HAMDEN, Conn.
– Quinnipiac University today announced a seven-game
television schedule with the New England Sports Network (NESN) for ice hockey and
basketball during the 2008-09 season. Three men’s ice hockey games, three men’s
basketball contests, and one women’s basketball tilt will air live this season.
Televised game broadcasts on additional partner stations will be announced at a
later time.
“We are very pleased to continue our
partnership with the New England Sports Network while making our ice hockey and
basketball games available to the millions of sports fans in New
England and many more via satellite,”
said Jack McDonald, director of athletics and recreation. “To showcase
our outstanding teams, coaches and facility on the region’s best sports media property
is another strong statement about Quinnipiac's growth in intercollegiate
athletics.”
The
Quinnipiac men’s basketball team will kick-off the schedule when the Bobcats
travel to the University
of Hartford on Friday,
Nov. 14 (7 p.m.). Led by second-year Head Coach Tom Moore, Quinnipiac will then
face another America East opponent on Sunday, Dec. 21 (noon) in front of a NESN
audience when it hosts the University
of Vermont. The Bobcats’
game at Brown University eight days later on Monday,
Dec. 29 (1 p.m.) will also be televised.
Quinnipiac
women’s basketball will make its return to NESN when Head Coach Tricia Fabbri
and her defending Northeast Conference Regular-Season Champions invite Hartford and Head Coach
Jennifer Rizzotti to the TD Banknorth Sports Center on Wednesday, Dec. 3 (8
p.m.).
On
the men’s ice hockey schedule, fans will also be able to watch Quinnipiac’s
first-ever home game against a Hockey East opponent on Friday, Dec. 5 (7:30
p.m.) when the Bobcats host Providence
College. Quinnipiac’s
home game against fellow ECAC Hockey foe Harvard University
on Friday, Jan. 2, 2009 (7 p.m.) will also be broadcast on NESN. The series opener
between Quinnipiac and cross-town rival Yale
University will be aired on Saturday, Jan.
31, 2009 (7 p.m.) from the Bulldogs’ Ingalls Rink in New Haven, Conn.

The
“Voice of the Bobcats” Bill Schweizer will provide the play-by-play for all
television broadcasts, while Rich Coppola and Bill Mecca will serve as color
analysts for ice hockey and basketball respectively.

addition, nearly all winter sports home and away regular-season games can be
heard live this season either on the Bobcats Radio Network, including flagship
station AM 1220 WQUN (Hamden/New Haven), or online at www.quinnipiacbobcats.com.
