HAMDEN,
Conn. – Quinnipiac University has announced a 13-game television schedule with the New England Sports Network (NESN), CBS College Sports Network, Time Warner Cable and CPTV - Fox College Sports for the 2009-10 season for the men's ice hockey and men's and women's basketball teams. Six men's ice hockey games will be aired, featuring three on NESN as well as two on CBS College Sports Network and one on Time Warner Cable. Men's basketball will have five games broadcast, including four on NESN and one on CPTV-Fox College Sports Network, while women's basketball will have two games featured.

Network and to showcase games on CBS College Sports Network. In addition, the
added benefit is making our ice hockey and basketball games available to the
millions of sports fans in New England and many more via satellite,” said Jack
McDonald, director of athletics and recreation. “To showcase our outstanding teams,
coaches and facility on the region’s best sports media properties is another
strong statement about Quinnipiac's growth in intercollegiate athletics.”
Men’s ice hockey’s game against Harvard at the TD Bank Sports Center on Friday,
Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m. is the first game in the 13-game package. The Bobcats will
also be featured on Saturday, Nov. 28 when they host the University of
Massachusetts at 3 p.m. Quinnipiac will have its weekend series against Cornell
and Colgate, on Feb. 5-6, respectively, aired on CBS College Sports Network
with both scheduled for a 8 p.m. start. On Jan. 22, the Bobcats match-up
against Niagara will be featured on Time Warner Cable at 7 p.m. The men’s ice
hockey team’s television schedule ends on Saturday, Feb. 27 when they host Elm
City rival Yale University at 7:30 p.m. That game, the Bobcats’ final home game
of the 2009-10 regular-season, will also include Senior Night festivities as
Quinnipiac and Yale play for the Heroes’ Hat.
Women’s basketball will be featured on Saturday, Nov. 14 when they travel up
I-91 to the University of Hartford. The Bobcats and Hawks hit the hardwood at
4:30 p.m. They will also be featured on CPTV-Fox College Sports Network as the
first game of a doubleheader also featuring the men’s team against Sacred Heart
at 5:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m., respectively.
Men’s basketball will have four games featured on NESN during the 2009-10
season. Their first game pits them against the University of Rhode Island on
the Ram’s home court on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. The following week, they will
travel to the University of Vermont on Sunday, Dec. 13 for a 12 p.m. tilt. On Thursday, Dec. 30 they will host Dartmouth at the TD
Bank Sports Center at 2 p.m. and then conclude their NESN schedule when they host Central Connecticut State on Sunday, Jan. 24 at 12 p.m.
The “Voice of the Bobcats,” Bill Schweizer will provide the play-by-play for
all television broadcasts, while Rich Coppola and Bill Mecca will serve as
color analysts for ice hockey and basketball, respectively.
Nearly all winter sports home and away regular-season games can be heard live
this season on the Bobcats Radio Network, including flagship station AM 1220
WQUN (Hamden/New Haven), or online at www.quinnipiacbobcats.com. All home games
can also be seen via live and on-demand video streaming at www.quinnipiacbobcats.com. The
Bobcats Sports Network also features numerous game highlights, comments and
post-game shows on Apple iTunes, Twitter and Facebook.
In
addition to the eight games scheduled to air on NESN, Quinnipiac’s School of
Communications and Public Affairs will be producing an original television
series entitled “Quinnipiac University: Bobcats Unleashed In HD” to air on the NESN
starting this fall. The show focuses on Quinnipiac’s basketball and ice
hockey teams and their goals for the upcoming season. Bobcats Unleashed In
HD will be hosted by Jayme Parker, Bill Schweizer and Bill Mecca and will be produced
and directed by Peter Sumby and crewed by School of Communications students and
industry professionals. The show will be shot and edited in
high-definition at the Ed McMahon Mass Communications Center and will air on
the NESN High Definition channel.

The
series will begin to air in early November.
