HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac University men's soccer senior goalkeeper Freddy Hall (St. George, Bermuda) and field hockey senior midfielder Bonnie Shea (Walpole, Mass.) have been named the Quinnipiac Athletes of the Month for October. This is the first time that Shea has been honored as the top female athlete, while Hall has been recognized twice before as Quinnipiac's top male athlete, including last month.

Hall posted impressive stats in the month of October, leading the Bobcats to five Northeast Conference wins. In the month, he recorded five shutouts in starting all nine of his team's games. He is currently leading the nation in total saves with 101, while ranking fifth in the country with an .886 save percentage. Hall allowed just two goals in the first eight games of October, including three consecutive shutouts at Fairleigh Dickinson and Sacred Heart and against Long Island. Against Saint Francis (Pa.) on Oct. 4, Hall turned aside a season-high 11 saves in a 3-0 shutout. One of the top goalies in the country, Hall was also the topic of a feature story on NCAA.com during the month.

Shea was named Quinnipiac Athlete of the Month for October after totaling three goals and two assists as the Bobcats posted a 4-4 record for the month and clinched the third seed in the NEC Tournament.  Quinnipiac posted a 3-0 record in which Shea tallied a point. Her most notable games for the month include a two-goal outing against Sacred Heart in a 5-0 win on Oct. 13, including the game's first and game-winning goal. She also had a two-assist showing against Robert Morris on Oct. 30. Both assists came off corners, of which Shea serves as the team's inserter. The senior from Walpole, Mass., is currently enjoying a career year for Quinnipiac as she has reached career highs in goals (four), assists (four) and points (12).

Also nominated were sophomore Richard Klauber (Thomaston, Conn.) of the men's cross country team, freshman Biz Cook (Appleton, Wis.) of the women's soccer team, women's cross country sophomore Morgan Roche (Clifton Park, N.Y.) and volleyball sophomore Kelby Carey (Surfside, Calif.).
