HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team defeated Dartmouth College, 4-2, in an ECAC Hockey match-up at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn. With the win, the Bobcats run their league record to a perfect 4-0-0 while the also improve to 8-1-0 overall.  With Colgate's 3-3 tie against Yale, and Rensselaer losing to St. Lawrence, 2-1, the Bobcats now stand alone in first place after the first two weekends of league play.

Sophomore Scott Zurevinski (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) scored twice in the Bobcats win and also assisted on a third goal. Zurevinski set up senior captain Jean-Marc Beaudoin (St. Paul, Alb.) with the game's first goal, just under a minute into the game at the 53-second mark. Zach Hansen (White Bear Lake, Minn.) dug the puck out of the corner behind the Bobcats goal and sent it up-ice to Zurevinski. Zurevinski then chipped it over to Beaudoin, who scored to give Quinnipiac a 1-0 lead. Quinnipiac also improved to 37-0-3 in their last 40 games when holding a lead heading into the third period.

The goal was the first of three Quinnipiac goals in the first period. Zurevinski scored at the 4:53 mark, on assists from Greg Holt (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) and Reese Rolheiser (Edmonton, Alb.). Spencer Heichman (Yorba Linda, Calif.) also scored his first goal of the season in the first period. Freshman Clay Harvey (Gulf Lake, Saskatchewan) picked up his first career point on Heichman's goal. Mike Glaicar (Kamloops, B.C.) also had a helper on the play.

The play was decidedly different in the second period, with the momentum shifting towards the Big Green. Dartmouth scored twice in the period to pull within a goal heading into the final period after out-shooting the Bobcats 19-5 in the second frame. Adam Estoclet and Scott Fleming scored a pair of power-play goals to trim Quinnipiac's lead to one. Dustin Walsh and Doug Jones picked up assists on Estoclet's goal while Kyle Reeds and Josh Gillam had assists on the Big Green's second goal. Both goals came off of several rebounds, all following saves by Quinnipiac goalie Dan Clarke (Belleville, Ont.).

Clarke, starting his fifth straight game, won his fourth consecutive decision - all against ECAC Hockey teams. The sophomore goalie had 33 saves in the win, including 17 in the second period. He improves to 4-1-0 on the season and ranks among the national leaders in save percentage and goals-against average.

Zurevinski's second goal of the game came just under eight minutes into the final period. After a turnover in their own zone, the Big Green left a wide-open area in front the net. Zurevinski skated in and blasted a shot past James Mello to push the Bobcats' lead to 4-2.

Quinnipiac returns to action when it travels to Hamilton, N.Y. to take on Colgate University on Friday, Nov. 20. Colgate currently sits in second place in the ECAC Hockey standings with seven points, while travel-mate Cornell University is tied for third place with six points. Quinnipiac and Cornell play on Saturday, Nov. 21. ­
