Quinnipiac University volleyball newcomers Amanda Armstrong (Waukesha, Wis.) and Tracey Wright (Fair Lawn, N.J.) had 11 kills and 12 digs, respectively, but the Bobcats were defeated by Holy Cross, 3-0, in their season opener Friday afternoon at Holy Cross Field House. The Quinnipiac University volleyball team opens the 2010 season at the Beanpot Classic, being held on a pair of Massachusetts campuses this weekend. The Bobcats will face Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass., Friday afternoon at 2 p.m., before playing Fordham and host Boston College on Saturday.  (full story)

Quinnipiac Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Services Lyneene Richardson and the women's volleyball visited Hamden Youth Services, at the Keefe Community Center in Hamden, Conn., and donated school supplies for the center's after-school program. The team purchased items at Target in North Haven and delivered them to the center on Monday, Aug. 23.  (full story)
