crop of Quinnipiac runners in the 100m dash as well as the 200m dash and 400m dash events. Senior Hannah Lindsley (Narragansett, Rhode Island) led Quinnipiac softball to a 1-1 start at the Liberty Classic on Friday. The Bobcats fell in the first game to Saint Francis, 13-7 but bounced back to take down Toledo, 5-3. Lindsley was 5-for-8 on the day with three home runs and eight RBI while pitching a complete game and recording the win against the Rockets. The Quinnipiac acrobatics and tumbling team took second place in a tri-meet between the Alderson Broaddus Battlers and Hawai’i Pacific Sharks on Tuesday night. After leading going into the final event, the Bobcats (2-3) were unable to hold on as the Sharks (2-1) came out victorious with an overall total of 275.590. The Quinnipiac Women's Basketball team has been featured by multiple media outlets, both national and across the state of Connecticut, after the Bobcats were recently crowned 2015 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Champions on Monday, March 9. The Bobcats beat Marist, 72-61, to knock off the nine-time defending MAAC Champion Red Foxes from the Times Union Center in Albany, New York. The sensational 2014-15 season for the Quinnipiac women’s indoor track and field team came to an end on Sunday at the ECAC Championships. Junior Shameal Samuels (Hartford, Connecticut) added another notch to her belt with a 3rd place finish in the 400m to cap off the most successful season for any Quinnipiac track and field athlete in program history. Samuels’ 3rd place result earned six points for the Bobcats in the team standings to give Quinnipiac 32nd place out of 46 teams in the regional event that attracts the top track and field programs throughout the East Coast.

Shameal Samuels Breaks 27-Year-Old Meet Record On Her Way to Capturing 400m New England Championship For Second Straight Year
Breaking records has become the norm for Quinnipiac women’s indoor track and field’s Shameal Samuels (Hartford, Connecticut) but among all her individual achievements, nothing comes close to her awe-inspiring performance at the 2015 New England Championships. After qualifying for the 400m finals with a blistering time of 54.01 seconds on Friday, Samuels saved plenty of gas in the tank to break a 27-year-old meet record on Saturday with an impeccable time of 53.72 seconds. Samuels’ jaw-dropping sprint to the finish line captured the 400m New England Championship for the second straight season as her effort led the Bobcats to an 11th place result (out of 25 teams) at the Boston Univ. Track Center.

Quinnipiac field hockey head coach Becca Main has announced the signing of five players to National Letters of Intent set to join the Bobcats for the 2015 season. Senior Justin Harris (Paterson, N.J.) posted a career high 23 points, and Quinnipiac stood its ground defensively on the final possession to escape with a 60-59 victory over Fairfield University at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport.

Junior Shameal Samuels (Hartford, Connecticut) can add another notch to an incredible career resume as she notched a record-breaking 400m victory on Friday at the Valentine Invitational. Samuels added a Top 10 finish and her second program record later in the afternoon with an impressive 200m dash. Peaking at just the right time, the Quinnipiac women’s indoor track and field team is clicking on all cylinders heading into the 2015 MAAC Championship next Saturday held at The Armory in NYC.

QU Women's Basketball Ranked No. 7 in College Insider Mid-Major Poll For Second Straight Week
The Quinnipiac women's basketball team earned the No. 7 ranking in the most recent College Insider Mid-Major Poll, announced on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 by coaches on the select committee, tying the highest ranking in program history for the second straight week. The only other time the Bobcats received the No. 7 ranking was on April 11, 2013, which was the final mid-major poll to end the 2012-13 season. This week's announcement also represents the 13th consecutive week in which the Bobcats have earned a Top 25 ranking.

Quinnipiac men's soccer head coach Eric Da Costa is pleased to announce the addition of transfer Mikail Ellis (San Fernando, Trinidad) and Rashawn Dally (Bloomfield, Connecticut) to the team's roster for the upcoming 2015 campaign. Ellis comes to QU as a junior two seasons with the University of Texas Brownsville while Dally will join the Bobcats as a freshman from Watkinson School in Bloomfield.
