Women's BasketballBobcats' senior Jasmine Martin was named Quinnipiac's March Female Athlete of the Month.
Jasmine Martin, the third-highest scorer in the history of Quinnipiac women’s basketball, strung together the highest-scoring five-game stretch of her illustrious career throughout the month of March. In five games in March, Martin scored 95 points to average 19 per game while shooting 44.3 percent (31-for-70) from the floor, 46.7 percent (14-for-30) from three-point range and 82.6 percent (19-for-23) at the charity stripe. She added 3.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 2.3 assist/turnover ratio and 0.8 steals in 27 minutes per game.
Named the 2015 MAAC Tournament MVP, Martin was unstoppable in the three-game conference tournament as she led all players with an average of 19 PPG to lead her team to the program’s first MAAC Championship and the second NCAA Tournament berth in Quinnipiac history.
Martin then saved arguably her best performance in her 132-game career for the Bobcats’ NCAA Tournament game against Oklahoma.
Quinnipiac’s go-to scorer throughout her four years was in attack mode from the onset on her way to finishing with a game-high 24 points on 8-for-14 shooting, 4-for-6 from long range and 4-for-6 at the line. Martin’s 24 points tied a season-high while also representing the third-most scored by any single player Oklahoma had faced all season.
A transcendent scorer, Martin performed exceedingly well in her final games in the blue and gold while closing out her QU career with 1,689 points.
