HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac University student-athletes were in attendance for the Freshmen Move-In Day on the Mt. Carmel campus as a part of QU's Positive Play initiative. The Positive Play program incorporates academics and community service into Quinnipiac's Division I athletic program.

Athletes from several Bobcat teams were on hand to greet the incoming freshman and unload their belongings at the Ledges, Dana, Irma, Complex and Commons residence halls. The early-morning session consisted of members from the men's ice hockey team, field hockey team and men's soccer team. Later, the women's soccer, women's ice hockey, volleyball, and women's lacrosse team were in attendance to help.

Baseball Head Coach Dan Gooley was at the Ledges helping his daughter, Bree, move in for her freshman year.

"This is an efficient process," said Gooley. "It's a great help to have the athletes on hand to make everything move quickly."

Gail Anderson, whose son, Conor, was also moving into the Ledges, watched in awe as members of the women's soccer and women's ice hockey teams swiftly unloaded Conor's belongings from her truck.

"This is incredible!" Anderson said. "I remember when I moved into college and my father was carrying boxes up three flights absolutely exhausted. Having the athletes here gets the job done in one trip."

Later in the morning members of the men's basketball staff and the softball team joined to help with the move-in process.
