Men's Tennis Concludes Fall At CT State Championships

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac University men's tennis freshman Andrew Weeden's (Martinsville, N.J.) run at the Connecticut State Championships ended Sunday, when he was defeated by Yale's Erik Blumenkranz, 7-6, 6-2, in the semifinals at Yale's Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center. Meanwhile, freshman Chris Nelson (Scituate, Mass.) won the First Round Consolation Championship.

Nelson defeated Connecticut's Ricardo Cardona, 6-3, 6-2, to earn his title. Sophomore James Kwei (Dedham, Mass.) also played Sunday, advancing to the championship of the Second Round Consolation bracket. Kwei defeated UConn's Tom Cook, 6-3, 5-7, 10-5, in the semifinals, before falling to Sacred Heart's Adam Gart, 6-1, 6-1, in the finals.
