Position: Associate Athletic Director/Athletic Training

On Sept. 1, 2011, Quinnipiac Director of Athletics Jack McDonald announced that Ernie Hallbach was named Associate Athletic Director for Athletic Training. Hallbach enters his eighth year as clinical director of athletic training. Hallbach came to Quinnipiac from Trinity College in Hartford, Conn., where he held the title of head athletic trainer from August 2000 until July 2007. Hallbach's primary responsibilities include the coordination of Quinnipiac University's athletic training program as well as the day-to-day operations of the Athletic Training Department. 

While at Trinity, Hallbach was responsible for the coordinating of event and practice coverage for Trinity's 29 intercollegiate sports. He also served as a Clinical Instructor for student athletic trainers from the University of Connecticut. Hallbach oversaw three full-time and two part-time certified athletic trainers and 10 student workers in the Trinity Athletic Training department.

Aside from his duties as a Clinical Instructor, Hallbach was also an Adjunct Faculty at UConn, serving as an instructor for courses within the athletic training curriculum, including "Introduction to Athletic Training III/IV" and "Pathophysiology and Pharmacology".

Prior to Trinity, Hallbach was the Head Athletic Trainer at Saint Joseph in West Hartford, Conn., where he worked from December 1993 to August 2000. While at Saint Joseph, Hallbach developed and implemented an athletic training program in conjunction with the start of Saint Joseph's intercollegiate athletic programs.

Hallbach also held the position of Athletic Trainer for the Eastern Rehabilitation Network in Glastonbury, Conn., from July 1992 to June 1994. Eastern Rehabilitation Network provided athletic training for three high schools in the Glastonbury area.

A Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at UConn, Hallbach worked primarily with the Football and Women's Basketball programs from August 1990 to July 1992. Hallbach graduated from UConn in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science from the School of Education with a Sports Medicine/Athletic Training degree. Hallbach also received his Masters of Arts in the School of Education with a concentration in Exercise Physiology in August 1997 from UConn.

Hallbach is a licensed Connecticut Athletic Trainer while also holding certifications from the National Athletic Trainers Association as both an Athletic Trainer and an Approved Clinical Instructor. Hallbach is also associated with the Eastern Athletic Trainers Association as well as the New England Small College Athletic Conference Athletic Training Society.
