HAMDEN, Conn. - For the first time in its Division I history, the Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team were ranked in the top 10 in both major polls released on Monday, Nov. 23, 2009. The USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Division I Men's Ice Hockey Poll ranked Quinnipiac 10^th, up three spots from the Bobcats' first appearance in the poll last week. The USCHO.com Division I poll had Quinnipiac in the 9^th spot.

Quinnipiac was ranked 12^th in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll and 13^th in the USCHO.com/CBS College Sports on January 21, 2008, the highest the Bobcats had ever previously been ranked by the college hockey's top two polls. Earlier today, Quinnipiac was ranked 9^th nationally in InsideCollegeHockey.com's INCH Power Rankings. They are also ranked fourth in the most the most recent PairWise Rankings, an objective formula used to determine the NCAA Tournament field. The KRACH Ratings, similar to the PairWise Rankings, featured Quinnipiac fourth.

Quinnipiac is currently in first place in ECAC Hockey at 6-0-0 and are coming off a 3-2 upset of No. 5 Cornell on the Big Red's home ice. The Bobcats are currently 10-1-0 overall for the top winning percentage (.909) in NCAA Division I hockey. In addition, Quinnipiac also boasts the top scoring offense in the country with 46 goals in 11 games for a 4.18 goals per game average. The Bobcats' defense, which ranks 11^th nationally, has allowed 25 goals in 11 games for a 2.27 per game average, giving them the third best scoring margin, +1.91, in the nation. With both wins this past weekend, the Bobcats extended their streak of consecutive games without a loss when leading after the second period to 40 games (37-0-3).

Senior Brandon Wong (Victoria, B.C.) leads Quinnipiac with five goals and 11 assists for 16 points, good for 11^th in the country with 1.45 points per game. He is also one of nine players in Division I hockey averaging one assist per contest, ranking fifth in the nation. Senior Eric Lampe (Madison, Wisc.) also ranks in the top 20 in scoring with nine goals and six assists for 15 points at a 1.36 per game clip. His 0.82 goals per game rank eighth nationally, while the duo make Quinnipiac one of six teams to have two players ranked in the top 20 in scoring.

Sophomore Dan Clarke (Belleville, Ont.) remains one of two goalies in the country with a 1.000 winning percentage at 6-0-0, including five consecutive wins. Clarke ranks sixth in save percentage at .935 while also carrying a 2.18 goals-against average. Clarke holds two of Quinnipiac's three wins against ranked opponents this season.

Quinnipiac hits the ice on Wednesday, Nov. 25 when it hosts Princeton University in an ECAC Hockey match-up at the TD Bank Sports Center at 7 p.m. The Bobcats close out the week against No. 9/10 University of Massachusetts on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 3 p.m. The game, played at Quinnipiac's TD Bank Sports Center, can be seen on the New England Sports Network (NESN).
