Rich Hanley currently sits as the chair of the Quinnipiac
Athletics Council. Hanley is an associate professor of Journalism
and the graduate Journalism program director in the School of
Communications. A veteran journalist, and a producer, writer and
director of award-winning documentaries and Web sites, Hanley is a
leading commentator on the convergence of the news media, politics,
pop culture and technology whose opinion appears routinely in news
accounts around the world. Prior to joining Quinnipiac University
in 2001, Hanley served for more than 20 years as a writer and
producer, including a stint at Time magazine. He has received seven
Emmy nominations for his television documentaries, including
acclaimed films about the 1944 circus fire in Hartford and the 1964
World’s Fair in New York. Hanley holds a B.A. in
Communications from the University of New Haven and a M.A. from
Wesleyan University.
