Tickets On Sale Now For Women's Basketball WNIT Game On Wednesday

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's basketball team will host its first-round game of the Women's National Invitational Tournament on Wednesday, March 19 at 7 p.m. at the TD Banknorth Sports Center in Hamden, Conn. The Bobcats (25-5) will play host to Iona College (19-13), which finished in third place in the Metro Atlantic Conference.

 

Tickets will be $5 for adults, $4 for students and $3 for kids (under 12)/seniors (over 65) and are available for purchase through the TD Banknorth Sports Center ticket office. Visit the ticket office between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. or call (203) 582-3905. Tickets will not be available online. The first 500 fans in attendance will receive foam noodles. The game will be streamed on the Bobcat Channel, the official live and on-demand video/audio streaming component of www.quinnipiacbobcats.com. The video and audio feed will be made available to all current Bobcat Channel subscribers, in addition to a free stream for all Quinnipiac University students and faculty/staff.

 

This is the first-ever postseason appearance for the Quinnipiac women’s basketball program at the Division I level. The Bobcats earned an automatic berth in the WNIT by winning the regular season Northeast Conference title, finishing with a 16-2 record. It was the most conference wins by any Quinnipiac women’s basketball team since joining the NEC.

 

This season, Quinnipiac set a new university record for wins at the Division I level, as they finished the year at 25-5. The top seed in the ensuing Northeast Conference Women’s Basketball tournament, Quinnipiac defeated Mount St. Mary’s, 66-56, in the NEC Quarterfinals before falling to Long Island in the semifinals, 67-63. Quinnipiac’s Erin Kerner was named to the Northeast Conference First Team while Mandy Pennewell was selected to the Second Team. Brianna Rooney was also named the NEC Defensive Player of the Year.
