HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac All-Northeast Conference junior guard Erin Kerner (Erie, Pa.) and sophomore men’s lacrosse leading scorer Garret Kerr (Inglewood, Ontario) have been named the Eli’s Restaurant Group/Quinnipiac University Athletes of the Month for March. The honor is the third of the year for Kerner and Kerr’s first.
Kerner averaged 18.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists in five games while shooting 42.7 percent from the floor, including 47.4 percent from three-point range. She also buried 86.4 percent of her free throw attempts. She scored a career-high 37 points on 14-for-26 shooting and added six rebounds and three steals in the NEC Tournament Semifinals, March 9, at Long Island. Kerner finished the season averaging 17.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.
Kerr scored six of his team-leading 13 goals in March, to help the Bobcats to a 4-1 record in the month. He also contributed two assists. He’s scored a pair of game-winning goals this season, the biggest coming as time expired in an 11-10 victory against St. John’s.
