On Friday, October 16, 2009, over 2500 QU students, parents and staff experienced QU Bsketball and Bobcat pride at Midnight Madness.
Fans who came with their Bobcat Gold T-Shirts, were treated with a special Gold Bobcat Sherpa Hat.
The evening opened with welcome remarks from President John L. Lahey, Student Governement Association President Louis Venturelli and Student Athlete Advisory Committee Co-Chairs Emily Bellush and Lailah Pratt. Master of Ceremonies Nick Bartlett ('11) opened the program the first of QU's "Top Ten Tunes". Midnight Madness also featured excellent performances by Dance Company, Dance Fusion, Kickline, Pep Band, Sideline Cheer, Step to Perfection, as well as contests and the introduction of QU's 400 Varsity Student-Athletes.
QU's Men's and Women's Basketball Teams were introduced, followed by a slam dunk contest that also allowed the fans to text their best dunker vote using new texting-survey interactive technology on the scoreboard. Fans also used the texting to select their favorite spirit group.

Midnight Madness was originally started by Maryland Head Coach Lefty Driesell in 1970. Midnight Madness is held at the earliest time the men's basketball team can practice, which used to be midnight on the first day of practice. Students would attend the practice and over the years it has evolved into a circus-like atmosphere, including light shows, magic shows, the mascot trampoline challenge, skits, food, beverage, and other fanfare.
