Anthony Distasio begins his third year as assistant sports information director and the primary media contact for the men’s basketball, men’s lacrosse, men’s soccer, and men’s and women’s tennis programs.
Distasio comes to Quinnipiac after most recently holding the position of athletic communications assistant at the University of New Haven. At UNH, he was responsible for the publicity and media relation efforts for 15 NCAA Division II athletic programs. He also completed a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) program in July 2011.
Prior to his stint at UNH, Distasio was a member of the athletic communications department at Southern Connecticut State University. As the assistant sports information director, Distasio covered the nationally-ranked men’s soccer team, as well as women’s soccer, men’s and women’s swimming and softball. In addition, he assisted with marketing and media initiatives pertaining to all 19 varsity athletic programs, including advertising and promoting other special events.
Distasio graduated from Springfield College in 2008 with a Bachelor's Degree in Sport Management and a concentration in Business Management. While at Springfield, he was a member of the varsity men’s soccer team for four seasons.
As a senior, he completed his final internship at Rentschler Field, home of the UConn Huskies football team. He assisted with all aspects of facility management including operations, while also promoting awareness of events as well as patron management.
He currently resides in Hamden, Conn.
